Dan Campbell Delivers Impactful Speech to Start Season

Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell delivered an impactful speech to start the 2023 season.

00:11 John, what do you make of that speech from the head coach, Dan Campbell?

00:16 Yeah, Vito. A lot of great content delivered by the Lions social media team.

00:20 When you look at what's been going on in regards to the Lions, you recognize,

00:25 "Okay, this is a football team that has been motivated, has been very much a group of individuals

00:31 that has played together, bonded for a common goal."

00:35 And it all started day one. Once the Lions eventually won the NFC North,

00:40 after they defeated the Minnesota Vikings, the video team released on social media,

00:45 on the Lions platform, a wonderful about five-minute video that kind of highlighted Dan Campbell's speech.

00:51 And boy, was it something that really will stick with you if you have an opportunity to watch it.

01:00 "On day one, everything that we do moving forward should be to work towards taking this thing forward."

01:07 And I think a poignant moment was having the leaders of the team turn around,

01:11 the entire team face the wall that had some of the last accomplishments that the team had.

01:16 Not winning the division in 30 years, not winning a championship since '57,

01:21 not being in the postseason for several years. You recognize that so many things could be accomplished this year

01:27 if the team bought in. And I just think that it was such a passionate, emotional speech,

01:32 and really highlighted by Dan Campbell saying, "This team, you guys, the 2023 Lions,

01:38 have an opportunity to build your legacy if you do all the right things."

01:42 And all you can say is it sets the tone for a group of individuals to try and accomplish something bigger than themselves.

01:48 And for Dan Campbell, I think something that allows him to be a successful NFL head coach

01:53 is his ability to motivate and to rally a group of men together for a common goal.

01:59 And that "build your legacy" speech really will go down among the many that really are telling
