00:00 Pick me up a bag of jalapeno chips.
00:02 Alright.
00:03 Jalapeno?
00:04 What flavor is that?
00:07 Ricky.
00:08 Jay Simon.
00:09 Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the snacks that, while
00:13 they may be delicious, are full of ingredients that aren't things we should be putting into
00:17 our bodies on any kind of regular basis.
00:20 It's just a delicious log of joy.
00:23 Number 10.
00:24 Gummies.
00:25 We could start by talking about how the gelatin in most gummy candy is derived from collagen
00:29 taken from the skin and bones of animals.
00:32 But while that might be enough for some people to stop eating them, for the rest of us, the
00:36 amount of sugar and artificial ingredients should at least get us to slow down our inhalation
00:41 of these bouncy treats.
00:43 As an example, Starburst Air gummies have 100 calories and 20 grams of sugar per serving.
00:49 That's quite a bit, but this is also where we tell you that one serving equals six gummies.
00:54 When's the last time you ate just six gummies?
00:57 All I've had to eat for the past six days are gummy bears, jelly beans, and candy corns.
01:01 God, I wish I had your discipline.
01:04 Number 9.
01:05 Cliff Bars.
01:06 Jillian, where are my cliff bars?
01:08 If you're looking for a protein boost, then there's no doubt that a cliff bar can provide
01:12 it.
01:13 With 10 grams of protein per bar, that's a solid amount for a quick and easy snack.
01:17 The problem comes if you're using them as a snack rather than a supplement to your hard
01:22 workout.
01:23 The issue comes in the form of about 250 calories and 17 grams of sugar per bar, which, if you
01:30 aren't working out hard, is a heck of a lot each.
01:33 You're saying all this is free?
01:36 Even the Sun Chips?
01:38 Even the Cliff Bars?
01:39 Especially if you aren't a regular at the gym, there are many better ways to get your
01:44 protein without the extra calories and sugar that these bars provide as well.
01:48 Number 8.
01:49 Orville Redenbacher's Pour Over Movie Theater Butter Popcorn.
01:53 Look, we get it.
01:54 For many of us, it's impossible to watch a movie without a bowl of popcorn in front of
01:58 us.
01:59 And on its own, popcorn is actually a rather healthy snack choice, with three cups of the
02:03 stuff providing a solid fiber kick and barely more than 90 calories.
02:08 However, you'll notice that we're not talking about plain popcorn here.
02:12 This is Orville Redenbacher's Pour Over Movie Theater Butter Popcorn.
02:16 Instead of 90 calories, you're looking at 180.
02:19 And instead of 1.1 grams of fat, Redenbacher's buttered product throws 14 grams at you, along
02:25 with 330 milligrams of sodium.
02:28 That's a big difference, and makes sticking to the plain stuff well worth your body's
02:33 while.
02:34 Number 7.
02:35 Hot Pockets.
02:36 While we love Hot Pockets for being the impetus for the classic Jim Gaffigan stand-up routine,
02:41 we suggest you just watch that bit over and over again every time you have a craving for
02:45 these unhealthy snacks.
02:46 "I've never eaten a Hot Pocket and then afterwards been, 'I'm glad I ate that.'
02:51 I'm always like, 'I'm gonna die.'"
02:54 We can start by talking about the enriched flour and processed meats that provide very
02:59 little if any nutritional value.
03:01 And as for the numbers, it ain't pretty.
03:04 Each Hot Pocket will fill you with over 300 calories, around 15 grams of fat, and roughly
03:09 700 milligrams of sodium.
03:11 And if your typical snack time is two of them, then just double those numbers.
03:15 These are high numbers for a full-on meal, let alone a midday nosh.
03:19 Number 6.
03:20 Cheetos.
03:21 If the only issue with Cheetos was the orange fingerprints one leaves everywhere after snack
03:25 time, then we'd say go for it.
03:27 T-shirts and couches be damned.
03:30 But unfortunately, the powdered fingers are the least of our worries when it comes to
03:33 these puffy snacks.
03:34 "What is that?"
03:35 "Cheetos."
03:36 "Crunchy or puffed?"
03:37 "Puffed."
03:38 "Wimps."
03:40 You probably assumed they weren't super healthy given their bright, artificial-looking orange
03:44 color, and you would be correct.
03:47 And besides the "artificial color yellow six" listed in their ingredients, you'll also find
03:52 stuff like monosodium glutamate.
03:54 Yup, there's MSG in Cheetos.
03:57 One serving, only 17 Cheetos, also provides you with 160 calories, 10 grams of fat, and
04:04 270 milligrams of sodium.
04:06 Dangerously cheesy indeed.
04:09 Number 5.
04:10 Twinkies.
