00:00 G'day, I'm Paul.
00:00 Welcome to a dreary and freezing day in Melbourne.
00:05 But we're here with the new Mahindra XUV700.
00:10 This is a step up from the 500
00:12 that we had on sale in Australia up until recently.
00:15 It's kind of like the Scorpio we reviewed not that long ago,
00:18 except this one is seven seats,
00:20 slightly longer, but narrower.
00:21 And this doesn't have that off-road focus,
00:24 being front-wheel drive only.
00:25 This competes with things like the Mazda CX-8,
00:28 the Mitsubishi Outlander, Nissan X-Trail.
00:31 It's those vehicles that have that seven seat capability,
00:34 but not really seven seats for adults.
00:36 This is the top spec, it's called the AX7L.
00:39 There is a base model called the AX7.
00:41 The AX7L is priced from just under 40 grand,
00:44 but the entry level kicks off at just under 37,000.
00:47 So we're gonna do a detailed review of this car.
00:49 So if you do wanna skip ahead to other parts of this review,
00:52 you can use the time codes on the screen,
00:54 or if you are on YouTube,
00:54 you can scroll down and use the chapters below.
00:56 And if you haven't done so already,
00:57 please subscribe to our channel and press the bell icon
01:00 so I can stay nice and warm.
01:02 Now, let's talk exterior design.
01:04 You got five colors to pick from.
01:06 They are all free of charge, which is great news.
01:08 Just in terms of the design, it actually looks really nice.
01:10 I didn't actually think the last generation
01:12 of this looked all that bad.
01:13 This is just a smart looking vehicle,
01:15 and yeah, you kinda have to just know
01:17 what the Mahindra badge is to get a better understanding
01:19 of exactly what this is.
01:21 So you've got this grill down the bottom here
01:22 that climbs up and tapers off at the top there.
01:25 Then you have piano black sections
01:27 around the bottom half of that as well.
01:28 Little camera down there for the 360 camera
01:31 and a radar down the bottom too.
01:33 You have a set of full LED headlights
01:35 along with LED daytime running lights.
01:37 They look very similar to the Renault Colios,
01:39 that sort of wrap around design there.
01:42 Whip around to the side here.
01:43 This is where you're gonna find your 18 inch alloy wheels.
01:47 The whole XUV700 range is front wheel drive
01:50 only for Australia.
01:51 The design's pretty straightforward,
01:53 machined finish on the outside
01:54 and then graphite on the inside there.
01:56 Big chubby tires too, 60 profile.
01:58 So this should ride pretty nicely out on the road.
02:01 Wheel arch protectors just there.
02:04 Up the top here, you've got body colour on the wing mirror,
02:06 piano black down the bottom,
02:07 and then a camera built into there
02:09 along with an indicator as well.
02:11 Yeah, have a look at these door handles.
02:12 So it's kinda like a Tesla,
02:14 they sort of stick out and then give that a push.
02:17 It locks it and then to unlock them,
02:19 give that a push as well,
02:20 and then you pull the door handle.
02:22 So really interesting setup for this segment.
02:25 Outside of that, the rest is pretty straightforward.
02:26 You have roof rails up the top there
02:28 along with a panoramic glass roof.
02:30 Come along to the back with me.
02:31 Right here, you're gonna find partial LED tail lights.
02:34 So that section there is LED,
02:36 then all of that is incandescent inside.
02:38 Which is a little bit disappointing,
02:39 I would have thought that should all be LED.
02:41 XUV700 badge there, and then AX7L for that designation.
02:46 Mahindra logo just here with the camera offset to the side.
02:50 Brake light up the top there,
02:51 and a shark fin aerial as well.
02:54 Let me know what you reckon about the design.
02:56 Do you think this looks good?
02:57 Do you think they've knocked it out of the park
02:58 with this latest update?
02:59 Let me know in the comment section below.
03:01 So we are inside the XUV700.
