00:00 This weekend we'll commence the operation for our Christmas New Year period this year.
00:05 It'll start at midnight this Thursday and it'll run through to midnight on New Year's Day.
00:10 So it's a comprehensive operation covering the whole state and obviously here in the Central West we'll have a significant presence on our roads.
00:17 Why are there more road incidents at this time of the year?
00:20 Well obviously traffic density is one issue. There are a lot more cars on the road.
00:24 There are people travelling around, getting around to see loved ones and so forth and going on holidays.
00:29 There are also people using the roads that don't usually drive on open roads and at speed so that's a factor as well.
