00:00 Hi, I'm Charlie, I'm a digital reporter at Bristol World and here are your top five stories.
00:05 So our top story this week is about the Entertainer toy shop is closing down in the galleries
00:10 and now that's been there for several years now but they're saying that they've decided to close
00:16 due to the upcoming redevelopment of the galleries so the shopping centre is going
00:21 to be knocked down replaced with student housing, offices and a 28-storey tower
00:28 so the Entertainer have decided to shut the shop. It's only that store closing, they've also got a
00:34 store in Cabot Circus in Cribs Causeway and they are saying that those two are remaining open but
00:40 their gallery store will be closing in the new year. So our second top story is another closure
00:47 unfortunately which is that Showcase Cinema Deluxe in Cabot Circus will be closing so they will be
00:53 screening their final film on November the 30th and they're saying that they are closing because
01:00 they've been unable to agree a new lease with the Cabot Circus landlord and now this is one of the
01:05 biggest cinemas in the city, it's also known for being a luxury so a lot of people are quite
01:12 disappointed about it closing and not sure where else they're going to go but Showcase are saying
01:17 that the other cinema that they have in the city at Avonmead will remain open as an alternative.
01:23 So our third story is where I have visited Sea Mills which is a community in North Bristol
01:30 and it's just a sort of feature on the community there where 100 years after it was built there
01:38 really is still a strong sense of community here whether that's a local cafe on the square
01:44 or in the library but at the same time residents are also fighting for their community centre to
01:51 be reopened and also for there to be improvements to be made to local community tennis courts that
01:57 they have there. So our next story is that improvements are going to be being made to
02:02 a skate park in Victoria Park so this skate park has been called forgotten and run down but after
02:09 six years of negotiation and fundraising by the Bristol Skate Park Collective they now have a
02:16 total of £150,000 to create a new skate and wheels park for the local community there. So the park's
02:24 going to be closed for eight weeks starting on November the 20th and it will be replaced with a
02:30 brand new skate park for the local area. Final story is that a new unofficial blue plaque has
02:38 been unveiled in honour of Banksy. So this has mysteriously appeared next to his 'Mild,
02:45 Mild West' mural on Stokes Croft which the artist painted in 1999 but nobody seems to know why or
02:54 how it appeared there. So the plaque is in the style of an English heritage plaque which are
03:01 usually for historical figures.