04:11 The idea that Twinkies and cockroaches would be the only things to survive a nuclear war
04:15 is just an urban legend.
04:17 At least as far as Twinkies go.
04:18 "Everyone knows there are only two things that can survive a nuclear holocaust.
04:23 Cockroaches and Twinkies."
04:24 In their packaging, Twinkies have a shelf life of about 25 days, and are not filled
04:28 with nuclear-level preservatives.
04:30 However, whether they've been sitting on the shelf for 25 days or 25 years, they are really,
04:36 really unhealthy.
04:37 "Here, you can have one."
04:38 "No, I'm good.
04:39 I appreciate it.
04:40 I'm on a diet."
04:41 Starting with 32 grams of sugar per two Twinkies, which shouldn't shock anyone given that the
04:45 first ingredient on the packaging is sugar.
04:48 And a little farther down the list is high-fructose corn syrup.
04:51 To that, we can also add 370 milligrams of sodium, 9 grams of fat, 47 grams of carbohydrates,
04:58 and a whopping 280 calories.
04:59 "If you want your sister to lose weight, tell her to get off the couch, stop eating
05:00 Twinkies, and maybe go out for field hockey."
05:07 Number 4.
05:08 Pop-Tarts.
05:09 We totally understand the convenience factor when it comes to a Pop-Tart snack.
05:13 They're super quick, even quicker if you eat them right out of the packaging, as many do.
05:17 But we do need to warn you, they are also super unhealthy.
05:21 To go along with the enriched flour, Pop-Tarts are made with not one, but three kinds of
05:25 sugar - corn syrup, refined white sugar, and high-fructose corn syrup.
05:30 One serving of two Pop-Tarts can have between 15 to over 30 grams of sugar, depending on
05:36 the flavor and whether you choose frosted or unfrosted.
05:39 But if you're really trying to count calories, unfrosted is definitely the way to go.
05:44 "Okay, Scott says he is not himself in the morning until he has a Pop-Tart.
05:48 Well, what if they stop making Pop-Tarts, huh?"
05:51 Number 3.
05:52 Nutella.
05:53 It isn't exactly surprising that spreadable chocolate isn't healthy for you.
05:57 But it has nuts in it, so that makes up for it, right?
06:05 In fact, it really isn't healthy at all when it comes right down to it.
06:09 We should start by mentioning that a serving of Nutella is described as "one tablespoon"
06:14 and contains 110 calories, 11 grams of sugar, and 6 grams of fat.
06:19 Now consider how many tablespoons worth you consume in one sitting and multiply those
06:24 numbers by said amount.
06:26 That's when things start to get really scary.
06:29 "When his diet crashes and burns into a giant pile of Nutella, I'm the one he's gonna blame."
06:34 Number 2.
06:35 Oreos.
06:36 We could argue about the best way to eat an Oreo.
06:39 Do you dunk it in milk?
06:40 Do you open it up and eat the cream first?
06:42 "French fries and Oreos.
06:44 You know me all too well, Jeeves."
06:46 However, while there are valid arguments on all sides of the "how to eat an Oreo" debate,
06:51 there's only one side to the "are Oreos healthy" conversation, and that side is unfortunately
06:56 unhealthy.
06:57 Now, if you can limit yourself to just one single Oreo cookie every now and then, it
07:02 wouldn't be too terrible.
07:04 With each cookie containing a little over 2 grams of fat and just under 5 grams of sugar.
07:09 However, along with there being pretty much zero nutritional value to Oreos, for most
07:13 of us, a typical serving lands closer to "one full sleeve" than "one full cookie."
07:19 "I made one giant Oreo."
07:20 "Luke, what are you doing?
07:24 You gotta eat it like it's an ear of corn."
07:26 "Genius."

07:44 Number 1.
07:45 Potato Chips Potato chips might just be the most popular
07:48 go-to snack.
07:49 "Careful, they're ruffled."
07:51 Most of us probably have an open bag of our favorite flavor in the cupboard right now,
07:55 if not sitting open on the table beside you at this very moment.
07:59 "If you don't stop eating those chips, you won't have any appetite for your lunch."
08:03 It's true that potato chips are made with potatoes, and potatoes provide nutritional
08:08 value in the form of vitamin C and potassium, among others.
08:11 But when it comes to chips, those positives are pretty easily outweighed by the higher
08:15 than desired fat and sodium numbers.
08:18 And potato chips are another snack that you really need to pay attention to serving size.
08:23 What starts out as a simple handful of chips can quickly escalate into whole or multiple
08:28 bags if you're not careful.
08:30 Which of these unhealthy snacks are you going to stop eating, and which will you never be
08:34 able to give up?
08:35 Let us know in the comments!
08:36 "Let's see, I'll have the Caesar salad and the hot pocket."
