A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) constable lost his life, and another suffered injuries in an Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) blast, allegedly carried out by CPI(Maoists) in the West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand during combing operations on Friday, according to officials.

The deceased constable has been identified as Constable Santosh Oraon, while the injured personnel is Constable Jayant Nath Barman. Authorities reported that the blast occurred during a routine search in the forest area of Hathiburu and Chiriyabeda under the Goilkera police station limits as part of a broader campaign to eradicate Left Wing extremism.

West Singhbhum SP Ashutosh Shekhar stated, ""The injured personnel were sent to Ranchi for higher treatment. During treatment, Constable Santosh Oraon passed away."" Earlier in the day, security forces had discovered and neutralized IEDs, the officer mentioned. Notably, this marks the fourth such incident in the West Singhbhum district in the last four months.
