00:00 (crowd cheering)
00:02 - All right, boxers, I know your chunks are good.
00:07 Your chunks are a little bit higher.
00:10 - You know, to see that,
00:11 and also like, even you can tell with the height.
00:14 You can tell with the height,
00:16 you know, you got a 73 inch reach for Sandow
00:21 compared to a 69, that's a four inch reach advantage.
00:24 So I expect Sandow to box from outside a little bit.
00:27 - Jarvis fought as a welterweight, junior middleweight,
00:32 now fighting all the way up at light heavyweight.
00:34 We are underway, our main event of the evening.
00:37 (crowd chanting)
00:40 Sandow, being from Nashville,
00:43 you can hear has a nice little cheering group behind him.
00:46 - I think we got it all around the ring.
00:50 I'm shocked that you have somebody,
00:52 you know, filling in for Clayton Q.
00:54 Sandow's got a solid win on his resume
00:58 over Jens Plante's last fight.
01:00 Stopped Clarence Brown in three on November 27th, 2021.
01:05 So almost two years out of the ring.
01:06 He told me he had a managerial issue
01:09 and that has been rectified.
01:11 Now he's back and looking to really
01:14 put a jumpstart into his career.
01:17 - So we might see a little bit of ring rust.
01:19 But right now, I mean, he's looking solid.
01:23 You know, I mean, he's filling him out.
01:25 You know, he's touching for the reach.
01:28 See where it is, 'cause he, you know,
01:29 he got a four inch reach advantage on--
01:32 - Pandarvis. - Yep, Pandarvis.
01:36 - Jab of the body from Sandow.
01:41 A right from Sandow.
01:50 - He let some hands go.
01:54 - Pandarvis has come off a six-run
01:56 nemesis decision defeat to Malcolm Jones
01:58 just a couple weeks ago on the 27th of October
02:01 in Davensport, Massachusetts.
02:03 - Yeah, so he goes all over.
02:08 I mean, again, he's out of, you know,
02:10 Pandarvis is out of LA, you know, Los Angeles.
02:15 - Yeah, Lancaster, which I think is not too far from LA.
02:18 Good right hand from Sandow.
02:22 (speaking in foreign language)
02:24 - Yeah, and one thing he said,
02:27 he learned to fight because of his neighborhood.
02:29 Another thing, so.
02:30 - Take it, Hartsville, South Carolina
02:35 wasn't a place where people were fighting in the streets.
02:39 - You know, actually, we had a great fighter
02:43 that I actually grew up with
02:45 that came out of Hartsville, South Carolina.
02:47 - Who would that be? - Chad Dawson.
02:49 - Okay. - Yeah, bad Chad Dawson.
02:51 Worked with Chad a couple times over the years.
02:54 There was a left from Pandarvis on the inside.
02:57 How about that? - Yeah, yeah.
03:01 His grandmother lived right behind my grandmother,
03:04 so we used to play together when we were kids.
03:06 - Who knew we could connect
03:10 Albert Hainsworth and Chad Dawson?
03:12 - Hey, Hartsville is, South Carolina is a gym
03:17 for all types of athletes.
03:20 Basketball, football, baseball, boxing, you name it.
03:25 - Here's a right hand from Sando.
03:26 Coming to the end of round one,
03:30 schedule for six, our main event, Sando and Pandarvis.
03:33 One round in the books.
03:39 Cleotis Pandarvis.
03:42 And Medell Sando.
03:49 - Hey, you can see, you know, like a little bit of,
03:51 a little, a little bit of rust, not much.
03:54 You can tell he stayed in the gym, he stayed sparring.
03:58 I don't think he let the manager thing,
04:00 situation really get him down.
04:03 But you know, he's in with a nice, crafty vet.
04:07 Has been around the ring,
04:08 has fought at different weight classes, you know,
04:12 up and down, so I think this is, you know, like, nice fight.
04:18 It's gonna be a technical fight.
04:19 I don't see right now, early,
04:21 that there's gonna be like a early knockout,
04:23 just watching these guys move, so.
