00:00 Hello there, welcome to your Thursday morning forecast. Warnings for rain have been issued
00:05 throughout Thursday and we'll see some high rainfall totals. However, through this morning
00:09 also an ice warning extends from the Northern Isles all the way down, particularly over
00:13 the higher ground towards border regions, North East England inland. Elsewhere, rain
00:17 warnings will mean we could see some high rainfall totals. The risk of flooding as well,
00:23 especially vulnerable places such as the Brecon Beacons where we could see up to 80mm over
00:27 the next 12 hours or so and also Aberdeenshire seeing up to 110mm of rain. So it is a wet
00:33 and windy start to the day, still some snow over the highest ground, the air remains cold.
00:39 Showery bursts also for Northern Ireland, Northern England, the Midlands, Wales, Central
00:43 Southern England as well as the West Country. Further east though, a chilly morning and
00:47 a mostly cloudy one. Drier skies here though. Wherever you are, the winds will be fairly
00:52 strong and they'll pick up to gale force along the coast through the day across more
00:57 western areas as the rain intensifies through the morning across Northern Ireland, pushing
01:02 in across West Wales, the Isle of Man as well as western parts of Scotland and the West
01:06 Country. That rain extends towards Northern England and much of Scotland through the afternoon
01:10 and some patchy rain also for the eastern strip of England. But further east down towards
01:15 East Anglia and the South East, you'll see some dry weather until much later on in the
01:18 day. By lunchtime, a rain warning also for the Midlands where we could see some high
01:22 rainfall totals, the risk of some surface water issues here as Northern Ireland becomes
01:27 drier through the afternoon. Temperatures here, 11 degrees Celsius, so a milder end
01:32 to the day. But a wet evening to come across much of Scotland, Northern England, the Midlands,
01:36 eastern counties, further spells of heavy rain. And then some clearer skies for a time
01:41 through the early hours of Friday morning as rain becomes confined to the Northern Isles.
01:46 But waiting in the wings, another area of low pressure, strong winds and showery bursts
01:49 of rain. So as we head through Friday morning, not as cold as it has been, even so it's another
01:55 windy day, especially towards the west. Brighter skies will emerge across the Midlands, south
02:00 eastwards, so you should see some drier weather through the morning. But these showers towards
02:04 the west will merge to form longer spells of rain, especially across Wales, North West
02:08 England, Northern Ireland, western parts of Scotland, yet again down towards the West
02:11 Country. And watch out for some high waves associated with those strong winds. The showers
02:16 then arrive across Scotland through the afternoon, extend towards the Midlands, eastern counties
02:21 and then eventually we'll see some showery bursts just move in across the south east.
02:25 So a showery day on Friday, leading into an unsettled weekend with rain or showers. I'll
02:29 see you later.
