00:00 In life, we all want to be the best we can be.
00:02 I mean, who wants to settle for anything but less than perfect, right?
00:05 But how exactly can we achieve personal perfection?
00:08 Through an active lifestyle, a healthy disposition, and a positive outlook in life.
00:13 And that's where we come in.
00:14 I am Maggie Wilson.
00:16 And I'm Terrelly Carros.
00:17 And this is Fit and Fab, your ultimate guide to being a better you.
00:20 Reach for the sky.
00:24 Dance to the beat, yeah.
00:29 Pamper yourself.
00:31 Go all out, yeah.
00:36 Be fit.
00:38 Be fab.
00:40 This is your time to be all that.
00:44 Be fit.
00:46 Ooh, be fab.
00:48 This is your time to be all that.
00:55 We've got a lot in store for you tonight to get you on that road to self-improvement.
00:58 From exercises to get your body ready for the summer,
01:01 to better ways to boost your self-confidence,
01:03 to fashion tips in the office.
01:05 So what are we waiting for?
01:06 Let's jumpstart the new you with our Fit Side.
01:09 Summer is now finally upon us.
01:11 And you know what that means.
01:13 Longer days with hotter temperature.
01:15 How do you beat the heat while working out?
01:17 Simple, of course.
01:18 All you need is a swimsuit and a swimming pool.
01:20 Watch this.
01:22 Summer is now in full gear.
01:29 But working out in this extreme heat and humidity is certainly no fun.
01:33 How do you stay cool?
01:37 By staying in the water, of course.
01:44 Water exercises are the best way to work out under the sun without overheating.
01:48 You can get a full body workout without even breaking a sweat.
01:51 What's good with water workout, it develops your body,
01:56 develops the muscles, it tones each and every part of your limbs,
02:00 your arms, your legs.
02:02 It's low impact, so even if you're working out, you don't feel it.
02:07 It prevents injury because you're buoyant.
02:10 There's some resistance in the water,
02:11 so whichever direction you go, the water is there resisting and also supporting you.
02:18 An added incentive?
02:19 Water workouts are definitely more fun and socially interactive.
02:23 Spend time at the pool with your friends while also trying out these exercises.
02:27 But if you're not exactly a champion swimmer, no problem.
02:31 If they don't know how to swim, at least have somebody there with you
02:34 who knows how to swim and who can watch over you while you're doing your water workout.
02:39 Well, I think we're convinced that aquatic workouts are great for the body.
02:43 So guess what? We're off to give it a try.
02:45 Like most physical exercises, it's best to do some stretches before beginning your water workout.
02:54 For our first exercise, we're going to do dip dips.
02:57 Stretch your arms in front of your body with your hands cupped and facing down.
03:01 Then, bring your arms down and extend them as far behind your body as you can.
03:06 Flip your palms upward and bring your arms forward again
03:09 until they break the surface of the water in front of you.
03:12 The dip dip exercise tones and defines your deltoids.
03:15 Do 15 reps and you'll definitely feel the burn.
03:18 The third exercise is for the chest and shoulders, the up and down pull.
03:23 Extend both arms straight out to your sides at shoulder level.
03:26 Palms should be down and fingers should be held firmly together.
03:29 Bring the arms down until your hands touch the front of your hips.
03:33 Without changing your hand position, lift the arms straight to the starting position
03:37 and use equal force as you pull down and lift up.
03:40 Let's now target our abdominal muscles with crunches.
03:44 Lean your back against the pool wall, bracing your arms across the side of the pool.
03:48 Slightly lift both your legs and toes off the floor.
03:52 Keep legs straight in front of you, knees together and toes pointed.
03:56 Bring your knees close to your chest, bending the legs as you form a crunch position.
04:01 Release and extend your legs with toes almost touching the floor.
04:04 Remember gals, your back should always be against the pool wall.
04:08 A more difficult ab exercise is the pendulum.
04:11 Stay braced against the pool wall and hold your legs together straight in front of you.
