Eugen Botezatu's Fatal Crash @ Sibiu 1987

Romanian speedway rider Eugen Botezatu was seriously injured in an accident which occurred during a race on the speedway track IPA Sibiu, in Romania.
Botezatu was involved in a three-bike collision in the first turn and crashed. He was conscious when he was rescued, but his conditions later worsened. He was hospitalized for a long period, before he succumbed to his injuries. Date of accident and date of death are still uncertain. It happened in 1987. Since several years after his death, the FRM Federaţia Română de Motociclism have organized the annual "Eugen Botezatu Memorial Race" in his honor.