03:04 We'll start off with the key.
03:06 So you've got lock, boot, unlock, it flips out as well.
03:11 But it is a proximity sensing key.
03:13 So you can leave that in your pocket
03:15 and then you have a push button start over here.
03:18 So in terms of the presentation of the interior,
03:21 yeah, look, I think they've gone sort of big screens
03:23 over here to make it all look impressive,
03:25 but there is a lot of piano black around here.
03:27 But yeah, look, it's okay.
03:28 I think it's nice, but not amazing.
03:30 If you have a look at stuff like the new Outlander,
03:32 I think that really takes it to another level
03:34 in terms of presentation.
03:35 And I think this is nice.
03:37 And hopefully they have some plans
03:39 to de-piano black some of this stuff.
03:42 Outside of that, the materials they use
03:45 is sort of hard wearing up the top there
03:46 down the sides here as well.
03:48 You will notice while you're driving
03:49 that if your knee leans on this door handle,
03:51 which it was for me on the way here today,
03:54 it's not very soft.
03:55 So it kind of isn't very comfortable,
03:56 but outside of that, your touch points are okay.
03:59 So that is a firmish over there
04:01 and then firmish on the door.
04:02 How firm are they?
04:03 We've got our durometer.
04:05 We've tested the main services in this cabin.
04:07 If you want to see how this car compares to others
04:09 that we've tested before,
04:10 have a look at the link in the description below.
04:12 Yeah, build quality.
04:13 What's it like?
04:15 It's a little wonky there in the center.
04:18 Aside from that, it actually all feels okay.
04:20 This button is a bit loose up the top here,
04:22 but aside from that, it's fine.
04:24 This is what the door sounds like.
04:26 (door thuds)
04:28 Okay, let's talk infotainment.
04:31 So you have two displays, one here and one here.
04:33 Both are 10.25 inches,
04:35 despite how big the actual cluster is.
04:37 They're actually quite small inside that cluster.
04:40 You can control it either as a touchscreen
04:42 or using this iDrive-esque controller.
04:45 So this center button here can actually be used
04:48 as a volume knob or to browse,
04:49 and then it can also be used to move between menus
04:53 and also select things
04:54 with shortcut buttons around it as well.
04:57 So you have these menus here.
04:58 So you have Fun in XUV700 and Fun with XUV700.
05:03 So when you're driving, you click on that
05:05 and it shows your power and torque while you're driving.
05:07 And then what you can do is Fun in XUV brings up
05:11 the actual standard menu that you see here
05:13 and allows you to flick between
05:15 all of these different things.
05:16 It is interesting though,
05:17 some of these applications don't actually do anything.
05:19 So if you click on horoscope,
05:21 it just loads a screen there that just stays there
05:24 and doesn't actually do anything.
05:25 And likewise, some of this news,
05:27 like India today, doesn't do anything.
05:29 So I think these are carryover things
05:30 they forgot to delete from the car.
05:32 So a little bit annoying,
05:33 'cause that'd be kind of fun to have that stuff,
05:35 but it doesn't actually function here in Australia.
05:37 In terms of smartphone mirroring,
05:39 you have both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
05:41 Both are wired,
05:42 and this is where you'll also find your satellite navigation
05:45 because they don't actually have
05:46 inbuilt satellite navigation.
05:48 Seems to work well, no real sort of dramas there.
05:50 And this is what Android Auto looks like.
05:53 So yeah, same story again, full screen integration.
05:58 Not too bad, tiny bit laggy there, but it's fine.
06:00 Oop, just kind of died a little bit there.
06:03 Yeah, so full screen integration and slightly laggy.
06:07 In addition to that,
06:08 you have a 12 speaker Sony branded sound system.
06:11 The sound system's not too bad,
06:12 but it only has AM and FM radio.
06:14 There is no digital radio, unfortunately.
06:16 Screen ahead of the driver here,
06:17 you can configure that display to change.
