00:02 It was John Shire, the Chicagoland kid, back inside the United Center last night,
00:08 coaching Duke to a victory over one of the coaching legends in the sport,
00:12 Tom Izzo and Michigan State.
00:14 Donnie, as you said, the offensive woes for MSU reared their ugly head in that
00:19 opening half, only 20 points for Sparty in those opening 20 minutes.
00:24 They started to find their groove in the second, but
00:26 they dug themselves too big of a hole, down by 11 at the break.
00:30 They outscored Duke by two in the second half, but lose by nine.
00:34 The Blue Devils victorious, Donnie, 74-65,
00:37 Duke even covering as a three and a half point favorite in Chicago.
00:40 >> Yeah, in that game, Duke made 24 free throws.
00:43 You take a look at Michigan State, seven free throws.
00:45 That's the difference in the ball game right there, because Duke wasn't even as
00:48 good as Michigan State from the three point line, only clicking in at 27%.
00:52 But if you're going to get to the free throw line and
00:54 you're gonna convert those free throws in a game that technically wasn't all that
00:57 high scoring, you are going to get that victory.
00:59 That's what Duke did here.
01:00 Sparty's got a long way to go and
01:02 they're gonna have a tough Big Ten stretch here.
01:04 But I didn't anticipate here Sparty being one and
01:06 two to start the season, not many people had that.
