00:00 >> As the window does kind of close for team success and postseason,
00:04 what keeps you motivated to go out and perform to your best?
00:08 >> Well, the opportunity, still have our opportunity.
00:13 It's not that window is not closed yet.
00:17 But yes, we're playing for our pride, for our name on the back, the front,
00:21 all that, so it's a lot of stuff to play for.
00:24 >> We didn't get a chance to talk to you after Sunday's game.
00:29 I mean, did you even see something like that coming at all from an offensive
00:33 side?
00:34 >> No, can't say I saw that coming.
00:37 It's not, you wanna be a part of history, but never that type.
00:41 So no, I did not see us doing that.
00:43 >> Anything that you can put your finger on on how it snowballed that way from
00:47 that point?
00:48 >> I don't know, man, just couldn't really get a rhythm,
00:50 couldn't establish really anything in the game.
00:53 So once we did, we obviously turned the ball over and
00:57 we just didn't make it easy on ourselves.
00:59 So that's what you're gonna get if you can't convert third down,
01:04 if you can't have explosive plays, it's gonna look like that.
01:08 >> I asked AP yesterday about getting the ball down the field,
01:11 attacking down the field, and he said he talks about it every week.
01:14 He's gonna continue, it's what he wants.
01:16 And I just asked Aiden, is it not getting called or not being executed?
01:20 He says it's both.
01:21 How critical for this team is that, Devontae,
01:24 getting the ball, attacking down the field?
01:26 >> It was critical for most teams, I think it is late.
01:28 These defenses are smart, there's a lot of defensive gurus out there,
01:34 do a lot of different things, exotic coverages,
01:36 repeating things if you have trouble with it.
01:39 So I think that's what we dealt with a lot this past game,
01:42 not being able to figure it out.
01:43 So they just continue to do things, variations of what was stopping us.
01:47 So obviously we gotta call more and we gotta throw more,
01:50 we gotta just give more opportunities and
01:52 the receivers gotta go and make it worthwhile.
01:55 So we all in it together, obviously it's gotta start with the call and
01:58 then we gotta find a way to execute the play.
02:01 >> When you have a game like you guys did Sunday,
02:02 is it good to have a game on Thursday right away to get back on the field and
02:06 get that taste out of your mouth?
02:08 >> Yeah, honestly, personally, I'm excited to play.
02:10 It works better if the team is healthy, you come out of that game good.
02:15 You wanna have opportunity to make it, kinda iron out some of those wrinkles and
02:20 just get that bad taste out of your mouth, like you said.
02:22 So for me, I feel good about it.
02:25 And I can't speak for every single person, but that's kinda how I take it.
02:30 >> I don't think the topic of wide receiver alignment has been discussed as
02:35 much as it has this week ever.
02:37 I guess what are your thoughts on watching that call and
02:39 how much do you think about that?
02:40 And what kind of process do you think is lined up for it?
02:45 >> I mean, it's pretty simple.
02:47 If you line up, if you talk to the ref in most cases,
02:50 I mean, I noticed it happened last year with Terry in Washington,
02:54 where he checked with the ref and it looked like he gave an okay and
02:58 then threw the flag room.
02:59 So most cases, I'd say 99.9% of the time, if you check with the ref, or
03:04 if you're a little bit behind the line, anytime you're in front of the ball,
03:06 it's gonna be tough.
03:07 I feel for them, cuz it sucks to have a play that's as cool as that was and
03:13 probably pretty difficult to execute, and then they went out there and
03:15 did it perfectly.
03:16 But yeah, I guess I'm sure it's tough for both sides in that situation.
03:21 So I just try to get with the ref, make sure I'm leading.
03:23 >> Have you ever had one called on you?
03:25 >> Being in front of the ball?
03:26 No, I've been off the ball before, or too far off the ball, but
03:29 never in front of it, though.
03:31 >> Do they give you any kind of a warning, something that was talked about to you?
03:34 >> They do.
03:34 Typically, they come over and say these things.
03:36 I mean, I think that's kind of, it's up to the ref's discretion.
03:40 They respect enough to give a warning to the first, be it the team or the player.
03:45 But yeah, like I said, I like to talk to them, make sure I get a thumbs up or
03:51 a head nod or something like that.
03:52 That way it's on tape at a very minimal, so
03:54 they'll get held accountable for if it's not right.
03:56 >> Do you watch the film or something, or
03:59 do you guys move on right away to the next game?
04:02 >> No, I watch all the film.
04:03 I don't, if it's a game like that, I'm not watching it right after the game.
04:07 I try to enjoy my night as much as possible.
04:10 But it's tough to not, because you wanna see exactly what happened, but
04:15 when you're in that type of mood after the game,
04:17 which I'm sure you understand how we feel after one like that.
04:20 And I mean, it's embarrassing too, not that that's the main thing that drives it,
04:24 but it's, you walk off that field and you got a lot of fans that can't pay their
04:29 money to come see you play, and you go up and put up a goose egg.
04:33 I mean, it almost looks worse that they only score three, too.
04:36 Sometimes you've seen plenty of teams win 22-0, whatever.
04:40 But when another team wins by three and
04:42 they only score three, it just looks horrible, so.
04:45 Hopefully we don't make any more history like that on this side.
04:49 >> How long did it take to get over it, or are you still not over it?
04:51 >> I mean, I'm moving past it, I'm not over it, but I'm past it for sure.
04:57 >> When you watch that film, do you talk about it with Aiden,
05:00 and kind of see some of what you guys may have missed, or
05:02 what's the report with Aiden about those kind of games?
05:05 >> Yeah, we communicate.
05:06 I mean, Aiden's a pro.
05:08 He understands that he doesn't know everything, and
05:10 that I don't know everything, and none of us do.
05:12 But the more we can work together and try to help each other out, and
05:16 obviously I have a lot more experience than what he does.
05:18 So I try to shed as much light as I can without becoming a QB coach, and
05:22 just talking through his process, and
05:25 talking through what I was thinking on certain things, so we can try to figure it
05:29 out.
05:30 The league doesn't really, they're not gonna go and
05:32 throw us exactly what happened and give us another opportunity, or
05:35 their Vikings even if we go to sidelines.
05:37 So the name of the game is execute when you have the opportunity.
05:41 But it is what it is, gotta know we now.
05:44 >> That's good.
