00:00 Welcome to the WrestleTalk News, I'm Pete Quinnell.
00:09 On Fridays, we wear pink again.
00:11 Don't worry, Laurie will be back soon, he's just a very busy boy, and he keeps leaving
00:16 his jacket unattended.
00:18 Even with Survivor Series tomorrow, the fallout from AEW's Full Gear is still fresh in people's
00:23 minds, with fans divided on both Swerve vs Hangman and if it was excellent or not, it
00:27 was, and the MJF vs Jey White main event and if it was overbooked or not, it also was.
00:33 But while some fans were dissatisfied with the main event of the PPV, it appears Jey
00:36 White himself may also have not been the biggest fan of how things played out.
00:40 This comes from Wade Keller of PWTorch, who noted that from what he'd heard, White wasn't
00:45 thrilled with how things went with the build and the match against MJF.
00:49 Fans had complained with the conclusion of Full Gear that the sequence of events made
00:52 Jey White look a little on the weaker side of things, not being able to beat MJF after
00:57 he only had one working leg, with the guns on the outside, multiple distractions and
01:01 illegal weaponry.
01:02 Not to say that he can't recover from that, because of course he can, he's Jey White,
01:06 and a great showing in the Continental Classic should put him back on track, but I think
01:09 it's interesting that the overbooking fans have been critical of hasn't also been received
01:13 well from those involved in the angle.
01:15 And that's only considering Full Gear itself, with White also reportedly being upset with
01:19 the build for the match as well, featuring White stealing the world title, the scrapped
01:23 anti-Semitism anger with Juice Robinson, and a lot of acclaimed and Samoa Joe related shenanigans.
01:29 But in more positive news, we could be seeing some injured AEW stars returning soon.
01:34 Fightful Select is reporting that both Dante Martin of Top Flight and Mark Quinn of Private
01:38 Party are potentially returning soon, with both being backstage at AEW shows recently.
01:44 Martin has been out since March, and in July was said to be ahead of schedule for his return.
01:48 Meanwhile Mark Quinn has been out for nearly a full year, not wrestling since last November.
01:53 He sustained a shoulder injury but has also been backstage lately, so could be ready to
01:57 return soon, which AEW reportedly want sooner rather than later.
02:02 It's also worth noting of course, as Fightful Select mentioned in their report, that just
02:06 because they may be cleared to wrestle doesn't mean they'll be back on our screens immediately.
02:10 There's been situations like a Thunder Rosa for example, where somebody has been ready
02:14 to return but were awaiting creative.
02:17 So fingers crossed AEW can find a use for Quinn and Martin, and we'll see them wrestling
02:21 again soon.
02:22 And unfortunately there's also a negative injury update, as according to PWInsider,
02:27 Cole Carter suffered a concussion at the Ring of Honor tapings after Dynamite this week.
02:32 During a tag match against Christopher Daniels and Matt Sidell, Sidell hit a twisting splash
02:36 onto Carter, but reportedly landed on his face, forcing his head back into the mat.
02:41 The match was called off, and Carter was able to walk to the back, but it took him a long
02:45 time to do so.
02:47 There is no official diagnosis yet, but PWInsider report that he apparently suffered a concussion.
02:52 We at WrestleTalk would like to wish Cole Carter a speedy recovery.
02:55 And now a word from this video's sponsor.
03:00 Pete.
03:03 Pete.
03:06 Pete.
03:09 Pete.
03:12 Pete.
03:15 Pete.
03:16 Yes what is it, Oli?
03:17 I think I've done it.
03:18 I think I've done it.
03:19 You didn't believe in me, Pete.
03:20 But I've done it.
03:21 I've done it.
03:22 Done what, Oli?
03:23 I've come up with a three letter name that can be horribly forced into a three letter
03:26 initialisation that I'm going to name the company after.
03:29 Just because I can.
03:30 And I think it's neat.
03:31 Please don't do this, Oli.
03:33 Here's my first one.
03:34 British Men.
03:36 WrestleTalk.
03:37 That's BMW and a redundant name because it's pretty clear that we're mostly British Men.