06:20 So that's the standard layout.
06:22 And then what you can do is switch
06:23 between different layouts as well,
06:25 and then also change the information
06:27 that you see in the center of the screen.
06:29 All works really well.
06:29 The only point of frustration is when you are trying
06:32 to enable or disable the lane departure warning
06:34 and assist, and you've got to go through a thousand menus
06:36 to actually get there.
06:37 Just wish there was a button
06:38 that allowed you to do that instead.
06:39 Let's talk safety tech.
06:40 So you have autonomous emergency braking.
06:44 You have just a standard rear vision mirror.
06:46 There's no auto dimming in that.
06:47 You do have blind spot monitoring as well,
06:49 but it's only through this center screen,
06:51 and it's only activated when you put the indicator on.
06:54 And you'll notice there when you do put it on,
06:56 it only briefly stays on.
06:57 You really have to keep the indicator running
06:59 to have that camera operating.
07:01 There is no blind spot monitor built into the wing mirror.
07:04 You have radar cruise control with a pilot assist feature,
07:07 which we'll test later on.
07:08 You have rear parking sensors only in a 360 camera.
07:11 I'll show you what that looks like.
07:13 Yeah, the quality's okay, but not amazing.
07:15 You can see there, that's the top down view.
07:17 That's your rear view.
07:18 You can also then zoom into these different views as well,
07:21 depending on what you want to do,
07:24 which I think is not too bad.
07:26 Yeah, look, it's not a terrible camera.
07:27 It's just, yeah,
07:28 the quality could be just slightly better than it is.
07:31 You can also save your photos too.
07:32 So you press that,
07:33 and then it actually saves the photo
07:35 into an image gallery as well.
07:37 This is what the horn sounds like.
07:38 (horn honking)
07:41 So shifting our focus to practicality,
07:43 and we'll start off with connectivity.
07:45 So down here, you've got two USB-A ports.
07:48 You have a wireless phone charger down there as well.
07:52 Can store your phone in the cup holders as well,
07:54 if you want to.
07:55 Coffee cup, let's see how that goes.
07:57 It just fits in there without any issues of de-lidding.
08:01 You also have little grips on the side there as well.
08:03 So when you go pop a water bottle in,
08:05 there you go, actually holds it in really nicely.
08:08 And then bottle storage inside the door for the small one.
08:10 Try our big water bottle as well.
08:14 Yes, perfect, fits in there too.
08:16 In terms of other storage,
08:17 you've got this center console
08:18 with a little key tray at the top.
08:20 It's air conditioned too, which I love.
08:21 You have a really reasonably sized glove box down there.
08:25 And then you also have a set of sunglass holders
08:28 up the top.
08:29 Let's talk about comfort.
08:30 So you have dual zone automatic climate control.
08:33 You also have controls here for the rear air conditioning.
08:36 You have electric adjustment for the driver's seat
08:37 using these Mercedes style controls.
08:39 You can go forwards and backwards.
08:41 Backrest can go forwards and backwards.
08:43 You can also lift the seat up and lower it as well.
08:46 You have memory for the driver too.
08:48 The passenger seat is entirely manually adjustable.
08:51 I thought the seats weren't overly comfortable.
08:53 On the drive here today,
08:54 it was about an hour away or something like that.
08:56 And it kind of got a bit tiring by the end of it.
08:58 So yeah, it'd be interesting to see what they're like
09:01 on a longer distance drive.
09:02 Outside of that, steering is both tilt and reach adjustable
09:07 in the top spec model.
09:08 And then on the reach test,
09:09 all of this stuff is easy to reach while you're driving.
09:13 So second row of the XUV.
09:15 Look, knee room is great.
09:17 Toe room is excellent.
09:18 Headroom is pretty good as well.
09:21 It's actually not a bad space here
09:23 for an adult to be seated, which is good.