04:17 If this hurts your lower back, slightly bend your knees.
04:20 Swing both your legs as far as you can to the right and then to the left, just like a pendulum.
04:26 Your contact with the pool wall will rock from one hip to the other.
04:31 To tone your legs, you can do lateral leg lifts.
04:34 Stand with your right hand on the side of the pool and your hips perpendicular to the pool wall.
04:39 Maintaining erect posture, lift your left leg directly to the side.
04:44 Keep the feet parallel so that the knee points forward rather than upward.
04:48 Lift the leg only as high as you can without altering your upper body position.
04:52 Then pull your left leg back to the starting position.
04:59 When you're done with that, you can water jog.
05:01 You can jog in place or across the pool.
05:04 Just lift your legs alternately in a controlled motion.
05:07 Water jogging gives you a high impact leg workout in a low impact setting.
05:12 Because of this, it's really good for cross training for other sports.
05:16 Our last water exercise is called the front flutter kick.
05:20 Turn around and brace yourself facing the side of the pool.
05:23 Hold the pool gutter with both hands and lift your hips and legs behind you and begin shallow straight leg kicking.
05:29 When comfortable doing the kicks, you may opt to use the kickboard.
05:33 Front flutter kicks are great for toning the legs and the abs.
05:36 Talk about hitting two birds with one stone.
05:39 And after immersing ourselves in the water for half an hour and experiencing those challenging exercises,
05:46 Are you tired?
05:48 Of course, who wouldn't be tired? You thought you'd be slow?
05:52 You're leaning against the wall, the water is resisting you every step of the way.
05:57 They're asking you to raise your legs.
05:59 Seems easy, but the hardest thing for me was the pendulum.
06:04 You have to maintain your legs.
06:07 It's like an L-pose.
06:10 You're slipping, you're trying to resist it.
06:13 When they say it's a total body workout, they really mean it.
06:17 Every single part of you.
06:19 But it's worth it.
06:21 It's fun.
06:22 For maximum results, you can do these for 30 minutes a day for thrice a week.
06:26 We guarantee that these workouts will work out your entire body while you're having fun under the sun.
06:32 Update your wardrobe with these fabulous fashion tips, coming up next.
06:40 There's a new revolution sweeping across the workplace, a fashion revolution.
06:48 Gone are the days of drab grays and button-down shirts and pencil skirts.
06:52 Today's workwear has new colors, shapes, and forms.
06:54 Join the new wave that's sweeping across our offices.
06:57 Here's how to update your workplace wardrobe.
07:00 Officewear has evolved from the classic neutral-colored button-down top and pencil-cut skirt to more fun and colorful shapes and forms.
07:15 While everyday isn't exactly casual Friday in some offices, you can still tailor your wardrobe to show off your inner fashionista while adhering to the company dress code.
07:24 There was never really a drastic change in the career style or silhouette.
07:31 It changes only maybe in decades, but it still is in the very basic silhouette.
07:40 So what you can do is probably accessorize it, shorten or lengthen it, put an inner blouse, choose a color, put a modern color and infuse it.
07:53 To find great work wardrobe choices that won't drain your wallets, we headed over to The Black Shoppe, a store that definitely has a misnomer for a name.
08:03 A fresh grad would be willing to wear.
08:06 This fits our budget.
08:09 There is the very loud colors right now.
08:13 Basically the blues, the emerald greens, the loud ones, mustard on the brighter side.
08:20 And we'd rather that you tone it down and you can use these colors for your inner.
08:34 What makes this updated and modern, the first thing you would notice is the color combination.
08:40 It's not the basic black and white, gray, brown.
08:44 This one, she paired a set of olive green top and bottom and then she used a rust colored inner.
08:52 That's the first thing you notice in this collection.
08:55 And then with this style, it's not the basic lapel, it's well rounded.
09:00 And then it is accentuated with a built-in belt which we tied into a bow, which made it more updated and a little bit kikay at the same time.