03:42 How about Naughty Actor Sullivan's Association?
03:45 NASA?
03:46 And wouldn't that mean it's Sullivan's company now?
03:48 Is that how companies work?
03:49 No, that's not how companies work, Oli.
03:51 Ok, ok.
03:52 How about Every Single Pile Driver Nailed.
03:55 ESPN, you have to know what you're doing here.
03:58 Wait, I've got it.
04:00 Velvet Prince's Mapping.
04:02 I'm so tired, Oli.
04:05 I'm so tired.

05:08 Meanwhile, over in the land of WWE as previously mentioned, it's Survivor Series tomorrow
05:13 and we'll be watching the show at our live watch party at the Long Arm Pub & Brewery
05:17 in Shoreditch - get your tickets now - which will be live-streamed right here on the WrestleTalk
05:21 channel, so stay tuned for that.
05:23 And on that note, tomorrow's episode of the WrestleTalk News will be one of our new
05:27 deep dive videos which you guys seem to be enjoying.
05:29 This does mean there will be no Smackdown review and no Smackdown podcast, as it will
05:33 be pre-recorded in order to free up some people for our live show that night, so I hope you'll
05:38 all enjoy that tomorrow.
05:39 But Survivor Series will be seeing the return of Randy Orton to our screens, and definitely
05:44 100% CM Punk as well CM Punk return confirmed.
05:47 But those might not be the only returns happening soon in WWE, as WrestleVotes is reporting
05:52 that on the official program for Survivor Series featured are two notable tag teams,
05:57 AOP and Gallus.
05:59 No other NXT talent are noted either, which seems to indicate that Gallus could be getting
06:04 called up soon, and as for AOP, Sean Ross Sapp on Twitter mentioned that they've been
06:07 re-signed for a long time now, they've just been waiting for the right time to bring them
06:11 back and perhaps that time is drawing near.
06:14 Meanwhile there could be yet another return happening soon too, as WWE have released new
06:19 Trish Stratus merch on their store.
06:21 While this isn't necessarily an indication of their intention, Trish hasn't been seen
06:25 for a few months now on WWE TV, and we're getting even closer to Royal Rumble season
06:30 where she's sure to show up again, right?
06:32 So perhaps she could return before then to insert herself into the picture before the
06:35 show.
06:36 And now for some mysteries heading into tomorrow's Survivor Series in regards to Shinsuke Nakamura.
06:42 While not booked on the card as of yet, some have speculated that we could finally find
06:46 out just who the heck the Japanese star has been talking about in his cryptic promos over
06:51 the past few weeks.
06:53 Given the fact that Nakamura has been perhaps the biggest perpetrator for adding fuel to
06:56 the CM Punk fire lately, specifically by curiously deciding to start using the GTS, many have
07:01 high hopes for Punk to be the mystery man.
07:04 But could it be someone way, way more unexpected?
07:08 Someone not even contracted to WWE?
07:10 Well on Sean Ross Sapp's Thanksgiving Fightful Select Q&A, he was posed the question of whether
07:14 Kazuchika Okada could be the target for Nakamura, with a fan referencing a potential situation
07:20 similar to when New Japan contracted Jushin Thunder Liger when he came over for a one-off
07:24 appearance at NXT TakeOver Brooklyn in 2016.
07:27 To which SRS replied, "Nobody in New Japan believes that, but I can tell you there is
07:32 a wrestler in WWE high up that believes Nakamura is calling out another Japanese wrestler."
07:39 That's their hunch though.
07:40 When it comes to male Japanese wrestlers currently contracted to WWE, you have Akira Tozawa and...well
07:46 Akira Tozawa.
07:47 And something tells me that Nakamura hasn't been seeking him out this entire time when
07:50 he just squashed him a few weeks back on Raw.
07:52 So that would in theory leave either a new signing or a lonee from another company.
07:56 WWE have got a pretty established interest in Okada and he's close friends with Nakamura,
08:01 so hey, you never know, this is the Triple H regime after all.
08:05 Who do you think the mystery man is?
08:07 Let us know in the comments below.
