00:25 - Hey folks, we just got done riding Yamaha's 2024
00:29 Tracer 9 GT Plus.
00:32 This is a middleweight plus size sport touring bike
00:35 from the tuning fork brand out of Japan.
00:38 Now this particular 2024 Tracer 9 GT benefits
00:43 from a couple really nice upgrades
00:46 that we've been asking for a while now.
00:48 Number one, that new seven inch color TFT dash.
00:52 Wow, that thing is beautiful.
00:55 It's nice and bright, it's nice and crisp.
00:58 It's complimented with another thing
01:00 that was much needed on this Tracer 9 GT Plus
01:04 is upgraded switch gear, yes!
01:07 The upgraded switch gear not only looks much better,
01:10 but it has much improved tactile feel.
01:14 It's also backlit, so when you're riding after dark,
01:17 you can actually see the labels on the switch gear.
01:22 It's really nice.
01:23 I like that Yamaha incorporated
01:25 a joystick light control device
01:27 that allows you to manipulate the functions
01:31 inside the menu navigation.
01:34 Menu navigation is pretty slick.
01:35 It's really easy to figure out the settings on the bike.
01:38 As always, when this motorcycle got its MT09 based upgrades
01:42 in 2021, it now has full electronic adjustability
01:47 in terms of power mode, tracks control, slide control,
01:52 wheelie control, Yamaha Motor calls it lift control,
01:54 but you can tweak all the settings
01:56 to the way you want the bike to be able to be ridden.
02:00 Another important feature this bike now has
02:03 is adaptive cruise control.
02:04 That's right, we have radar powered cruise control.
02:08 Now, adaptive cruise control is very similar
02:11 to the high-end cruise control systems
02:13 you get in your modern four wheel vehicle.
02:16 It uses radar hardware in the nose of the bike,
02:20 which sends radar waves to the vehicle in front
02:24 and is able to gauge its distance from that vehicle.
02:28 And it allows the vehicle, your vehicle, your motorcycle
02:31 to speed up or slow down based on the distance
02:34 of that vehicle.
02:35 It's a really handy feature.
02:37 It works really well.
02:38 There's a nice, easy to use adjustment button
02:41 on the switch gear, which allows you to tweak the range.
02:46 So if you wanna have a shorter following distance
02:49 to the vehicle ahead, you can.
02:51 And if you wanna have more spacing,
02:52 you can have more spacing too.
02:54 There's four levels of adjustment, really easy to use,
02:57 really slick system.
02:58 Good job, Yamaha.
03:00 Now, another cool feature that that radar hardware supports
03:05 is radar assisted linked braking.
03:08 I know it's kind of sounds crazy.
03:09 I was like, what?
03:11 What that does is when you're manipulating
03:13 either the brake pedal or the brake lever
03:16 and the radar senses a vehicle approaching
03:19 and the closing distance exceeds a predetermined threshold,
03:22 the vehicle will actually give you a little bit
03:24 of extra brake pressure to help slow the bike down.
03:28 Really neat.
03:29 As always, this vehicle continues to have linked brakes.
03:32 So if you operate the front brake lever,
03:35 it automatically adds a little bit of brake power
03:38 to the back brake and vice versa.
03:42 Yamaha also upgraded the brakes too on this bike
03:44 by fitting a larger diameter rear brake disc.
03:48 We really didn't ever complain about the stopping power
03:51 on the previous version,
03:53 but we're always a fan of powerful brakes.
03:55 So a bigger diameter rotor is another nice plus
03:58 for this bike.
04:00 A couple other little tweaks.
04:02 This bike now has a new seat cover
04:04 for the rider and passenger and this new color way,
04:08 which looks really awesome.
04:10 As always, the 890 cc CP3 inline three engine
04:15 that debuted for the 2021 model, we love this engine.
04:19 It sounds just like a Triumph.
04:21 It sounds really good, it's smooth.
04:24 It has very little vibration
04:28 and the vibration's where you want it.
04:29 It's a really nice power train.
04:31 The quick shifter on the predecessor of this bike,
04:35 it was never really of our favorite.
04:36 It was a little bit slow.
04:38 It just lagged a little bit.
04:39 It was nice obviously to have,
04:41 but it just wasn't really top notch.
04:43 Well, this third generation quick shifter,
04:46 it's a lot better.
04:48 Now it allows you to actually upshift
04:50 while you're on the throttle
04:52 and you can downshift on the throttle too.
04:54 It's just more seamless.
04:59 It's just faster.
05:00 It feels more racy in a good way.
05:03 So another good job to Yamaha.
05:05 Overall, there's a lot to like
05:06 about this 2024 Tracer 9 GT Plus.
05:10 If you already are an existing 2021
05:13 and new Tracer 9 GT Plus customer,
05:16 I don't know if the new dash
05:18 and the radar powered adaptive cruise control
05:21 is really significant enough
05:23 for you to plunk down $16,500 for a new 2024 model.
05:28 But if you're someone out there
05:30 who wants a really feature rich sport touring bike
05:34 that's comfortable, has good character,
05:37 has a lot of bells and whistles,
05:38 isn't too large, isn't too small,
05:41 you know, at 890 CCs,
05:43 it's a very manageable motorcycle.
05:46 It weighs right over 500 pounds,
05:48 but it's a lot smaller in dimensions
05:50 than other liter and above style sport touring bikes.
05:54 Obviously this isn't the bike you want to take cross country
05:58 to ride to Sturgis or anything like that.
06:00 But for urban, urban tours,
06:03 in short, weekend getaways,
06:04 where you're gonna be gone, you know, a night or two,
06:06 this bike is totally capable for that.
06:09 And that's really where it slots in.
06:11 Well, folks, make sure to surf on over