04:26 - We are back for round two, schedule for six.
04:38 Cleotis Pandarvis in the blue.
04:41 Medell Sando in the white and gold.
04:45 Mark Avers along with Albert Hainsworth.
04:48 Right to the body from Sando.
04:51 - Yeah, you see he come out, like, leveling up.
04:55 And, you know, I think now he's figuring out
05:00 what the range is.
05:01 - Sando is trained by Rodolfo Estevez,
05:05 who is a Cuban trainer and boxer.
05:08 Sando's got Cuban roots.
05:14 - And it looks like his manager is his brother or his dad?
05:18 - Brother, I think his brother.
05:20 I believe, yeah, I think it's his brother.
05:22 Sando said that Estevez is bringing the best out of him
05:28 as he, they were just looking to climb the ladder
05:31 and get a good fight.
05:32 He just wants to become world champion.
05:35 And he said he'd be happy to be bit back in the ring
05:37 after two years.
05:38 And we saw Sando fight Plano,
05:42 who's on a PBC card, Premier Boxing Champions card.
05:46 You know, beat Plano pretty easily
05:49 and just didn't hear from him again.
05:51 Now we know why due to the managerial stuff
05:54 that was going on in his career.
05:56 - Yeah, the other thing is gonna really affect him.
06:00 It's good to see him, like, getting out here moving.
06:04 You know, I mean, like, he hasn't,
06:06 I feel like he lost his step.
06:07 I mean, two years, that could be very hard,
06:11 you know, for boxers.
06:13 It could be rusty, we've seen that,
06:15 we've seen that, you know, this past weekend
06:17 with a guy that's been out of the ring for a little while
06:20 and didn't end well for him.
06:21 - Trevor Bryan.
06:22 - Yeah, so, you know, it's good that he looks like
06:28 he's in good shape.
06:29 - Yeah, oh, flicking jab from Pandarvis.
06:33 So that's what Pandarvis is, he's a guy,
06:35 he's been around, he's been a pro for 19 years.
06:38 He's fought all kinds of guys and, you know,
06:41 take us a long time to read all the names,
06:44 but guys like Mauricio Herrera and Sergey Bochak,
06:49 Michael Clark.
06:50 - Yeah, I mean, like I said, he's been around the block,
06:54 he's fought a lot, he's a very experienced fighter.
06:59 - Good right hand from Sando.
07:02 Pandarvis trying to get in and tries to land a right hook.
07:05 - And Pandarvis is definitely not laying down.
07:11 You know, he's gonna take advantage of that ring rest
07:14 that Sando has on him.
07:17 - And a right from Sando.
07:22 Not the easiest guy to come back after two years.
07:25 You're fighting a crafty southpaw like Pandarvis
07:29 and a body shot, I think it was a body shot,
07:33 like maybe they're calling it a low blow, that Sando.
07:39 - Yep, definitely a low blow.
07:43 - Yeah, it looks like it's a low blow.
07:45 - I didn't see it, we'll see it on the replay.
07:50 See where it is.
07:51 So, immediately went down.
07:58 Well.
08:07 (crowd talking)
08:10 So, a little controversy at the end of round two.
08:19 - Yeah, it was supposed to be like a low blow,
08:25 but I don't think we got that,
08:28 so I'd really like to see what happened.
08:32 You know, and it looked like Pandarvis,
08:35 he was a little mad about that.
08:37 Really, we didn't get to see it at all,
08:42 but hopefully they're gonna shake it off
08:44 and we'll see how he does.
08:46 - Well, Sando seems to, as you see in the corner,
08:49 still seems to be in some discomfort over that.
08:52 - Yeah, as he does.
08:55 So, again, you know, that two years layoff,
09:00 you know, that could affect you a little bit.
09:04 Even, you know, we'll see how he comes back.
09:07 Well, back here at Country Box in Nashville, Tennessee,
09:20 home of the Tennessee Titans.
