00:00 On the day of the trade department's closure of the fireworks and lights,

00:05 some non-licensed or approved fireworks vendors were caught.

00:10 This is not allowed by DTI.

00:12 14 pieces of this fountain were made by LF Fireworks

00:17 and a dozen boxes of 12 sparklers by Maribel Santa Ana Fireworks.

00:22 Both were marked with the Philippine Standard or PS mark,

00:25 and the items are proven to be licensed, even though it's not on the list of fireworks that manufacturers can make.

00:33 This fountain, on the other hand, looks like a new model of Sputnik Silver, approved by DTI.

00:39 The manufacturer could have just replaced the silver with gold,

00:44 then replaced the packaging.

00:46 We don't know what he replaced inside, but that's not allowed.

00:49 So it's a violation.

00:51 According to this vendor, the manufacturer might have made a mistake in placing the fireworks because of the appearance of the model.

01:02 In good faith, we're all here that if we see that it has a PS mark, it means it's approved by DTI.

01:09 It doesn't mean that it has a PS mark, it's legitimate.

01:15 The fireworks were caught and the retailers were given a notice of violation.

01:20 They could be fined up to P25,000 for each violation and P300,000 for the manufacturers.

01:29 DTI Assistant Secretary Amanda Nograles gave a notice that it's important to buy items with a PS mark

01:35 to make sure that it's not defective and safe to use.

01:39 The danger is that we're not sure if it's safe.

01:43 If it's not, it might explode or our properties might be damaged.

01:50 Consumers are also encouraged to be more vigilant.

01:54 They can double-check if the PS mark is legitimate on DTI's website or scan the QR code on this app if the product is imported.

02:03 Meanwhile, if the firecracker ban continues,

02:06 and if the fireworks ban continues, there are 15 manufacturers affected in the country,

02:13 while wholesalers and retailers are still not affected.
