00:00 So I've seen what he can do and it's a little different at this level,
00:03 but I know that he can handle it and I'm excited to play with him.
00:06 What do you remember about that –
00:08 I mean obviously it was a pretty special season going undefeated,
00:11 like you said you guys dominated the state championship.
00:12 Undefeated, closest game was 42 points.
00:15 So every game was a running clock in the second half.
00:19 You know, we had a ton of guys go D1 from there.
00:22 Me, Jake and Josiah DeGuarra and Green Bay all made it to the NFL.
00:26 So it was a lot of fun.
00:27 We had great coaches.
00:29 Our coaches, the head coach at Sanford now, Troy Taylor.
00:32 The other coaches at Sac State, Chris Richardson.
00:34 So it was a lot of fun that year and it's been great having to be a part of this team.
00:38 And then, you know, even though the circumstances are unfortunate,
00:42 it's exciting to get to play with them this season.
00:46 What was the number one trait that stood out to him?
00:48 Stood out to you about him when he was the quarterback for your high school team?
00:52 I mean, as a player, just outrageously good accuracy.
00:55 I'd watch him just hit the crossbar, the goalpost just 10 times in a row, no problem.
01:01 And it was just ridiculous the way he was in high school.
01:05 So as a football player like that, but mentally really hard worker.
01:10 And like I was saying before, he's super even keeled.
01:13 He's not gonna be overwhelmed by an atmosphere or anything like that.
01:17 He's just showing up and he's working.
01:20 Joe has a reputation for obviously being able to thread the needle and
01:24 throw any pass on the field.
01:26 Jake, given what you just said about his accuracy,
01:28 even back in high school, still capable of doing that?
01:31 >> Extremely accurate.
01:33 I think that I'm not gonna sit and compare them,
01:37 cuz obviously Joe's one of the better players in the NFL.
01:40 So, but I have a lot of confidence in what Jake can do, and
01:45 I'm excited to watch him perform.
01:46 >> Were you encouraged the way he played in a tough spot Thursday night in Baltimore?
01:52 >> Absolutely, it was a very tough spot.
01:53 Like you said, it's a big divisional game on the road, under the lights.
01:57 And as an offense, we weren't doing especially well.
02:00 So it's a tough spot to come in, but he did really well and
02:04 he led a great touchdown drive at the end of the game.
02:07 So we put a lot more of those together and I think we can win a bunch of games.
02:11 >> How special is that?
02:11 I mean, a lot of people don't remain friends with their high school friends,
02:14 but here you are with a dude you played with in high school and
02:16 now sitting in the NFL on the same team.
02:19 >> It's wild.
02:19 It's a crazy situation, crazy small world.
02:23 And it's been a lot of fun having him be on the team in any capacity.
02:28 And so it'll be exciting to take the field with him again on Sunday.
02:31 >> What's the best point you've ever gotten?
02:35 >> Like 92 of them from one year.
02:37 [LAUGH]
02:38 Either 92 touchdowns in a year, so I'm just bragging on him.
02:41 >> [INAUDIBLE]
02:45 >> I mean, the craziest one was winning
02:46 States 68 to 7, I think it was, against a really good Oceanside team at the time.
02:52 So that was pretty wild, just being able to run up the score like that in
02:57 a state championship game.
02:58 It's so long ago, I don't remember any place in particular.
03:00 I just remember that feeling and how exciting it was.
03:02 So I don't know if we're gonna win by 61 points in the NFL, but
03:06 we just gotta win some games.