09:25 Air vents down here, you have a single USB-C port,
09:29 a little bit of phone storage, map pockets as well.
09:31 You have a lever here to move your passenger seat
09:34 forwards and backwards strangely.
09:36 You've got a center armrest here with two cup holders
09:39 with little grips in there as well.
09:41 ISOFIX points on your two outboard seats
09:43 with three top tether points across here.
09:45 About our window test.
09:47 Let's see how it goes.
09:48 So it's manual up and down.
09:50 Look at that, goes all the way down.
09:54 Very impressive.
09:55 So time to chat third row.
09:57 Normally with these SUVs, the third row is just a kid's zone
10:00 but I thought I'll climb in there
10:02 just to see what it's like.
10:03 So you access from the passenger side.
10:06 That tumbles down and then
10:10 you work your way in.
10:11 So I'm gonna drop that down, lift that up.
10:15 It's actually really not that bad back here.
10:18 Yeah, look, my headroom is actually really not very good
10:22 but I actually have perfectly fine knee room
10:25 and toe room's okay too.
10:27 That's surprising because normally with these,
10:29 the second row can be slid forward
10:31 and that means you then have no leg room
10:33 for your second row
10:34 but I am actually pretty satisfied with this.
10:36 So you've got air vents back here.
10:37 You also have cup holders plus controls for the blower
10:40 and a 12 volt outlet.
10:42 It does look like there is no room in the boot though
10:45 so we'll go check that out.
10:46 Now let's talk cargo space.
10:47 So no power tailgate unfortunately
10:50 and not a great deal of space as well.
10:53 So let's have a look.
10:55 You can probably just fit a laptop bag
10:57 and that is about it back there.
10:59 Underneath this section of the cargo floor,
11:01 you've got a first aid kit, a safety triangle
11:03 and also a jack for the vehicle.
11:06 The space saver spare tire is located under there.
11:08 So you can drop the third row out of the way.
11:11 So let's clear that out and see how space improves.
11:14 Unfortunately, Mahindra doesn't have any
11:15 actual cargo capacity figures.
11:17 So all I can do is just demonstrate
11:19 what it looks like with our bags in there.
11:21 So that's laptop bag.
11:22 That's the suitcase.
11:25 So pretty reasonably sized by the look of it.
11:27 You can then also drop that second row.
11:30 I'll show you what that looks like when that's flat.
11:32 And that gives you an elevated load floor.
11:35 (car engine revving)
11:39 Okay, we've just hit the road in the XUV700.
11:44 Have a listen to this.
11:45 Yeah, there are three sort of indicator noises
11:53 you can choose from and all of them sound equally strange.
11:56 So it's a little bit annoying that you can't
11:58 just have a normal indicator sound.
11:59 But anyway, so now one of the reasons this is
12:03 actually a bit of a compelling argument in this segment
12:05 is because of the engine.
12:07 So this uses a two liter turbocharged petrol engine.
12:11 It's 149 kilowatts, just under 400 newton meters of torque.
12:14 The reason that's so impressive is that most other
12:16 competitors in this segment are naturally aspirated.
12:19 If you think of something like a CX-8,
12:21 it's naturally aspirated.
12:22 It doesn't have a turbo unless you go down
12:23 the path of the diesel.
12:25 And then if you ever think of stuff like CRV,
12:28 I mean, it's made it to a CVT.
12:29 It's an older platform as well.
12:30 So this really does stand out nicely.
12:32 Now all of that's made it to a six speed
12:35 automatic transmission.
12:36 It's an Aisin automatic transmission.
12:38 What does all that feel like behind the wheel?
12:40 Let's give it a little punch here.
12:42 Yeah, look, it has a decent amount of surge.
12:46 It pushes you in the back nicely.
12:48 And the gearbox is fairly responsive too.
12:50 So gets up and moves without any dramas.
12:52 It is absolutely sopping wet at the moment.
