00:00 We're here at the town hall. We have got...
00:02 We only started the petition since last week
00:05 and we've got 1,805 so far signatures
00:09 and I've been standing outside Devonshire Square toilet
00:13 and the majority of people have
00:16 basically are disgusted with rubber.
00:19 They think it's very short-sighted.
00:21 I've had a lady come up to me from 1066
00:25 to say that they're sitting there having a cup of tea and a cake
00:27 and they watched a gentleman yesterday urinate against the wall
00:30 because he couldn't... he was busting to go.
00:33 I've heard other stories that people are defecating
00:36 by the toilets because they've got there to find they're locked.
00:40 This is a health and safety nightmare and a health scare.
00:43 People are... and the rubber are just turning a blind eye.
00:48 I've had one councillor turn around and say to me,
00:49 "That's your problem, not ours."
00:52 The leader of the council have turned around and said,
00:54 "They want to behave like animals, let them be like animals."
00:57 And I even asked Lorna Forward, the chief executive,
01:00 if she'd like to be here to set this
01:02 and she pleasantly declined.
01:04 This is stupid.
01:06 This is Christmas time of year
01:09 where people should be open to the council
01:12 to let them use the toilets.
01:14 They're still paying the maintenance until next March
01:17 and I just can't believe how short-sighted they are
01:21 and also the town is...
01:22 And people are saying it's kidding off the town
01:24 because people won't come here.
01:26 And I think it's disgrace, absolute disgrace.