09:10 Yes, accessories really add a little something something to any outfit.
09:15 And for women's work wear, the right accessories goes a very long way.
09:22 Crowns, crowns! Okay, this is for me, this is for Maggie, and this is for Nadia. Yay!
09:31 Well, you can accessorize it with brooches perhaps.
09:35 It's not really the outfit that will make the look.
09:38 It's the entire look. You can also accessorize it with earrings perhaps just so it can have that corporate thing and help modernize it.
09:48 What she's wearing right now is a basic corporate dress and what made it modern and updated are the sleeves.
09:55 Puff sleeves and balloon sleeves are very in right now.
09:59 And then it's still the classic A-line which we accentuated with a sash.
10:04 And then to break the monotony of the color, we added this big brooch, this green big brooch just to add sparkle and detail to the outfit.
10:14 Bags and shoes are perfect. Oh, because the colors now, we always would want it toned down.
10:20 So you can perhaps push it up again with colored bags and shoes.
10:25 Use softer materials. And it's usually flowy when you use softer materials.
10:32 We have jackets that are made of softer materials.
10:36 To update the basic or the typical corporate look, all we need to do is just to add accessories to make it more modern.
10:45 What we can do also is to button this up, put in the collar, and then just add on a white belt to complement the inner.
10:56 So it would somehow look like this.
10:58 To make this modern and updated, all we need to do is just to open the jacket so that the detail of the inner would be seen.
11:07 Like this, it has pleats and then it has black buttons to complement the collar of the jacket.
11:14 And then we can also put out the sleeves, the cuff of the sleeves, so that it would complement the inner.
11:24 With this one, we can change the detail from necktie to a bow.
11:31 And for the day-to-night working woman, a wardrobe that matches her lifestyle.
11:35 What would be the best wear? How would you transition from corporate day wear to an evening wear?
11:41 Make ba on your sexiest pair of high-heeled shoes.
11:45 With the right clothes, colors, and accessories, you can break the drone and monotony of your daily work routine.
11:51 So, make it work ladies!
11:54 Coming up on Fit and Fab, 5 food myths busted. Stay tuned!
12:04 Chocolates give you pimples, right?
12:11 Wrong!
12:13 It's just one of the many food myths that we all know and believe.
12:16 We did our own sleuthing to find out that what you believe in may not necessarily be true.
12:21 Here's 5 food myths busted Fit and Fab style.
12:24 Let's talk about food.
12:33 Because admit it, we also have our own superstitious beliefs about them.
12:37 Past one from Lala to Mommy to us.
12:40 Food myths are exactly that.
12:42 Old wives tales that aren't true.
12:44 Period.
12:46 So Fit and Fab went out to find 5 popular food myths.
12:50 Our mission? To debunk these false facts once and for all.
12:54 Let's start off our list with a little food for the brain.
12:58 Eating nuts make you intelligent?
13:01 My teachers used to tell me to eat nuts before taking an exam because it makes you smarter.
13:07 Though munching on peanuts can help you stay awake and alert during long hours in class or at work, it's not the best way to feed your brain.
13:14 Because peanuts, they contain what we call as niacin, it helps in terms of blood flow to our brain.
13:22 Now it can contribute to that.
13:24 But if you're just going to eat peanuts, you won't be intelligent if it's just peanuts.
13:30 You definitely have to have other nutrients as well so that your brain can function properly.
13:37 So instead of buying kilos of peanuts to boost your IQ, why not hit the books instead?
13:42 Myth 1. Eating nuts make you intelligent?
13:46 Busted!
13:47 Yogurt is the perfect diet food.
13:50 I know that yogurt makes you thin. So I believe in that.
13:55 Yogurt has long been seen as every dieter's best friend.
13:58 But guess what? Certain types of yogurt can be as fattening as ice cream.
14:03 Believe it or not, Greek yogurt has 10 grams of fat.
14:07 You have to remember it's not the only product you should use in terms of if you want to lose weight.
