00:03 And then there's two stories I think to this game here.
00:06 The first story is, as you said, Washington just bizarre down the stretch.
00:10 And look, Ron Rivera with a new owner,
00:12 you know how this is gonna go for him at the end of the season.
00:16 He bought the team and got in basically when the season began.
00:19 So there's really no time to do it, but they're gonna make some changes.
00:23 The other thing that I would say is everyone is talking, Warren,
00:26 about how the Rams are playing and they're playing well.
00:28 But I'm shocked to see their defense giving up so many points on a weekly basis.
00:33 I know the total was high going into the game.
00:35 And look, Washington comes back when the game is over.
00:37 This has been happening every week for the last six weeks.
00:40 Once it's done, they come back.
00:42 But I wonder what your thoughts are also, how deep the Rams can go.
00:46 I mean, generally speaking, it's been Aaron Donald and
00:48 a great defense that's helped out, but I just haven't seen that this year.
00:51 >> Well, I did, missing the point here, but
00:56 just talking about McVay and his offense for a moment.
00:58 I did believe that this was a team that was just trying to be a little bit too
01:02 cute early on in that game.
01:04 They had plenty of opportunities to put up even more points early on,
01:09 that they sort of squandered.
01:10 In some cases, I thought some of the play calling down inside the red zone was
01:13 being too cute.
01:14 They also turned the ball over, I wanna say, two or three times in the first half,
01:19 like within the 40 yards to the end zone there on some of their drives.
01:23 I think they punted the first drive of the game and after that,
01:26 they weren't really scoring many points, but
01:27 they were just turning the ball over on fumbles.
01:30 But I do think that the Rams have a good enough offense.
01:33 When you look at them, part of my handicap in just taking the team total over was
01:37 the fact that this is a team that hasn't had Matthew Stafford and
01:41 Kyron Williams and Cooper Cup together since the first 11 weeks of the season.
01:48 Those guys just came together the last three weeks and
01:51 then last week was the fourth because of injuries to all three of those guys at
01:56 different points in time, Cup missed the first four,
01:59 then Stafford was hurt with a hip in week five, he played through it.
02:03 And then you had the injury to Kyron Williams who then ultimately came back.
02:06 So this offense is getting back on track and getting used to things and
02:09 working together.
02:10 But the storyline here to me was, apart from those turnovers,
02:14 was this incompetence out of the team from Washington.
02:18 And you're right, I mean, Ron Rivera, his string is short here in DC,
02:23 he's gonna be gone very quickly.
02:25 But this is just an example, I posted the last from four minutes and
02:29 40 seconds or so down to the two minute warning where they were substituting
02:33 personal on back and forth.
02:36 That allows the defense to substitute too, they were down 14 points,
02:39 they were letting the clock run on the play clock on a moving game clock.
02:43 Down within five seconds every single time,
02:45 they were huddling before every single snap.
02:47 It was as if they were up 14 points as opposed to be trailing 14 points.
02:52 And then the kicker of course was when you get to the other side of that two
02:56 minute warning, you finally punch your touchdown in, you're down by eight points.
03:00 The common thought process is let's go for two, we have a better shot.
03:04 We have no worse shot to at least tie this game,
03:07 if we are able to score two touchdowns.
03:09 We actually have a slightly better shot to win it outright.
03:12 If we try to go for two, and making matters worse is their center,
03:16 their long snapper, Cheeseman, he fumbled the snap.
03:19 He flubbed it earlier on in the game at one point in time.
03:22 So he flumbs it, fumbles it, rolls it down back to the holder,
03:27 then they miss the extra point.
03:28 And of course, then they're down by eight points.
03:30 And just if he had even made that extra point, it would have helped out some
03:34 of the guys who had bet the full game over or the Washington Commanders plus seven and
03:38 a half.
03:39 So just a disaster in game management 101 out of Ron Rivera.
03:44 And looking forward to a new coach getting in there and
03:47 trying to work some more magic because he's definitely not the answer.