12:54 It just started bucketing down after we started filming.
12:57 So it's going to affect conditions a little bit here,
13:00 but we'll make do with it as we can.
13:02 Now let's talk fuel economy.
13:03 So Mahindra claims 8.3 litres per 100 Ks.
13:07 We are sitting on 9.1 kilometres a litre.
13:11 And I can't change that for some reason.
13:13 So Igor, if you can do the calculation for us,
13:15 that would be great.
13:16 Okay, so that converts to 11 litres per 100 Ks,
13:20 which is not very good in my opinion.
13:22 Yeah, it is a two litre turbo petrol engine.
13:24 I mean, that is likely to consume a bit more fuel,
13:27 but I will be interested to see what this is like
13:29 on a longer highway drive,
13:30 whether it settles down a little bit.
13:32 But yeah, it is a little bit disappointing there
13:34 in terms of that high fuel use.
13:36 Okay, sine wave time.
13:37 We attack this at 130 Ks an hour.
13:41 Let's see what this is like in terms of suspension feel.
13:45 We're actually pretty surprised with the Scorpio here
13:49 in terms of the way the suspension felt.
13:52 And this is kind of in the same boat.
13:53 It is soft, but it's definitely not unruly.
13:57 It has a decent amount of body control at that top end.
14:00 It actually does feel like they've put a little bit of effort here
14:03 into that suspension setup to make sure that it feels good.
14:05 And it's the same story in and around town.
14:07 It's just nice and comfortable.
14:09 If this is going to be your family vehicle,
14:11 it's not going to have the kids' heads thrown about all over the place.
14:14 This is a really good setup.
14:15 Now, what's it like on our rough road?
14:18 Do this at 90 Ks an hour.
14:19 It is dodgiest stretch of road in Australia.
14:23 Let's see if all this suspension tuning work has actually paid off.
14:28 Yeah, it's feeling great.
14:29 That is soaking up these bumps really nicely.
14:32 It's surprising.
14:33 You just put a little bit of effort into suspension
14:35 and you end up with a vehicle that is actually...
14:37 Yeah, this is great.
14:40 So this is our condensed sine wave.
14:42 It really throws the car around a lot through there.
14:44 And it's just maintaining its composure.
14:47 Yeah, I think hat goes off to the suspension team.
14:50 They've done a really good job on the ride and handling tune here
14:53 for the XUV.
14:54 Now, the other thing I want to talk about quickly is the steering.
14:58 It is very light and highly assisted.
15:01 So what you find is that minor inputs have sort of exaggerated effects
15:06 and you don't really have a great deal of feel through the steering.
15:08 A little bit disappointing.
15:09 I would have liked just a little bit more steering feel through here
15:12 because it does feel like the rest of the car is pretty well sorted.
15:14 It's just let down a bit by that steering feel.
15:17 OK, let's go for a sportier drive.
15:19 So, yeah, it is very wet out here today,
15:21 so we're not going to be able to do a great deal.
15:23 It was drier this morning when I was doing some familiarisation laps
15:27 and I was actually pretty impressed with it.
15:29 So let's see how it performs here in the wet
15:32 as we dial on a bit of speed.
15:34 So front-wheel drive only for XUV700s in Australia.
15:40 It's actually sort of getting along nicely,
15:42 even though it is absolutely sopping wet at the moment.
15:45 So I did notice, yeah, because there is no sport mode,
15:49 it was constantly hunting with the transmission
15:52 and it really wasn't giving me what I wanted there in terms of holding gears.
15:56 You can manually shift gears, but you have to use the gear stick.
15:59 There are no paddle shifters on the steering wheel.
16:01 So I thought that was a little bit annoying.
16:03 I think with this engine, it is actually sporty enough
16:06 to get the dynamic driving out of it.
16:08 And, yeah, like I said, what I found earlier
16:10 is that you could really lean into it and have some fun with it.
