00:00 Good evening, welcome to your latest update. Many of us have seen a sunny end to the day
00:05 and those clearer skies will persist through much of the night. They'll even spread into
00:09 the southeastern areas of England where it's been a rather dull day. So plenty of dry and
00:14 clear weather overnight to come and as a result temperatures will drop off quite quickly so
00:18 it will be a chillier night tonight. In the south and east where we've had that drizzly
00:22 rain through the day we could see some mist and fog developing as well as a touch of frost
00:26 but rurally temperatures dipping down as low as minus two. But in towns and cities one
00:32 or two degrees that's enough to cause some frost on the car by the morning. However in
00:37 the north and west though it's going to be a mild night and that's because we've got
00:40 particularly strong winds across here through tonight and through much of the weekend as
00:45 well. You can see how tightly packed the ice bars are and that means that shows you the
00:49 strength of the wind. We've also got these frontal systems skirting along to the north.
00:53 These will wiggle and wave over the weekend marking the boundary between the cold air
00:57 to the north and the exceptionally mild air building in from the south. And as that mild
01:02 air arrives into Friday morning we'll see some cloud thicken from the west across parts
01:07 of Northern Ireland and Western Scotland and some drizzly rain arrive as well. It'll be
01:12 fairly light and patchy through the morning but will turn more persistent into the afternoon.
01:17 There'll also be some rain across parts of Wales and the Pennines into the afternoon
01:21 as well. Across the south and east though it'll be a much brighter day than recent days
01:26 with plenty of sunshine into the afternoon but temperatures will struggle after the chilliest
01:30 start eights or nines but much milder further west with 11 or 12 degrees for many areas.
01:36 That milder feel will continue to build into Friday night and to Saturday morning as we
01:41 see that milder really start to build up from the south and west. It'll stay dry for many
01:46 central and southern areas of the UK overnight on Friday night and into Saturday morning.
01:50 There'll be some clearer spells across the south and east but much of the rain will be
01:55 restricted to parts of Northern Ireland and mainly northern areas of Scotland and the
01:59 winds will really start to strengthen overnight but temperatures won't dip down much at all.
02:05 In fact the night time temperatures are expected to be higher than the day time averages for
02:10 this time of year for many areas. We could see temperatures not dipping down below 11
02:14 degrees across the far north of Scotland. So a very mild start to the weekend and it
02:20 will continue on that theme. We'll see a lot of clouds still coming in from the west. I
02:24 think Saturday will be the drier day of the weekend for southern and central areas but
02:28 there's still a lot of rain to come across the far north of Scotland and rainfall totals
02:33 will slowly build up here. It'll be a mild day with highs of 11 or 12 degrees for many
02:39 areas a milder day in the south and east than Friday but as I said a wet day across the
02:44 north west of Scotland and it will continue to rain through Saturday night and into Sunday
02:49 morning. Then as a result there is a weather warning in force for these areas. If you want
02:54 a full detailed forecast for your weekend make sure you take a look at our weekend forecast
