00:00 >> So many cusses or not, if you can get out of that without cursing.
00:06 >> We have like five minutes, so.
00:07 >> Yeah.
00:07 [BLANK_AUDIO]
00:09 >> I'm not shit on the floor.
00:11 >> I'm telling you, I'm ready for these now.
00:13 >> [LAUGH] >> Thank you, I appreciate it.
00:17 >> Okay, questions, guys?
00:19 >> Devontae, you got some young quarterbacks that you're going against
00:23 on a daily basis, Jack Jones, Jake, Nick Hobbs.
00:26 They bring a lot of swagger.
00:27 It feels and it seems, do you feel like they set the tone defensively and
00:32 that swagger is needed at that position?
00:34 I know you have to do a quarterback on the top.
00:36 >> Definitely, I mean, confidence, the swag, go hand in hand.
00:40 Something that they definitely bring and they take a lot of pride in.
00:42 I think it's something that kind of gets their psyche ready to play,
00:45 especially at that position.
00:46 So I mean, I love it, I love it.
00:48 It shows, like I said, it shows a lot of confidence.
00:50 It shows that you're into the game, you're in the moment,
00:54 which is something that you gotta be at that corner.
00:56 You gotta be locked in in the moment and
00:58 whether you got a bad play before you let that go.
01:01 And I feel like they do a really good job with that too, fighting adversity and
01:05 mixing it and playing together and mixing their own personal swag.
01:09 >> I know you were on the sideline when Jack made his play, but
01:11 did you get a chance to kind of look at that, what a great play that actually was?
01:15 >> Yeah, man, it was impressive.
01:16 That's one of the catches of the year for sure.
01:19 I mean, it was from the corner and taking into account breathing and
01:23 going to shoot his gun and all that, it's very impressive.
01:27 >> After the Vikings game, you talked about how this offense was closer than
01:32 people think to being really good, and then you had the Chargers game.
01:36 How important is it to back up what we saw on Thursday night on Christmas?
01:40 >> I mean, it's big for us.
01:42 It's something that we obviously know we're not expecting to have 60 points
01:45 every time we go out there, but it was more the play style and
01:49 the togetherness that we played with.
01:51 All three phases going on dominating it.
01:54 And as Jack Jones said, we was kicking ass.
01:56 So, we go out there and play together like that and play,
02:00 everybody do their job and play at a high level, it's fun.
02:02 So hopefully we can continue to do that, keep proving ourselves that we had time
02:07 to take that game, that we go out and be explosive, put up a lot of points.
02:11 At the end of the day, all you gotta do is have more money on the team.
02:14 >> Trey Tucker had a breakout last game.
02:16 What do you think is the key to his development during the season?
02:20 >> Just capitalizing on all those opportunities.
02:23 When you're a player like Trey, which is, I was in the Saints fighter in my career,
02:27 and a lot of other guys, Jacoby.
02:29 What sets you apart is not going out having a hundred yard game every time,
02:34 because it's not like you.
02:36 If you're not the number one guy, I've only had a couple of them this year, so
02:40 it's only so many go around.
02:41 But it's about capitalizing on the opportunities that you do get.
02:45 It's one, making that catch.
02:46 It's two, or three, or four, whatever it is.
02:49 Just continue to prove your worth to yourself,
02:53 which ultimately does it to your teammates and your coaches as well.
02:56 >> You got a guy like Trey, too,
02:58 with that kind of speed when he's able to hit on a couple of those deep balls.
03:00 How much have you noticed that kind of changed the defense's approach in terms
03:03 of keeping them honest with the things they do move around?
03:06 >> Well, I mean, whether it does or it doesn't, that's why we have him running.
03:10 That's not just a, he's not on dummy routes.
03:12 He's running legit routes where he has opportunity to make a play.
03:16 And sometimes he's the M.R.E.
03:19 depending on the play, and sometimes he's not.
03:21 You just gotta keep running like how he does and
03:23 follow through some of those plays like how he did last game.
03:27 I may be the first in the progression, and
03:30 then if they wanna play the defense how they typically do,
03:32 then it's gonna be one-on-one with somebody who's really fast and over the field.
03:35 So it just makes our job easier.
03:37 >> How did you know just being fast isn't enough to get over this lead?
03:41 Obviously, this is- >> It's the detail.
03:43 Ever since he came, I told y'all he's asking me all types of questions,
03:46 trying to pick my brain about why I run the route a certain way.
03:49 And like you said, it's not common that guys even care to,
03:55 I don't think it's that fast guys can't do it.
03:57 I just think that they take the easy way out, that they're fast and
04:00 they can get away with taking a super wide release on the go out rather than
04:04 actually doing a release on a guy getting miles over.
04:08 And if I could run like Trey, I would still be in those details like that,
04:11 just to obliterate the coverage every single time.
04:16 Cuz you look at that and I see there's only a couple guys in the league.
04:19 Tyreek has come a long way with his route running since he's gotten the league and
04:23 he can run the whole tree now.
04:25 So it's something that's impressive to see when the guys that have that God-given
04:29 turn it into apply their work ethic to it and realize their full potential.
04:33 >> And being the season's favorite gift you've received,
04:37 you're able to use?
04:38 >> Received?
04:46 I appreciate anything that I get, anything custom.
04:51 Custom not meaning like extravagant, but something like DD,
04:54 my receiver coach last year got me a 12-2 bag that I use for every game and
04:58 put one on one on it.
04:59 And this year he got me a wallet that says Uno inside, so
05:03 that's like his thing that he's been calling me.
05:04 So things like that, it doesn't have to be the top gift, but
05:08 I appreciate anything anybody gives me, so it doesn't really matter.
05:11 But as far as the gift that I've given, I don't know, man.
05:18 These guys are pretty appreciative too.
05:20 I've given a lot of gifts since I've been here.
05:21 I just got the whole room, some Louis stuff.
05:24 Took care of EB with some stuff too.
05:27 Did J's for the team a couple times.
05:29 Got them all beats this year and last year as well.
05:32 And they love everything that I do.
05:34 My mom made popcorn too, so a little bit of everything.
05:38 But definitely gonna stop, I take care of everybody in here.
05:41 All the guys that take care of me, I make sure I take care of them.
05:43 >> I was asking Aiden about, or Andre should say about the fact that Trevor Lawrence
05:46 got his whole offensive line with golf cards.
05:49 And obviously Aiden's on a little bit of a different deal.
05:51 You gotta take over that, right?
05:52 >> But no, I won't be doing that.
05:54 >> [LAUGH] >> I'm done with that.
05:57 I think that's really cool.
05:58 That's a lot better than some gifts that I've seen quarterbacks give across the
06:02 league, so that's a hell of a gift.
06:04 But Aiden's making color, I don't think he's ready for that gift.
06:07 So he'll do that when his time is right.
06:11 >> DeWante Antonio talked about how you guys have shown that you can compete with
06:15 the Chiefs, 17-0 last year, 14-0 this year.
06:17 What's the key to sustaining that and closing that out?
06:20 Taking that next step and just closing the deal?
06:23 >> Coaches and players working together.
06:25 Players executing whatever's called.
06:27 And coaches making sure we continue to have that aggressive mindset,
06:30 which ultimately makes things continue.
06:33 I mean, that's what typically puts us in that spot where we had that lead.
06:35 So whatever it was that got us there, we gotta stay with that.
06:39 Find a way to keep doing what we gotta do as players to keep moving forward and
06:44 make it happen.
06:45 >> All good?
