00:00 Hello, so I am here with Charlie who's a digital reporter at Bristol World and we are going
00:08 to be discussing the top five news stories in Bristol this week. So Charlie, what is
00:13 the first story this week?
00:16 Thank you Emma. So our top story this week is about a cocktail bar and restaurant has
00:21 become the first casualty of 2024. So a lunar on the corner of Broad Quay and Marsh Street
00:28 in the centre.
00:29 Thank you Charlie. So what is the general reaction being to the closure? Obviously it's
00:35 a really popular and well-known bar in Bristol. What's people been saying about that?
00:39 It is and it's in such a prime spot as well and I think people are just quite shocked
00:44 and sad because you know the announcement of the closure was sudden.
00:49 Thank you Charlie. Well that's a sad one for the city. So should we move on to our second
00:54 top story this week? Tell me a little bit about that.
00:58 So our second top story is about the Bank Tavern which is a pub in the Old City and
01:06 now this pub is known for its Sunday roasts. To much excitement they reopened their Sunday
01:12 roast bookings for 2024 on New Year's Day but they sold out within hours.
01:20 Thank you. Well that's a very exciting one for a small business so that's a nice contrast
01:26 from the first story.
01:28 Yes.
01:29 So shall we move on to our third top story in Bristol this week? Tell me a little bit
01:34 about that.
01:35 So our third top story is sadly another closure which is that this bingo hall in South Bristol
01:43 does bingo has announced that it is closing at the end of the month.
01:49 Thank you Charlie. So that's another sad one to kind of start the year for a business in
01:54 Bristol. So shall we move on to our fourth top news story this week?
02:01 Yes. So sticking in the Hengrove area of Bristol for our next one and it's been announced that
02:10 a play park has expanded its opening days to seven days a week.
02:17 Thank you Charlie. So shall we move on to our fifth and final top news story in the
02:22 city this week?
02:23 Our final top story is that a precious reddit ring containing the ashes of a man's son has
02:29 been reunited with its owner after being lost during a football game at Ashton Gate Stadium.
02:36 Ashton Gate staff have fortunately found the ring and on New Year's Day were able to reunite
02:42 it with Andrew and his wife Lauren who has a matching one.
02:47 Wow, I mean that really shows the power of social media then. So that's a really lovely
02:53 story to end on. Thank you Charlie. So that is everybody up to date with our top five
02:59 news stories in Bristol this week. Whatever you're up to, have a great day.