16:13 And it was a bit of a surprising package.
16:15 I wasn't expecting it to be as dynamic as it was.
16:18 So I think it does show you that they've got the right formula,
16:20 they just need to tweak a couple of those things,
16:23 give us some better steering feel,
16:25 some paddle shifters on the steering wheel,
16:27 and I think that this would actually be a bit of a fun car to drive
16:30 on a mountain pass.
16:32 Now, let's talk visibility.
16:33 So I can see clearly down the front.
16:35 The wing mirrors are nice and big on the side,
16:37 but visibility out the back is terrible.
16:38 There's like a headrest right in the centre.
16:40 You cannot see past it.
16:42 And that's before you even have the third row up.
16:44 So I think that is pretty disappointing.
16:46 The other thing I find just strange as well is this.
16:49 The screen is so laggy.
16:51 So it's like a sort of copy of Hyundai's lane change system,
16:54 but it's, yeah, it's just super laggy and not very useful.
16:58 And then it also doesn't have a blind spot
17:00 when it's built into the wing mirror.
17:01 So it's, yeah, not exactly the best feature.
17:04 Now, one thing I want to touch on here,
17:06 but actually two things that are kind of frustrating me with the car.
17:09 The first is the stop-start system.
17:11 It is really not very good at all.
17:12 When you switch the car off here in a stop-start situation,
17:15 you can actually see that the car, I think,
17:18 is actually switching itself off entirely
17:21 'cause you can see all these lights come on.
17:22 And then what happens is when you restart the car,
17:25 the lights switch off and on really quickly.
17:28 And then the air conditioning goes to low
17:30 and then back to the set temperature.
17:32 So, yeah, it's just a really weird setup.
17:36 And I don't love the way that works.
17:38 The other thing that's really weird as well
17:40 is if you come to a full stop
17:42 and it goes into its stop-start condition,
17:44 and then you press the stop-start button over here
17:46 to turn that system off,
17:48 which I've done in countless cars before.
17:50 Normally, they would restart now and we'd be good to go.
17:52 Now, when I let off the brake and press the throttle,
17:56 nothing happens.
17:57 The car's in drive, nothing happens.
17:59 So I have to go back to park
18:02 and basically restart the car
18:04 even though I haven't switched it off.
18:05 So I think that system definitely needs some work.
18:08 Okay, so let's test some of the semi-autonomous systems here.
18:13 We use the three outer lanes on our banked oval
18:16 to figure out how all of this works.
18:18 Whole concept is that the further you go out on the banking,
18:21 the more torque the car has to apply to the steering,
18:23 and that gives us an idea of how good the system is calibrated.
18:27 So pop that up to 70km/h.
18:30 Okay, looks like it's detected those lanes.
18:32 Let's see how this goes.
18:34 Okay, so it's kind of...
18:37 ..veering towards the line there
18:42 and then pushing itself back out.
18:44 Let's jump over to the next lane.
18:46 We'll see what it's like up here.
18:49 (BEEPING)
18:51 Alright, wait for that to activate.
18:53 Okay, that's active.
18:57 Yeah, it's kind of just straddling that line far too closely.
19:03 And it just keeps veering back down there as well.
19:07 So that's not great.
19:08 Let's try the outer lane just in case to see what that's like.
19:11 Okay, there it is there.
19:14 Alright, wait for this to lock on.
19:19 Lightly let go of the steering.
19:20 No, it is constantly going over that line.
19:25 No, so...
19:30 Look, it's a pass for lane one and kind of lane two,
19:33 but, yeah, I think it's not the best system in the world, unfortunately.
19:37 Okay, time for some performance testing
19:40 in literally the wettest conditions ever.
19:43 Before we get into that,
19:44 I want to tell you about Help Me Car Expert.
19:47 Car Expert is a big company.
19:49 We have like 50 full-time employees,
19:51 and we have a set of vetted dealers that we connect our readers through,
19:55 and they have in-stock vehicles like this one ready to go
19:59 and ready to get you the best deal possible.
