Top marks for the new Renault Megane E-TECH Electric: the all-electric newcomer is the brand’s 25th model to secure five stars in the independent Euro NCAP crash test. The Megane E-TECH Electric achieves top ratings for adult and child protection as well as for pedestrian safety and the equipment with driver assistance systems. The newly developed CMF-EV platform for electric vehicles forms the basis for the high level of safety.

Even the entry-level version of the new Megane E-TECH Electric has a large number of safety-related assistance systems: in addition to lane departure warning and safety distance warning, the vehicle is equipped with emergency brake assistant, drowsiness warning and traffic sign recognition with speed adjustment. The active emergency lane departure warning system, which is also available as standard, uses the front camera and front radar to detect the risk of a frontal collision with an oncoming vehicle at speeds above 65 km/h if the driver is about to overtake. The system also registers when the vehicle threatens to leave the road. In both cases, the active emergency lane departure warning system warns the driver with a visual warning signal and intervenes in the steering if necessary. Also new at Renault is the reversing emergency brake assistant, which is able to recognize pedestrians when reversing, for example, and carry out emergency braking if necessary.
