00:00 Hi everybody, I never ever ever ever pay full price for a train journey and I thought that
00:07 with the prices going up I would share my tips with you.
00:10 Step number one is always make sure you start with a clean toilet in case you need to hide
00:15 from a ticket inspector.
00:17 Step number two is never buy the ticket for the destination that you're going to.
00:22 Always buy it for the next stop or just the cheapest stop.
00:25 So for example, if you get on a Derby just buy one for Burton on Trent to get you through
00:29 the day.
00:30 Once you are on the train, if you know there's a ticket inspector who's going to come, see
00:34 how long you can last until he's going to give you a change.
00:38 So, for example, I've got an October but I know the ticket inspector is probably going
00:45 to be here in ten minutes.
00:46 That's cool, ten minutes we can get a different stop and that's going to save you a hundred
00:50 quid.
00:51 So another thing that you can do, buy you some time if the ticket guy comes, is to have
00:56 him at your phone's dive.
00:59 So don't be on it too much in case they catch you on it.
01:00 Don't worry if they catch you on it, just so you know what some technical difficulty
01:03 it is.
01:04 That will buy you another ten minutes.
01:06 I've even had situations where they've just totally forgotten about me and they never even
01:10 come back.
01:11 So you can also go and hide in the toilet.
01:13 It's annoying but I'd rather save the money.
01:16 Another great tip is to buy it, buy your ticket for like the next stop and then if anybody
01:24 asks you, just say that you missed your stop, say "I'm sorry, I've missed my stop, I don't
01:28 have any more money, just missing out on you".
01:30 This works really well when you're not travelling to London.
01:33 They do get on it if you go to London, so beware if you're travelling to London.
01:37 But for example, today I'm going to Crewe and if anyone asks me, I mean I've not got
01:44 a ticket for the stop, but one thing I might consider doing during this journey if I see
01:49 a ticket inspector is buying a ticket to Stafford and then Crewe's the next stop, so I'll just
01:54 say "Oh, would you look at that, I've missed my stop".
01:56 Overall, if you get smart with it, there are a couple of ways you can beat the chain company
02:00 and I would highly advise anybody not to pay.
