The owner of a bulk sewing company, Mariyah Holdings Sdn Bhd, Mariyah Yaakob pleaded not guilty at the Ayer Keroh Sessions Court on Thursday (Dec 7) to a charge of making racist remarks against the Malay community.
The Cambodian woman, 47, made the plea after the charge against her was read before Judge Mohd Sabri Ismail.

00:53 He was charged with committing the offence with the intent to hurt the feelings of others,
00:58 and the video was viewed on the same date, time and location.
01:03 The offence was framed under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act,

01:12 If convicted, the offender could be fined not more than 50,000 ringgit or imprisoned

01:19 The court allowed bail at 15,000 ringgit and 10,000 ringgit for Maria and Ezwan respectively.
