00:00 Two law enforcement officers have presented a death penalty to the country,

00:04 including those who should be released and those who are not subject to the drug-related cases.

00:14 China arrested the two Filipinos convicted of drug trafficking on November 24.

00:23 In 2013, the two were arrested after being caught in a drug-related case in Guangdong and sentenced in 2016.

00:32 The DFA said that they tried to appeal the sentence of the Chinese government several times, but it was not approved.

00:39 Following the release, the Chinese were also released, as the representative of Rufus Rodriguez said,

00:46 because of the illegal drug trade.

00:50 Rodriguez asked the Congress to pass House Bill 2459, which would remove the most severe punishment,

00:58 including the death of those who are proven to be involved in drug trafficking.

01:04 According to the Bureau of Corrections, of the 369 Chinese who were in the country,

01:10 205 or more than half were Chinese.

01:13 But the death penalty was abolished in the country in 2006, so the law still needs to be passed to bring it back.

01:21 That's why Surigao Del Norte, representative of Ace Barbers, the chairman of the House Committee on Dangerous Drugs,

01:28 said that House Bill 1543 should be passed, which would bring back the death penalty for those who are involved in crime.
