A woman has been stabbed in Aberfan, forcing local schools into lockdown as police searched for a suspect. Witnesses to the incident say the victim was a 29 year old pregnant woman, whose injuries are not believed to be life threatening, according to the Welsh Ambulance service.

Mark Drakeford refused to back up a statement from Labour’s UK leader Kier Starmer praising former prime minster Margret Thatcher. Starmer wrote in a newspaper article saying Thatcher I inacted real change for Britain, with many people online saying the comments were out of touch with people in Wales.

Wales has slumped to its lowest Pisa test scores ever, with the gap between here and the rest of the UK widening since the pandemic. The test in an international indicator for education levels around the world, with Wales ranking inbetween Slovenia and the Netherlands on maths, reading and science.
