00:00 This week, the resolution is expected to be released on the many cases filed against Police Lieutenant Colonel Mark Julio Abong,
00:08 the police who fired a gun and injured an employee in a bar in Quezon City.
00:13 The Quezon City Police District or QCPD filed criminal cases for illegal discharge of firearm,
00:20 violation of omnibus election code, physical injury, slander by deed, and disobedience upon an agent of person in authority.
00:27 QCPD Director Police Brigadier General Rodrigo Maranan said that the cases filed against Abong are available.
00:34 The mother unit of Abong said that he will serve his term if he is still able to serve his term.
00:40 He is currently assigned to the legal service of Philippine National Police or PNP.
00:45 That depends upon the order of his mother unit.
00:49 If he is still in his mother unit, his assignment while the case is being heard, he will still report there.
00:58 His status is out on bail.
01:00 Interior Secretary Benher Abalos ordered the PNP to confiscate the three guns of Abong
01:06 because he did not want anyone who is not responsible to use the guns.
01:12 Maranan said that the license of the gun that Abong fired in the bar has expired.
01:17 Maranan reminded Mayor Joy Belmonte of the importance of the police's duty to always listen to the public and not to cover up their mistakes.
01:26 As police, you are more than expected to listen to the public and to those who are being harmed
01:34 while you are protecting the peace and order of our people.
01:39 I want to remind you that you are not protectors of those who have power but are allies of those who are being harmed.
01:48 What we are looking at here is whether or not you have violated a law.
01:53 When you violated a law, even if you are a baruka or a police officer, we will arrest you, we will file a case against you and we will detain you.
02:02 Abong was also involved in a hit and run in 2022 where the victim, a tricycle driver, died.
02:09 He was then dismissed from the service of the Quezon City People's Law Enforcement Board.
02:14 Deniza Fernandez, CNN Philippines.