14:13 Because there are instances where they use yogurt for a yo-yo diet.
14:18 That means if you want to lose weight fast, they say you just take in a lot of yogurt, after a week you're going to lose so and so pounds.
14:25 That's not true.
14:27 So check on the nutritional facts of your yogurt brand to make sure that it's as low-fat as it claims.
14:33 Myth 2. Yogurt is the perfect diet food.
14:37 Busted!
14:38 Diet drinks can help you lose weight.
14:40 I believe that diet cokes, the diet products that you drink, help you lose weight.
14:47 That's why I drink them.
14:50 Fact is, a can of regular cola contains about 8 teaspoons of sugar and gives you 675 flab-forming kilojoules.
14:59 Which is probably why diet colas with only 10 kilojoules in them are the popular alternate drink for cola addicts.
15:06 There are studies that were conducted that showed that if you take in diet cola, it has low calories, 0 calories because of the artificial sweeteners.
15:16 Even if you take those, they actually trigger food cravings.
15:20 So your tendency is, even if you don't eat or drink a lot of cola, because of your diet drink, you might actually start consuming more foods.
15:31 More of the different types of foods.
15:33 You'll notice that when you take in cola with your meal, it's easier to eat compared to if you just take it with regular water.
15:39 Myth 3. Diet drinks can help you lose weight.
15:43 Busted!
15:44 Coffee causes a rise in blood pressure.
15:47 We know that coffee can make you nervous if you drink too much of it.
15:53 That's why we don't drink coffee.
15:55 According to the study of Australian researcher Jack James in 1998, 3-4 cups of coffee taken in a day tend to slightly increase the lower level of blood pressure.
16:05 But coffee alone cannot increase levels in blood pressure.
16:09 Fact is, those palpitations one experiences after a cup is due to one thing.
16:15 Coffee contains caffeine that acts like both a stimulant, so it also works as an energizer.
16:22 Myth 4. Coffee causes a rise in blood pressure.
16:26 Busted!
16:27 Eggs make you fat.
16:29 I avoid eating eggs because I'm conscious with my body.
16:32 On the contrary, eggs are actually low in calories, high in vitamins, and nearly perfect in protein.
16:38 Eggs in itself will not make you fat if you just consume one a day, which is actually what's recommended now.
16:45 What we do to promote eggs is to make sure that you eat less of the cholesterol coming from it.
16:53 It's more of the yolk, the cholesterol. The egg whites don't contain cholesterol.
17:00 So the next time you want a fat-free serving of eggs, take out the egg yolk.
17:06 Myth 5. Eggs make you fat.
17:09 Definitely busted!
17:11 There you go, ladies. With five food myths busted, it just goes to show that not everything you believe is true.
17:18 If you've always wanted to take up running but don't know where to start, we've got just the thing for you.
17:30 Jogging 101 is up next on Fit and Fab.
17:34 If you've always wanted to kick off your jogging habit but never really knew where to start, we've got just the thing for you.
17:40 Jogging is one of the most effective, convenient, and time-efficient forms of exercise.
17:56 With just a good pair of running shoes, you can burn more calories and lose less weight.
18:01 With just a pair of running shoes, you can burn more calories and lose less weight.
18:04 First things first, fashion.
18:14 In jogging, you can indulge your inner fashionista while getting a good sweat because it's essential to have the right apparel and footwear.
18:21 When the shoes have air, we scoop out a chunk of foam in it.
18:25 We replace it with air, which gives you more bounce and returns more energy as compared to foam.
18:33 This is good for beginners because it's lightweight.
18:36 It's not built for racing, but it's good for long runs and short, quick races.
18:43 Choosing the right shoe will make you feel more comfortable when you run and prevent you from incurring foot injuries.
18:50 For this shoe, since we're talking about beginners, I suggest that they start with an encapsulated air shoe.
18:58 That's the simplest and most basic cushioning that we provide our consumers with.