09:21 - Round number three, scheduled for six.
09:28 Mydell Sando and Cleotis Pandarvis.
09:30 Jab to the body from Sando.
09:35 (players shouting)
09:37 - I wanna say he's gonna come out here
09:38 and try to prove that he's good.
09:42 - Another jab to the body.
09:43 Flicking jab upstairs.
09:46 Good right hand from Sando.
09:52 That's what Sando's gotta do.
09:54 He's using his height, his reach.
09:56 Just flicking the jab, one-two again.
09:58 - Man, again, he ain't got a four-inch reach advantage,
10:03 so you would think that he wants to stay outside
10:05 and box him and touch him from out there, like he's doing.
10:08 It's a good uppercut by Sando from the inside.
10:17 I think it went--
10:23 - There's a right from Sando.
10:28 And they're gonna rule that a knockdown.
10:32 - I think it was a, you know,
10:33 hit him kinda in the back of the head.
10:35 - Over the shot, the glove hit the canvas.
10:37 Score the knockdown for Cleotis Pandarvis.
10:40 - Again, this guy's a crafty veteran.
10:45 He's been in here, you know, been like 19 years.
10:48 - 42 times.
10:50 - Yeah, I mean, he's no sleeper.
10:52 I think he was definitely a little upset
10:56 that he didn't get that knockdown.
11:00 But the ref ruled it a low blow.
11:02 I gotta see how Sando's gonna bounce back from this.
11:15 - The right hand from Sando, a tie-up on the inside.
11:26 There's a good right to the body from Pandarvis.
11:28 (crowd cheering)
11:31 - You know, I said like Pandarvis,
11:34 he's fought all kind of weight classes,
11:36 so he knows how to, you know, fight little and fight big.
11:40 I think he's showing Sando all of it right now.
11:46 I can tell like, Pandarvis is knowing that he can't,
11:55 you know, reach him.
11:56 So he's waiting till he gets inside
11:58 and he's gonna deliver his blows.
11:59 - There's a left that is a little short.
12:14 - Can see like Sando has definitely made an adjustment
12:18 not to get too close.
12:20 - End of round number three.
12:24 (crowd cheering)
12:27 - So like, you know, just seeing that,
12:38 like had a little adjustment from the knockdown.
12:41 Hopefully we got, and we can see the replay,
12:44 but you know, he gotta know that he can't just rush in.
12:49 And then he needs to counter
12:50 when Pandarvis would wanna come in.
12:54 You know, he's gotta use that jab to keep him out.
12:57 And then he'd keep up, you know, he'd keep him out.
12:59 And then, you know, just box from the outside,
13:01 he'd be all right.
13:02 'Cause, you know, Pandarvis can't reach Sando
13:07 if he boxes from the outside.
13:23 - That's off the second half of our main event.
13:26 Right now Sando in the white and gold.
13:30 Cleo's Pandarvis in the blue and silver.
13:33 Mark Abrams ringside here
13:36 at the Troubadour Nashville, Tennessee.
13:39 Both guys coming out, setting a fast pace in round four.
13:50 - I see Sando's trying not to get his head
13:53 butted with Pandarvis' head when they get in those clenches.
13:58 - They got a six, one, to five, seven,
14:00 so they definitely gotta use that height.
14:02 Use that height and that reach advantage.
14:05 - Jab from Sando.
14:07 - Definitely give him a little shot.
14:18 If Sando literally stays outside, he'll be all right.
14:20 When he's mixing it, getting in the close,
14:25 he's giving Pandarvis a shot to land, again,
14:30 like a knockout like he did the last round.
14:33 - A right from Sando.
14:36 Hits a lot of the gloves of Pandarvis.
14:38 There's a good right that gets in.
14:46 (crowd cheering)
14:48 Right hits a lot of gloves,
14:52 right to the top of the head from Sando.
14:54 As they, again, they tie up.
14:56 The right from Sando again.
15:03 It's a southpaw, it's usually the lead right hand
15:06 in an uppercut.
