00:00 It's a hugely costly scheme that hasn't seen one single asylum seeker sent to Rwanda.
00:05 The government spent £140 million on the scheme initially.
00:09 We've now learned that an extra £100 million has been spent, with a further £50 million
00:14 due to be spent next spring.
00:16 That's almost £300 million of taxpayers' money without a single asylum seeker being
00:22 sent there.
00:23 It's an unworkable scheme.
00:24 Even people on the Conservative benches don't think that it will work.
00:29 And that's why we're not supporting it.
00:31 We would replace the scheme with a scheme that we think would work.
00:35 And that involves going after the criminal gangs.
00:38 So using the money, rather than for this scheme that isn't going to work, instead using it
00:43 to set up a cross-border police force to go after the criminal gangs that are bringing
00:46 people over in small boats in the first place.
00:49 We would also employ an extra 1,000 caseworkers to deal with the backlog.