19:05 And if you're flat-footed, you'll be happy to know that there are certain shoe models that are perfect for you.
19:11 This is the shoe that I would suggest they go for.
19:14 If you'll notice, this has a larger dual-density area, so it gives you more support.
19:21 When it comes to apparel, steer clear of heavy fabric and stock up on light, quick-drying material.
19:28 There are sections where women need more cooling.
19:33 So like in the chest area, in the backside, under the armpits, here on the side.
19:40 That's where women sweat the most.
19:44 In a lot of our apparels, particularly for running and for training, you'll find sections with mesh.
19:51 The weaving used here is less.
19:54 And the zoning portion for cooling, the mesh, it's all in the right places.
19:59 So here on the side, this is all made of mesh.
20:02 So there's ventilation here. Air comes in, goes out the other side.
20:06 Here again, as we said, where we perspire a lot, we have a mesh portion here.
20:11 And in the backside, that's where we have the mesh fabrication.
20:16 And again, we still have here our reflective tape.
20:20 And even the cut that they made here, it really gives you more form.
20:25 This shirt is a body-mapping T-shirt, which means it follows the contour of your body.
20:35 And it also maps out the hip zones of our body.
20:40 So here, if you can see, there are more holes on the top.
20:43 In the back is the regular Nike Fit fabric.
20:47 And if showing off your legs in a pair of shorts isn't your thing, you're in luck.
20:53 So you can see it here, it's cut, it has a slit here.
20:58 So that when you fold your knees, it's not uncomfortable.
21:02 It has a slit. And then it goes all the way here, where most of our perspiration normally is for women.
21:09 And don't forget the most important part of your workout wardrobe.
21:13 Proper support for your breasts.
21:15 Some people, as I said, are comfortable using this.
21:27 So this is normally seen inside the gym, that their outfit is like this.
21:31 See this portion here, this is mesh.
21:35 In the front, there are also mesh portions right here.
21:38 And there's support here.
21:40 And underneath, there's a built-in support for the cup.
21:43 So you don't have to change it.
21:45 And for optimal running performance, it's recommended that you strap on one of these babies.
21:50 A workout-specific watch that monitors your heart and pulse rate before, during, and after your workout.
21:56 A good heart rate monitoring watch should monitor the percentage of your zone,
22:01 monitors your calories burned, and your fat burned.
22:05 Before heading out for a run, it's always important to remember a couple of things to ensure minimal physical wear and tear.
22:12 Eat a lot of carbs.
22:14 Never do exercise without eating.
22:17 Before you run, make sure that you check your posture first.
22:20 Now, how are you going to check your posture?
22:22 Stand tall.
22:23 Make sure that your chest is out.
22:25 Everything is level.
22:26 Your hips, your feet is level with your hips.
22:29 Your hip is level with your shoulder.
22:31 And you can see your neck.
22:32 Chin down, eyes front.
22:34 Now, how are you going to know if your body is stable?
22:38 If you could lift one knee, standing in one knee without falling for one minute.
22:43 Make sure that your ankle is level with your knee.
22:46 Your knee is level with your hips.
22:48 And your hips is level with your shoulder.
22:51 And to prepare those muscles for that extensive leg workout, here are some warm-up exercises for you.
22:57 First exercise we want to do is called the backward lunge with a twist.
23:02 So this prepares your hip flexors, your glutes, your hams, and your quadriceps, your lower back as well, and your obliques.
23:09 Another way to warm up is the inverted hamstring.
23:14 So she's warming up the muscles of her hip flexors, her obliques, and her lower back at the same time.
23:20 So this prepares these muscles for running later on.
23:23 And what we call the drop lunge.
23:25 That's the final exercise for warming up for running.
23:29 You do the last three, and you're actually going to be preparing your muscles and avoiding the risk of injury during running.
23:37 And here's a great running tip.
23:39 Be sure to relax both arms for that swift arm swing.
23:43 Chest out and then run.
