00:00 Frank Reich was told this morning that he would no longer be the head coach of the Panthers.
00:08 Mike, I can tell you the talk around the league was this, that he was not going to make it to year two.
00:12 The offense has been abysmal. They have not developed Bryce Young to the point where they feel comfortable going with Frank Reich.
00:20 And Frank Reich was brought in to develop the quarterback, so they removed him.
00:23 And they're going to shuffle around the coaching staff. Thomas Brown, who's their offense coordinator, will take over as the play caller.
00:30 Chris Tabor, who's their special teams coach, will be the interim head coach.
00:33 But it was not working, and they had higher expectations.
00:37 In fact, I can tell you from being around the Panthers in training camp and talking to them at the start of the season,
00:42 they felt the roster was better than last year.
00:45 Now, we could argue and debate whether it is or not, but they've underachieved.
00:49 They should be much better than they are, and they have the NFL's worst record.
00:53 They only have one win. I mean, nobody saw this coming, that they'd be this bad.
00:56 Yes, Bryce Young has not developed quite as quickly as CJ Stroud, a guy who was taken after he was.
01:03 But look, the way I understand it is they're most likely going to look for an offensive head coach.
01:08 They won't rule out a defensive guy, but for a defensive guy to come in there, he's got to have a great offensive coordinator.
01:14 Our guys develop quarterbacks. One name to watch is Ben Johnson, I'm told, the offensive coordinator for the Lions.
01:20 He was a guy that was high on their list. Johnson took his name out of the running last year.
01:24 He decided to stay with his family and stay with the Lions, and the Lions are pretty happy about that.
01:29 But expect him to be one of the names that you're hearing in January.