20:00 So if you do want to get connected with a new car dealer
20:03 that has been vetted by Car Expert, just Google "Help Me Car Expert,"
20:07 inspired by our friends at CarWare,
20:09 and we will connect you with the right dealer.
20:11 Okay, so this is going to be interesting.
20:14 So, yeah, there is no sort of sport modes,
20:17 but I'll turn traction control off,
20:20 and we'll go all the way through to 120 and see how we go,
20:22 but it is properly wet.
20:25 Okay, that stop/start system.
20:26 All right, here we go.
20:27 So load up a bit of throttle.
20:29 (ENGINE REVS)
20:32 All right.
20:36 A lot of wheels slip off the line,
20:38 but it actually hooked up okay once it was moving.
20:40 These tyres are surprisingly pretty good, actually.
20:43 So there is 120.
20:46 Jump on the brakes.
20:49 Actually, it moves along nicely.
20:50 Today, we're filming the CX-8 as well,
20:52 and this is significant...
20:53 Well, it feels significantly faster than that.
20:55 So 0 to 100, 9.43 seconds.
20:58 There you go.
20:59 So I think it was quicker than what we did in the CX-8,
21:01 but obviously it is extremely wet at the moment,
21:03 and it wasn't for the CX-8.
21:04 So 80 to 120, 6.51.
21:07 So that's actually a decent number.
21:08 That shows you that overtaking speed isn't too bad
21:10 once it's up and moving and it gets around okay.
21:12 Now let's go do a brake.
21:14 This will be interesting.
21:15 (LAUGHS)
21:17 Okay.
21:18 Here we go.
21:21 (ENGINE REVS)
21:24 Okay.
21:27 Actually, didn't feel too bad.
21:29 Let's have a little look here.
21:30 So 100 to 0, 3.41, and 47 metres.
21:34 I'm just going to throw back to that Mazda again.
21:36 That was over 50 metres on our first braking attempt,
21:39 and it was slightly damp, but not too bad.
21:42 This is literally completely wet,
21:44 and we stopped three metres short of that.
21:46 We did have a second run in the Mazda,
21:47 and it was around 47 metres,
21:49 but still, this is significantly wetter than the Mazda was.
21:52 So very impressive brakes here on the XUV.
21:55 Now, if you do want to see how this compares to other cars
21:57 that we've tested before,
21:58 there is a link in the description below
21:59 that will show you all of our test results.
22:01 And if you do want to find out which app we're using
22:03 for all this performance testing,
22:05 I've pinned a link in the comments section below.
22:07 Okay.
22:09 Reverse acceleration time.
22:10 Here we go.
22:12 Okay. 41 kilometres an hour.
22:18 Okay. So the XUV700.
22:23 What do we reckon?
22:24 Look, I think at this price point,
22:25 it is excellent value for money.
22:27 You're getting a seven-seater with lots of room inside
22:29 and all the basic technology that you need.
22:31 It is let down, though, just by a few frustrating things.
22:34 The steering feel is really not great.
22:37 The lane departure stuff is annoying,
22:39 having to switch that off every single time
22:41 you get inside the car.
22:42 Stop/start system needs work as well.
22:44 So there are a few key things there
22:46 that it really struggles with.
22:47 Outside of that, though, it is a really punchy offering
22:50 and, oh, really good fun to drive as well.
22:52 So, I mean, two minds about it.
22:53 I think if the price creeps up too much,
22:55 I just don't know why you would buy it
22:57 over some of the more established competitors.
22:59 But at this price point,
23:00 I think it is actually pretty good value for money
23:02 if you can deal with those things I mentioned.
23:04 So let me know in the comments section below,
23:05 what do you think about the XUV700?
23:08 Have you bought one? Have you test-driven one?
23:10 I'm keen for your feedback.
