00:02 - UCLA beat Boise Saturday night in the LA Bowl.
00:06 But again, the press conference was better
00:09 than the actual game.
00:10 Chip Kelly was asked about what NIL and the portal
00:15 and conference realignment and all these things
00:17 ruining college sports.
00:19 Well, get back to my kids.
00:20 They're actually not that bad.
00:21 - What would your plan maybe be to try to solve it?
00:24 - I think they're all a problem
00:26 and I think we need to have a conference commissioner.
00:27 And I think football should be separate
00:29 from the other sports.
00:31 Just the fact that our school is leaving
00:32 to go to the Big Ten in football,
00:34 our softball team should be playing Arizona in softball.
00:38 Our basketball team should be playing Arizona in basketball.
00:41 But because football left.
00:43 And they say, well, how do you do that?
00:44 Well, Notre Dame's independent in football
00:46 and they're in a conference and everything else.
00:47 I think we should all be independent in football.
00:50 And you can have a 64 team conference
00:52 that's in the power of five
00:53 and you can have a 64 team conference in the group of five
00:56 and we separate and we play each other.
00:58 You can have the West Coast teams.
01:00 And then every year we play seven games
01:01 against the West Coast teams.
01:02 And then we play the East.
01:03 So we play Syracuse, Boston College, Pitt,
01:05 West Virginia, Virginia.
01:07 Then the next year you play against the South
01:09 while you still play your seven teams.
01:10 You can play a seven game schedule.
01:12 You can play four against another division opponent.
01:15 And you can always play against one Mountain West team
01:16 every year so that we can still keep those rivalries going.
01:19 Not that I've really thought about this.
01:21 Not that I've a lot of spent the time on this.
01:23 (laughing)
01:24 - That was great.
01:25 Like honestly, as I was listening to him,
01:29 I thought it was really smart.
01:32 - He's a hundred percent right.