15:07 From Sando, gets through.
15:12 (crowd cheering)
15:15 Pandarvis started boxing at the age of 10,
15:22 like Albert mentioned before.
15:24 You know, the neighborhood.
15:25 Came up in a rough background in LA.
15:29 Led him to about 48 amateur fights.
15:32 - Like to me, that's an awesome, amazing thing.
15:39 Instead of like dealing with the things on the street,
15:41 you know, he wanted to take his frustrations
15:43 and go to the gym and be able to make money.
15:46 That's beautiful things.
15:48 - Out of all those fights, he felt he had four bad decisions
15:52 that would make his record look a little bit better.
15:55 Sando lands a good left hook.
15:58 Left hook to the top of the head.
16:00 - I think definitely Pandarvis is off balance right now.
16:08 I think he got zing, I think that's why he's holding on.
16:11 You see, like normally when he was in a clinch,
16:16 he's gonna be throwing when he's in the clinch.
16:18 Right there, I think he's trying
16:19 to just get his balance back.
16:21 Put on the steam, Sando.
16:28 - End of round four.
16:37 - Obviously I see it as a better round for Sando, definitely.
16:41 That right there, that left hook that caught Pandarvis,
16:48 that had him dazed a little bit.
16:51 That's all we needed to see.
16:53 But again, you know, Pandarvis, he got a knockdown,
16:59 so Sando's gonna have to win the rest of these rounds.
17:06 (upbeat music)
17:09 But again, he's been knocking out Ringrush,
17:15 so you know, a two year sit out,
17:20 you know, I think that hurt him a little bit.
17:24 - We are back here at the Troubadour-Nashville, Tennessee.
17:35 Country box tent, been a very entertaining car.
17:40 Main event, round five,
17:42 Medell Sando cleared as Pandarvis.
17:44 - Yeah, there's been a lot of great action.
17:48 This is like some true boxing skills right here.
17:51 We got Sando, that's--
17:53 - Sando lands a couple shots to the body.
17:55 Right upstairs to the head.
17:58 - I like how he's stalking Pandarvis now.
18:04 (crowd cheering)
18:07 - Good jab from Sando.
18:15 - You know, something I would like to see from Sando
18:22 is I would have went for the body of Pandarvis.
18:27 - Uppercut and a left hand from Sando.
18:34 Pandarvis probing with the jab.
18:36 - I see a--
18:50 - Looking jab from Pandarvis.
18:52 - If I see correctly, I think, I see a little,
18:55 I see a little welt on Pandarvis's, I guess, right eye.
19:01 - I guess, right eye.
19:02 - Pandarvis tries to land a big right hand.
19:12 Maybe it was a little too close.
19:18 Pandarvis flicks out two jabs.
19:20 Right hand over the top misses for Sando.
19:29 Pandarvis, even at 37 years old and 42 fights,
19:33 is still very crafty in there.
19:35 Very tough to hit him flush.
19:37 - That's great, that's what the 19 years
19:41 of experience in the ring,
19:43 going against some really good fighters,
19:47 and still having a winning record.
19:52 - He knows just enough distance and when to move,
19:58 when and where to move his head,
20:00 just so you, I mean, you'll land and score on him,
20:03 but you won't get that perfect shot on him.
20:07 - Yeah, you just like, just gotta keep tapping him.
20:14 - The right hand misses for Sando.
20:22 - Sounds like the crowd sees something that we don't.
20:27 - And we close in on the sixth and final round
20:30 here in Nashville, our main event.
20:32 Five rounds down, Cleoderus Pandarvis talking to the crowd.
20:45 - I think, you know, other than the knockdown,
20:55 I think that Sando's suffered,
20:58 I think it's been really good.
21:01 And I think really Sando has kind of been more active
21:06 a little bit, and as you can see,
21:07 you can see a little bit of swelling
21:09 on the right side of Pandarvis's face.
21:14 So, you know, he's been effective.