23:45 Opposite arm swinging.
23:47 Use your other arm to propel you while you're running.
23:50 And that's the proper way to run.
23:52 You'll avoid any injuries and the common mistakes that are associated with beginning a running program.
23:57 And now you're ready to go.
23:59 Running is so convenient because all you really need is a great surface to run on.
24:05 If you love the outdoors, hit the open road.
24:08 As long as you do so in the morning or late afternoon when it's not too hot.
24:13 But if the gym's your thing, hitting the treadmill at your fitness center isn't such a bad idea either.
24:18 Actually, that's what I recommend to beginners.
24:22 Because in the treadmill, they can practice good form in running.
24:26 At the same time, you can use the treadmill anytime.
24:29 At the same time, your trainer or running coach will check your form.
24:34 The good thing also with the treadmill, it has a shock absorber.
24:37 So it's very safe for your knees, ankles, and back.
24:40 For rookie runners, it's recommended to start out running 30 minutes twice a week.
24:44 Gradually increasing your time according to your body's improving endurance.
24:48 You can have a stronger heart, more efficient heart.
24:51 And then that's increased VO2 max.
24:54 It's your oxygen uptake.
24:56 You're efficient at taking in oxygen.
24:58 And then third is actually better, it's for weight management then.
25:02 You can lose a couple pounds.
25:05 Regardless of how long you run, remember to always stay hydrated.
25:08 This keeps you cool and it replenishes all the fluids you lose when you sweat.
25:13 There's really a romance to running because it's all about you and the open road.
25:18 And with our Fitness 101, here's hoping you'll fall in love with it the proper way.
25:23 Bring out your family, your friends, and your family.
25:30 The proper way.
25:31 Bring out your fab side with our foolproof confidence boosters.
25:37 Up next on Fit and Fab.
25:39 Ladies, it's time to unleash your inner goddesses.
25:44 I say it's time to get fab.
25:46 And when you feel totally fabulous on the inside, it always radiates to the outside.
25:50 Project more.
25:52 This week's Fab Guide is all about boosting your confidence in more ways than one.
25:55 [music]
26:02 Insecure? Lack of confidence can stop you from doing what you want and being who you want to be.
26:07 Meet Mary Jane Garcia, a sales agent whose job requires her to interact with people most of the time.
26:15 Once I see myself in the mirror, it's hard to believe that I've really grown.
26:25 Corporate by day, songbird by night. Because what Jane really wants to do is sing.
26:31 [singing]
26:35 I still want to continue singing because that's my first love.
26:40 But one thing really brings her down, her weight.
26:44 You see, Jane is a bit on the big side, which is why she hides under bulky corporate clothes and balks at performing in front of a huge crowd.
26:51 I think you can get more attention from people.
26:55 And at the same time, when they see your looks, and you're not totally sexy,
27:07 they'll see that you're a good-looking woman.
27:15 Like a lot of women out there, Jane goes through a lot of self-imaging because of the way she sees herself physically.
27:22 So we decided to boost her self-confidence, fit and fab style.
27:26 Endorphins give you that natural high after working out,
27:31 so we went to fitness instructor, Jowel Abalde, to show her some great exercises designed to release her endorphins and treat her trouble spots.
27:38 She's overweight now, so we're going to do three programs of workout.
27:44 First, we'll do cardio. Second, weight training. Third, we'll do abs exercises.
27:51 Women really want to have abs.
27:55 First on the fitness agenda? Cardio. And this means hitting the treadmill for 15 minutes to get that heart pumping.
28:02 Yes, keep going. Keep going.
28:05 Jowel also recommended that Jane do some lightweight training to tone and work on her shoulders, chest and legs.
28:14 And to trim the tummy area, Jowel taught Jane a couple of ab exercises.
28:18 And if Jane continues her gym sessions three to four times a week religiously, she's bound to lose her unwanted weight.
28:26 Work it, girl!
28:29 Little by little.
