00:00 >> Yeah.
00:01 >> And offensively, it's been a little struggle of late.
00:04 How good did it feel to get it going early tonight?
00:07 That moment, Rouse?
00:09 >> It felt good, man, just trusting in my team and
00:12 they having my back in practice.
00:14 Coach keeps telling me to keep shooting, no matter how bad I've been shooting lately.
00:17 But he's got confidence in me and that's what makes me be able to knock shots down
00:21 and keep being aggressive and not just like being laid back.
00:24 Like just keep being aggressive.
00:25 Coach kept telling me it's gonna come, so that's what happened.
00:28 >> How much does it help to see that first?
00:30 [INAUDIBLE]
00:33 >> Yeah, usually when I miss my first or
00:37 second one, I get like, I shouldn't shoot that next one.
00:42 But making the first one really helps me just with my confidence side of it and
00:46 just to keep shooting.
00:47 I see one go in and I just keep going from there.
00:51 >> Camilo, do you feel like you've showcased the full pack of skills down
00:56 the road and you've had trouble?
00:58 >> Yeah, I've been doing that all summer, just working towards it.
01:03 Both like that's who I am, I'm a big time post player.
01:08 So tonight I feel like I showed that to everybody.
01:11 >> Yes, you did.
01:13 >> Is there anything that you can do tonight and
01:18 your offensive line to help with?
01:21 >> Starts on defense, our whole team goes by that and
01:26 Coach West goes by that.
01:29 And what really gets me going and locked in into the game,
01:32 just being locked in is what gets me offensive.
01:36 But starting off good on defense and getting onto the board early,
01:40 is what gets my offense.
01:41 It's never my offense first.
01:43 Playing really good defense today and
01:46 attacking the glass really just going all together.
01:49 So that's what it really was.
01:51 And my teammates just picking me up next play,
01:53 somebody make a tough shot over me, next play and we keep moving.
01:56 >> [INAUDIBLE]
02:06 >> Just playing aggressive and
02:16 going to the rim and using my height, my weight, my strength to finish strong.
02:22 And my teammates just moving the ball, we move the ball really well.
02:25 We got a lot of assists by the end of the game.
02:27 And that's what really gets me going offensively, staying aggressive,
02:31 attacking hard and getting to the offensive boards, a lot of putbacks too.
02:35 >> Finally, Scott, you nailed big off that free.
02:39 How much does that help you?
02:42 >> Coach, he told me he wants me to get a marker,
02:47 two great post players, we both shoot it and
02:52 we both pass it, so I feel like just us two on the court, just stop.
02:59 So I'm just building that chemistry every day and
03:04 I feel like it's going to help me get off in the Big 12.
03:10 >> Can you describe what happened there at the end?
03:13 Generally, is it a good idea to even tell people?
03:16 >> No, no, no, I don't really want to tell anybody, but
03:20 I was just being out of character, who I am, so I apologize for that.
03:26 So I'm going to just avoid that in the future.
03:29 [BLANK_AUDIO]
03:37 >> Yeah, we work on that in practice.
03:39 We work on teams, we scout teams and see what they do, sometimes they get in,
03:43 sometimes they play in the game.
03:45 We run our zone plays that we run and we just execute them and
03:47 believe that they're gonna work in the game.
03:49 They don't, we trust our coaching staff to get us through.
03:53 >> Plus, you get to play a little bit more off the bounce,
03:57 attacking closeouts and passing.
04:00 How different does that make the offense?
04:02 It's kind of making teams pay for sticking with them, not just by shooting,
04:07 but also then attacking and passing.
04:10 >> CJ, he's a very experienced player, very smart player, very controlled player.
04:14 He doesn't ever force things.
04:16 When it's there, it's there.
04:17 When it's not, he knows how to get off the bounce and get people open.
04:20 Just him, he's just a complete player, totally.
04:23 So if they take him off the line, he'll make you pay by getting others involved.
04:26 [BLANK_AUDIO]
04:36 >> He just was aggressive and he's a very good player, both ends.
04:40 He can finish, he can shoot really well, he can run off screens really well.
04:43 Just a complete player and I think he just had his way with us trying to run him off
04:48 the line and then getting fouled and getting to the line a lot of times.
04:51 He got to the foul line a lot, so we were worried about that much more.
04:54 But it was just him being a complete player and
04:57 getting off playing aggressively, aggressively against us.
05:00 We didn't know how to respond at times.
05:01 >> You mentioned getting to the line.
05:03 That's been a problem for you guys over the past couple of weeks.
05:06 How do you shut that off?
05:08 Guys are a team that more often than not does a foul.
05:12 But you've had a couple games lately where you've been getting to the line
05:16 30 times.
05:17 >> We just gotta keep playing aggressive and in the right way.
05:21 We work on it every day in practice, just staying down, beating guys in spots and
05:25 then over us instead of us leaning towards them.
05:28 We just gotta stay disciplined, what we do every day in practice,
05:31 and just take it to the game and not get overwhelmed at times.
05:34 [BLANK_AUDIO]
05:37 >> Very good, hope you're there.
05:39 [INAUDIBLE]
05:44 >> I hope so.
05:46 Hopefully, just keep that confidence, just keep shooting it.
05:50 Coach, you've been working on my jump shot all summer, so
05:52 he wants me to show it to everybody.
05:53 So let's go.
05:55 >> Hunt you down?
05:56 >> I won't say hunt, but don't leave me open.
05:58 >> If it's there, it's there.
05:59 >> [LAUGH]
06:01 >> Damn, they got it out for that.
06:03 >> [INAUDIBLE]
06:06 >> But it was worth it.
06:08 >> That's good.
06:09 >> [INAUDIBLE]
06:14 >> We just weren't alert at times in
06:15 the beginning of the game.
06:16 They shocked us with how active they were.
06:19 They were really active on offense, just moving side to side, cutting,
06:23 getting to the offensive glass.
06:25 And we just had to talk, we talked in there, just staying together and
06:27 be more alert than them, and we knew it was gonna turn around our way.
06:30 >> There's a beauty of this team that's effective.
06:33 If one guy doesn't do it, there might be another.
06:36 You didn't score in the second half, but the final eight minutes,
06:40 split it up again, down two guys.
06:43 Even if one is having an off night, it seems like somebody else is stepping up.
06:49 >> Yeah, that's how I feel with this team, man.
06:51 We got a lot, a lot, a lot of guys.
06:55 We can have three guys just have an off night.
06:57 There's gonna be another player that can do the same thing.
07:00 We got a bunch of players that can get ten rebounds.
07:03 Got a bunch of players that can score 20.
07:05 Got a bunch of players that can get seven assists, like CJ Frederick tonight.
07:08 Seven assists, they're running them off the line, and
07:11 he was playing as a team player.
07:12 And career high, seven assists, getting people involved, making the team play,
07:15 running them off the line.
07:16 So yeah, we got a lot, a lot of guys.
07:19 Whole team.
07:19 Do a lot of things like that.
07:24 >> More questions?
07:24 Thanks, guys.
07:27 >> Thank you.
07:27 >> Have a good break.
07:29 >> Merry Christmas fans, love y'all, man.
07:30 Appreciate y'all.
07:31 >> [INAUDIBLE]
07:33 >> [LAUGH]
07:36 >> Welcome back, Skillings.
07:38 >> [APPLAUSE]
