00:00 So my name is Karen Ford and I've been with Praxis from 2009. This service which is called
00:09 St Paul's Court is for people with the onset of dementia and for people who are undergoing
00:18 testing for mild cognitive impairment. So if their doctor or a consultant has a strong
00:25 reasonable belief that there is mild cognitive impairment or dementia and they're undergoing
00:31 diagnostic testing and being referred to their memory team, those are people then that we
00:36 can accept referrals to to this service. So welcome to St Paul's Court. I'm going to bring
00:42 you and I'm going to let you see one type of our accommodation. So come this way. This
00:48 is an apartment and we have eight apartments in St Paul's Court, very similar to this one.
00:55 So we're now inside the apartment. Here you have your kitchen which you can then bring
01:01 your own white goods with you depending on what you want to use. So you've got your washing
01:06 machine. Some people do come with a cooker, some people don't. Some people just prefer
01:10 the microwave. Fridge, freezer and you've got plenty of cupboard spaces for all your
01:17 bits and pieces. It's open plan so again you can put your own stamp on it and bring your
01:23 own furniture and make it as personal to you. This is a bedroom that you can set up yourself
01:28 whether you want a double bed, single bed, there's plenty of room. So from the bedroom
01:34 then you have a door that takes you into your en suite. There's many features then and these
01:40 can all be adopted for your needs. So in all the homes you do have your pull cords and
01:47 you do have your buzzer to get staff because staff are on site 24/7. So if there is any
01:54 adaptations that's required, again those can all be organised through the OT and these
02:01 things can be organised before you move in as well. This is a tunstall system so this
02:06 tells us if you're in or out and also it's a speech module so no matter if you have your
02:13 buzzer and you press your buzzer no matter where you are in your apartment, this picks
02:16 up your voice and we can speak to you two way and then we can come and be on site within
02:23 seconds. My wife and I came here because of her condition and unfortunately she was on
02:32 a slippery slope when she was only here a few months when she died and they kindly let
02:39 me stay on. I have my own medical problems so that was why I was allowed to stay. As
02:48 you can see this is the living room. Good living room. And these are... This is my furniture.
02:57 Yep, from where you lived previously. Yeah. Double bed with an en suite with a shower.
03:09 And you've got built in wardrobes. A built in wardrobe there and the furniture's mine.
03:14 You do your washing and then we can hang your washing out on the washing line and your brother
03:20 comes and visits you once a week, your friend comes and visits you once a week. Oh I get
03:26 visitors on a regular basis. Brian, would you recommend people to come to live in St
03:32 Paul's Court? I certainly would. In the circumstances, unfortunately my wife went down the hill quite
03:39 quickly when we came here and so I really only got a few months of joint life but it's
03:46 a great place to be for a couple of good and the support I get from the staff here is amazing.
03:54 Tell us this here Brian, what do you like to do in the summer months in that back garden
03:58 of yours? Oh, shun me!