08:09 Speaking of Survivor Series, one of the just five bouts on offer at the PLE is Gunther
08:13 defending his Intercontinental title against The Miz, or as Gunther intimately refers to
08:18 him, Mike.
08:20 While the result on paper feels like the most foregone conclusion of all foregone conclusions,
08:25 there is one important aspect of it that may plant a seed of doubt.
08:29 That being if Miz wins, he will tie Chris Jericho's record of 9 Intercontinental title
08:34 wins.
08:35 Now we all know there's two things WWE loves more than anything in this world, breaking
08:38 records and sticking it to AEW.
08:41 And with a Miz win, they can do both in one fell swoop.
08:44 But will they in fact even acknowledge the fact that Jericho has the record, or even
08:48 Jericho's existence whatsoever?
08:50 Well what do you think?
08:53 Of course not.
08:54 While they do give a mention to Miz being an 8-time IC title holder and being one win
08:58 away from tying the record, they do not mention Jericho's name.
09:01 But when discussing the record of cumulative time spent as Intercontinental Champion, they
09:06 have no issue naming names, mentioning The Miz is only 19 days away from breaking Pedro
09:10 Morales' record as the most time as IC champ of 617 days.
09:15 Speaking of which, Gunther's 532 days as champ also puts him within touching distance
09:20 of that same record.
09:22 So perhaps me thinking Miz actually has a shot is all just in my head because he doesn't,
09:26 right?
09:27 He's not going to win.
09:29 Can't win.
09:30 Can he?
09:31 Can he?
09:32 In what is not a Force segway whatsoever, fun fact about Gunther, he was drafted to
09:35 Raw in this year's WWE Draft.
09:37 Do you know who else was?
09:39 Odyssey Jones.
09:40 You don't know who Odyssey Jones is?
09:42 I don't blame you, as since being called up from NXT to Raw, he's been seen a total
09:46 of...
09:47 Zero times.
09:49 Jones' main roster future has been shrouded in mystery, with the Big Man working nothing
09:54 but live events and the Superstar Spectacle in India weirdly enough since his move to
09:58 the red brand.
09:59 As of right now, he is still listed as a Raw star on WWE.com, however last month there
10:03 was report of Jones being considered to join up with Bobby Lashley's Hurt Business 2.0
10:08 faction on Smackdown, and considering that Jones has been working the blue brand's
10:12 dark matches, it made this seem possible.
10:14 But once again, a month later, there's been no sighting of Mr. Jones.
10:18 According to SRS on his Fightful Select Q&A, Jones was pitched to join Lashley's stable,
10:22 however now it doesn't look like it's going to happen.
10:25 Which means the myth lives on.
10:27 Is Odyssey Jones real?
10:29 While Jones continues to be off our screens, so too has the Celtic Warrior Sheamus, who
10:33 was last seen on TV on the August 18th Smackdown, where he took part in Edge or Adam Copeland's
10:38 final WWE match, which honestly feels like a lifetime ago now.
10:42 The reason reportedly being that the Irishman has been suffering with a really bad shoulder
10:46 injury according to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio.
10:49 While there has been no confirmation on when we can expect to see Sheamo back, he was recently
10:53 listed to appear at the November 24th, December 8th and 15th episodes of Smackdown, however
10:58 as of checking now, he no longer is.
11:01 So with Sheamus' return date unclear, what does that mean for the former WWE Champion's
11:05 soon-to-be expiring contract?
11:07 Sheamus, like many, many others, has a deal that is set to come up in 2024, and speaking
11:13 on the previously mentioned Fightful Select Q&A, SRS said that it was "very, very likely"
11:17 that his contract will be extended due to this injury.
11:21 This has been known to be commonplace for WWE, with Sheamus' good pal Drew McIntyre
11:24 also reportedly seeing time added to his own soon-to-be expiring contract through the rest
11:29 of Spring.
11:30 Now a reminder that tomorrow's episode will be one of our new deep dive videos, and if
11:34 you like those, then why not check out Wednesday's edition where Luke breaks down the question,
11:38 "Does AEW actually make money?"
