00:00 Actors Union reached a tentative agreement
00:01 with Hollywood Studios and it includes $120 million
00:05 in streaming bonuses.
00:06 Under their new contract, actors on hit stream shows
00:09 would get far bigger bonuses.
00:11 Prior to this new agreement,
00:12 actors weren't really compensated for popular shows
00:14 on streaming platforms.
00:15 For example, "Breaking Bad" star Aaron Paul
00:18 said he didn't earn any money from Netflix.
00:20 And Kimiko Glenn from "Orange is the New Black"
00:21 shared on TikTok that her residual check from Netflix
00:24 amounted to $27.30.
00:26 In the new agreement, actors would be eligible
00:28 for a $120 million streaming bonus fund,
00:31 which would provide $40 million annually
00:33 over a three-year period.
00:34 If the show is watched by more than 20%
00:36 of the platform's total viewers
00:37 within the first 90 days of release,
00:39 actors on the show would earn a bonus.
00:41 75% of the payout would go straight to the actors
00:43 and the other 25% would go to a fund
00:45 run by the Actors Union and the studios.
00:48 The agreement with the Actors Union
00:49 also had studios agree to a data transparency clause
00:52 for evaluating residuals.
00:53 The Actors Union will vote on the agreement
00:55 now until December 5th.
