Chris Wilder met with the Sheffield United hierarchy earlier this week to discuss the immediate future of the club, including plans for the January transfer window and player contracts.

00:00 You mentioned this week that you were having a meeting about January.
00:03 I'm sure you're not going to tell us what the content of that meeting was,
00:06 but can you give us a feel for what a manager...
00:08 No, I'll tell you.
00:08 I'll tell you.
00:09 Oh, go on then, we'll just have all the info then here.
00:10 Yeah, no, I'll tell you.
00:11 Well, it talked about my quick assessment of the squad,
00:15 you know, what we need to do, in my opinion.
00:18 Maybe some players might be surplus, maybe the position Pacific that we might bring in.
00:22 We talked about players' contracts in terms of, you know, in January,
00:28 the younger players, tying them younger players down,
00:31 which is really key and important that we don't get into a situation
00:33 where players are walking out the door.
00:35 Sometimes it's impossible to deal with that, Rob,
00:37 if the player is stubborn and doesn't want to sign for the football club.
00:42 But the majority do want to.
00:44 They've been here for a long time.
00:45 So tying those young players down
00:48 and having a glimpse into what happens maybe at the end of the season.
00:51 But a real positive meeting.
00:56 Of course, off the back of two positive performances
00:59 gives everybody life and belief.
01:00 And I'm delighted that we've done that to give me
01:02 a little bit more of a stronger hand to push forward.
01:06 And you know what?
01:08 If we don't come through these games with the points that we want,
01:12 you know, I understand we might have to keep our powder dry as well.
01:15 But I'm sure that if we're in touching distance and
01:17 the people above us seeing the belief and the life that they've seen
01:22 and the fight that's in the team, then I'm sure they'll do whatever they can to back it.