21:19 I don't think he can get the knockout
21:21 off of somebody as crafty as Pandarvis,
21:24 but like to knock out some rust that he needed,
21:28 I think he's doing pretty good for two years off.
21:34 - Sixth and final round, our main event.
21:40 Maidal Sando, Cleodorus Pandarvis.
21:43 It's been a tactical fight.
21:45 With Sando trying to land those right hands,
21:51 Pandarvis trying to counter.
21:53 (crowd cheering)
21:55 - I see some more harder punches from Sando.
22:00 - Sando, he feels comfortably ahead on the scorecards.
22:04 - They see a definitely...
22:10 - Despite being, having a knockdown scored against him.
22:16 There's a counter left from Pandarvis.
22:23 Right and a left from Sando.
22:26 - Yeah, that body shot, good body shot.
22:51 Right hook to the body,
22:52 that should have been done a little earlier.
22:54 - There's a left hook from Sando.
22:56 We haven't seen too many left hooks from him.
22:58 He's been jabbing and coming back with the right hand.
23:01 Haven't seen too many left hooks.
23:03 Jab, double jab from Sando.
23:06 Pandarvis trying to muck it up on the inside.
23:10 - Yeah, he has to.
23:15 (crowd cheering)
23:18 - I feel like...
23:30 I think that body shot took a little bit out of Pandarvis.
23:37 Or just being in the sixth round,
23:44 but I think literally Sando would have been
23:46 doing that the entire fight.
23:48 - Right misses from Sando.
23:50 Pandarvis tries to counter.
23:52 - I think it would have been a little different.
23:55 Yeah, like the body's soft.
23:56 And you know, Pandarvis having such a high guard.
24:02 He's leaving this.
24:03 - There's a right hand from Sando.
24:08 (crowd cheering)
24:11 - That's one thing about our young fighters.
24:18 A lot of guys, they like to head hunt.
24:22 And I'd like to see just more body work.
24:24 Especially in these shorter fights.
24:28 Seeing a little bit more body work
24:31 would definitely wear somebody down.
24:32 Then you can get in the fourth round, some knockouts.
24:38 I think everybody wants a flashy head knockout.
24:41 - Well, we are closing in on the end of our main event.
24:45 Sando and Pandarvis.
24:46 So clear it is Pandarvis.
24:59 And Medo Sando.
25:06 - I think Pandarvis had nothing to be ashamed about.
25:11 I think he had a great showing.
25:14 He knocked down a guy that has the potential
25:17 to be a champion one day.
25:19 So that was awesome.
25:23 - Believe Maidel Sando will get his 13th victory
25:26 without a loss.
25:28 Clear it is Pandarvis.
25:30 Did what clear it is Pandarvis usually does.
25:32 He gives his opponent something to think about.
25:35 He's very competitive.
25:37 And this will make Maidel Sando a better fighter
25:43 as he goes forward.
25:44 - Absolutely.
25:46 He's gonna watch this tape and see.
25:50 Again, two years off.
25:52 He's 34 now.
25:54 So left when you were 32.
25:56 That's hard to come back.
26:00 - Yes it is.
26:01 But he got six hard rounds in there.
26:04 And like I said, 2024 he's gonna hopefully
26:08 be a lot more active and try to put himself
26:10 into contention in the super middleweight division.
26:13 - Yeah, he should definitely in 24,
26:14 he should definitely get about four or five fights.
26:18 And maybe even six.
26:21 One every two months.
26:23 - It's clear it is Pandarvis comes over to shake our hand.
26:27 I finally got a handshake from a fighter.
26:29 - Look at you.
26:30 And it was the main event.
26:35 - Yep.
26:35 So we are just about ready for the scores
26:39 of our main event.
26:40 So let's go up to our ring announcer JT Conway.
26:43 - All right folks, we have a unanimous decision.
26:49 All three judges score the fight 58-55
26:54 for your winner, from the 615,
26:59 Maidel Sando!
27:01 Sando!
27:02 - There you have it.
27:07 Maidel Sando.
27:10 So, go.