28:33 For Jane's hair and makeup, Symmetria Salon came to the rescue.
28:37 It has too much volume, especially on the shoulders.
28:46 So, I'm going to do a little bit of a push-up.
28:50 I'm going to do a push-up.
28:53 I'm going to do a push-up.
28:57 It has too much volume, especially on the jawline.
29:03 She has a rich copper color of hair that doesn't really suit her complexion.
29:13 So, Mercedela Cruz changed Jane's look by first adding highlights and lowlights that complemented Jane's complexion.
29:22 And gave her a stylish layered cut that totally fit her oval-shaped face.
29:27 If your hair is beautiful, you'll feel confident.
29:39 If your hair is beautiful, you'll feel confident.
29:44 If your hair is beautiful, you'll feel confident.
29:49 If your hair is beautiful, you'll feel confident.
29:52 If your hair is beautiful, you'll feel confident.
29:57 Light makeup fits her everyday office look, according to makeup artist Susan Aquino.
30:02 If it's heavy makeup, the focus is on the bones and the forehead.
30:14 For a more slimming look for her face, Susan contoured Jane's cheekbones and jawline with blush on.
30:21 She always contours her face so that she looks slimmer.
30:26 She doesn't want to look ugly.
30:29 The results?
30:31 Talk about makeover magic!
30:42 To complete Jane's new look, Crossings department store and stylist Sharon C were happy to help out.
30:48 According to Sharon, Jane should pick clothes that suit her apple-shaped body type.
30:52 Since you're top-heavy, you don't want to emphasize too much on the top.
30:58 So, don't cover your chest too much.
31:01 See the fabulous results?
31:10 Like with anything in life, anything new is like being reborn.
31:14 So, having a new wardrobe can give you more confidence or a happier outlook in life.
31:21 And since Jane's confidence was at an all-time high, we decided to throw her a surprise, a karaoke party!
31:35 We would like to call Mary Kate Garcia, Miss Angel's.
31:38 I gained more confidence in myself because of what happened.
31:50 And of course, no matter what you wear, just be what you are.
31:58 Show them that even if I'm chubby, I can still wear what you're wearing.
32:10 Let's take it from Jane, instead of dwelling on your own flaws, launch your best assets.
32:26 Be confident because we are all definitely worth it.
32:29 Great legs are only seven steps away. Find out what they are next on Fit and Fab.
32:38 What's the one part of our body that we always love to show off but probably gets the least TLC?
32:47 Our legs!
32:49 See yourself, you can love them in just five easy ways all in time for the summer.
32:54 Great legs never go out of style.
32:56 And with summer just around the corner and hemlines getting much, much shorter,
33:00 how can we show off a fabulous pair of summer-ready legs?
33:04 Worry no more! Here are five easy ways for you without going to the salon. Here's how.
33:10 First, polish your skin.
33:13 The number one secret to having great legs is to take care of them.
33:18 Here's how. First, polish your skin.
33:23 The number one secret to having smooth and sexy legs that feel like silk is to exfoliate.
33:27 Exfoliation is there so that you can have an even skin tone.
33:30 Because when you tan, especially for the summer, a lot of people are into tanning.
33:34 They want to flaunt their legs so that they can show how sexy their legs are, how shiny, how beautiful.
33:39 And then it's uneven because it's not well exfoliated.
33:43 Choose a body scrub with coarse grains because the skin on your legs is slightly thicker than the rest of your body.
33:48 Use a brisk, circular motion when exfoliating your legs and pay extra attention to the ankle and knees.
33:55 For best results, apply a firming lotion after exfoliation.
34:01 Firming lotions can contain collagen and elastin that help tighten the skin.
34:10 Go for bare? Get a flawless finish.
34:13 Don't risk the safety of your skin by using cheap, single-bladed razors.
34:17 When you shave your legs, invest in a 2-4 blade razor which will remove your leg hair in a single pass.
34:24 And instead of shaving before showering, switch to doing it during the latter part of your bath.
