Toyota is recalling approximately 1 million vehicles in the US across several Toyota and Lexus models from the 2020-2022 model years, due to a potential defect in the occupant classification system sensors in the front passenger seat. The defect could cause a short circuit in the sensor, resulting in the airbag system not detecting the passenger's presence and weight properly. This could cause the front passenger airbag to not deploy as intended in a crash.
