00:00 >> So here's the first question.
00:02 >> Go ahead, David.
00:04 >> First question, prime time against a division rival.
00:07 >> Yeah.
00:08 >> What's that like?
00:09 How hard or easy is it to get psyched up for a prime time game against a rival?
00:13 >> It's the best.
00:14 We play them twice a year, every year.
00:16 So I look forward to it every single time.
00:18 I can't wait to get out there.
00:19 >> What'd you see from Tyree on the inside last week?
00:22 And I guess having an explosive after the game.
00:25 Inside, how does that help you?
00:27 >> He did a really good job.
00:28 I think J-Rob did a really good job as well moving inside.
00:31 And we gave them a few different looks,
00:34 having I think four DMs on the field at once.
00:36 So if we could keep the offense guessing as much as we can,
00:39 I think that's gonna help in our advantage.
00:41 >> Actually, you were in a similar situation in 2021.
00:43 Four games left, you strung together four straight wins to get to the playoffs.
00:47 Is that kind of the message,
00:49 that they're literally still accepting the play for you?
00:52 >> Yeah, no doubt.
00:53 There's a lot of bullshit going around talking about shutting people down
00:57 because of this and that, but that's a bunch of bullshit.
01:01 At the end of the day, we play and train all year round to play 17 guaranteed.
01:06 So that's what we plan on doing.
01:08 We've got to finish the season strong, so it's literally one at a time.
01:11 Quick turnaround with the Chargers, so
01:13 we're definitely looking forward to getting out there again.
01:15 >> You're a football historian.
01:17 Anyway, where does Khalil Mack kind of rank on your kind of list of
01:21 head rushers, pass rushers, quarterback, sack guard, this kind of guys?
01:25 >> In this era, for sure, he's definitely gonna be up there.
01:28 He's one of the best in the last ten years, no question.
01:31 The dude is an absolute animal.
01:33 I've been watching him for a long time.
01:36 He's a Mack guy just like me, so got a ton of respect for him every time I see him.
01:42 I always show my respect for him, so yeah, got a lot of love for him.
01:47 Dude's an animal.
01:48 >> Feet off that when you go up against another guy like that?
01:51 Do you respect that much?
01:52 >> I respect everybody I go against, but
01:54 we're not playing against each other at the end of the day.
01:55 For me, I'm a competing version of myself.
01:59 I wanna be the best version of myself every time I step out there, so yeah.
02:03 >> Ultimately, it's about wins and losses, but when you look and
02:05 see that the defense has given up the back of your supports, and again,
02:08 you're a top ten defense right now.
02:10 >> Yeah.
02:10 >> Pride in that, that you guys have made those types of strides?
02:13 >> Absolutely.
02:15 All we heard all year was how our defense wasn't gonna be good, and this and
02:20 that, and for me, I've been here for my fifth year, and
02:23 I haven't been a part of a lot of great defenses.
02:25 So it's great to see.
02:27 We're definitely going the right way, but we gotta finish.
02:30 We don't play for 13 games, we play for 17.
02:33 So we gotta finish stronger than we started off.
02:37 >> How are you doing health wise?
02:38 >> I'm good, all good, healthy.
02:41 >> Patrick's obviously a play caller defensively, but what kind of impact has
02:44 Antonio had on the defense as a whole since he's been elevated to interim coach?
02:48 >> I think he's had an impact on us since day one.
02:51 He's been here for two years, and when he was in the linebacker room,
02:55 he had a great influence on the whole defense as a whole.
02:58 He always spoke up, he was always very vocal, and has always been a great leader.
03:03 So now he's in a head coaching role, we just hear him talk more.
03:08 But I feel like that's a direct reflection of how everybody feels
03:12 when he talks, and we feed off that energy, so it's been awesome.
03:16 >> You watched the game film, what's your evaluation of Easton Stick, and
03:20 kinda how excited are you to get after a quarterback with as much limited experience
03:24 he has?
03:25 >> Yeah, like you said, there's not a ton of film on him in general in the NFL.
03:30 He's only played a couple games, but he has a great background.
03:33 He's come from North Dakota State, had a lot of success there.
03:36 So for us, no matter who the quarterback is, last week, we had to prepare for
03:41 Josh Dobbs, and then Mullins, and then earlier in the year, it was Daniel Jones,
03:45 and all of a sudden, DeVito's playing.
03:46 So it's like, in the NFL, you never know exactly what's gonna happen.
03:49 But at the end of the day, you gotta be prepared, and that starts with yourself.
03:53 Putting yourself in the best position during the week with preparation, and
03:56 take care of your body, and
03:57 practicing the right way to be at your best on Sunday.
04:00 >> So do you plan to have an Easton Stick one up there next year,
04:02 for a transfer to Herbert?
04:04 >> This, I've had the same one there for a long time, but yeah, that's funny.
04:10 Yeah, we'll see about that.
04:11 [LAUGH] Definitely plan a few times for sure.