34:29 Shaving at this time is best because your pores are open, thus making it easier to remove hair.
34:36 If you're not a fan of the razor, then try waxing which can be done professionally in the salon or DIY-style in the comfort of your own home.
34:44 There are a variety of at-home waxing kits in the market with easy-to-follow instructions, so go and give them a try.
34:50 Add some color.
34:52 To get that fresh-from-bore glow without exposing yourself to the harmful rays of the sun, invest in a self-tanner spray.
35:04 Self-tanner sprays are easier to apply than most creams and gels because sprays adjust well to your skin.
35:09 Perfect for rookie self-tanners.
35:11 For beginners, because it's very easy for people to end up with the wrong color of self-tanner, you could turn orange or too dark,
35:19 I recommend a clear liquid, but it adjusts to your color.
35:23 It's like one of those spray-tanning things at Belo.
35:26 Instead of spraying on a particular color, you're spraying on a protein that adjusts to your skin.
35:33 And this will give you the most natural color that you have.
35:35 For proper application, apply the product just at the top of your ankles and spread up to your knees.
35:41 Use a mirror to keep the backside in sight to make sure that every spot is covered.
35:46 But if self-tanning isn't your thing, try using some body oil.
35:51 Body oil gives your legs a sexy glow in just seconds.
35:55 Just look at this.
35:57 Prettify your toes.
36:03 To complete your great leg look, don't forget to give your toes extra pampering.
36:07 If you love wearing flip-flops and sandals, a pedicure is definitely a must.
36:12 If you want to save money by avoiding expensive nail salons, buy a nail kit and give yourself an at-home pedicure.
36:19 Whenever you cut your own toenails or fingernails, you should always trim it straight across.
36:23 Some people shape their toenails in a curved line, right?
36:28 You're not supposed to do that because it will only cause ingrowns.
36:30 And you shouldn't be picking at the cuticles because it only has them pushed back.
36:35 Because otherwise, it's going to harm your nail bed.
36:38 And when it comes to nail polish, apply a base color first before putting on the second layer.
36:43 And choose a color that will complement your skin tone.
36:46 Seven steps to get a fabulous pair of legs.
36:49 Now your legs are really ready for the spotlight.
36:56 You know, Tere, how we always talk that summer is here.
36:58 Now as much as I love summer, like hitting the beach and being under the sun,
37:01 what I hate the most are the sunspots that I get from too much sun exposure.
37:05 You know what, Maggie? I totally agree with you.
37:07 Sunspots are a problem not just for you, not just for me, but for every single woman out there.
37:11 It's a good thing we have a Fit and Fab Q&A to answer all of our beauty and body concerns.
37:22 Sunspots are usually brown sun-induced small circles that you can find on the face and sometimes on the upper arms.
37:27 Common term, I guess, would be freckles, which would be the smaller brown spots.
37:31 And then for the older people, you would see them manifesting with the bigger brown circles on their face.
37:38 Then those are also what we call solar lentigines or sunspots.
37:43 How do you treat them, Doc?
37:45 Once the sunspots are there, you can't actually do much about it.
37:51 You can do prevention just so that you don't add on to it.
37:54 And for those that are there, we have some bleaching agents,
37:59 but not everything will be gone by the use of bleaching agents.
38:03 You actually need something more aggressive like the lasers.
38:07 We have pigment lasers like the Q-Switch Tendiag laser, which is very, very effective for the treatment of this.
38:14 And normally, you may just need one session, at the most two, to remove them.
38:20 Ah, ganun pala yun? Now I know better. Thanks, Doc!
38:23 We at Fit and Fab would really like to hear from you, so please do write to us at fitandfab@gmailnetwork.com.
38:29 We promise to answer all of your burning questions about beauty, body health, and fitness. So please do write to us.

38:40 Once again, I'm Maggie Wolfe. And I'm Tereli Carros.
38:42 And we'll see you all next week, only here on Fit and Fab.
