00:02 Hey folks, so we just got back
00:13 from Yamaha's 2023 Adventure Ride.
00:17 This took place in Gateway, Colorado.
00:19 Day one, saw us operate Yamaha's fabulous Wolverine R Max 2.
00:24 This is a two seat, 1000 CC side by side.
00:29 It was cool to experience what life is like on four wheels.
00:33 Day number two, we operated Yamaha's 2023 Tenere 700.
00:38 This is a middle weight side adventure touring bike
00:42 from the tuning fork brand.
00:45 Now we've covered both models in depth
00:49 on MotorcyclistOnline.com
00:51 and the MotorcyclistMag YouTube channels.
00:53 You really wanna know what the vehicle is all about
00:56 before you purchase it.
00:58 Make sure you check out that content.
01:00 We have hours of calculated editorial on that vehicle,
01:03 so check it out.
01:04 Now this particular video is really gonna talk about
01:07 just why the Tenere 700 is so neat.
01:10 It's just a well-rounded and versatile machine.
01:14 Number one, the engine.
01:15 Yamaha's 689 CC CP2 parallel twin engine.
01:19 This engine is awesome.
01:21 It is super fun to ride, has a great exhaust note.
01:26 Very easy to ride.
01:28 It makes upwards of 40 pound feet of torque
01:31 from just over 2000 RPM.
01:33 This is a very trackable and very easy power band to manage.
01:37 If you're new into adventure touring riding,
01:40 you're gonna like this engine because it's very friendly.
01:42 Yes, it doesn't have a lot of the wizardry
01:45 of other engines in this segment.
01:48 The powertrain's just so naturally friendly
01:50 that it really doesn't need it.
01:51 So kudos to Yamaha.
01:53 Very fun, forgiving, and torquey CP2 engine.
01:58 The chastity on this motorcycle,
01:59 again, this is a very forgiving motorcycle to ride,
02:02 especially if you're a newbie.
02:04 You know, with a full tank of gas, it weighs in at 452 pounds.
02:07 What I like about the suspension is
02:09 it's definitely on the softer side of things,
02:11 and the softer suspension really helps that bike
02:14 find traction over the slick stuff and the rough stuff.
02:18 So you don't have to go very fast.
02:20 The motorcycle has a lot of inherent traction
02:23 built into it.
02:24 Again, the friendly power band of that CP2 engine
02:28 only boosts the amount of traction you have
02:32 at that rear tire.
02:33 It really works well with the suspension.
02:35 You know, we've heard people say,
02:36 "Oh, the suspension, it's a little bit too soft
02:39 "for the fast guys."
02:41 But if you're a real fast guy,
02:42 you're gonna be able to manhandle that bike
02:44 no matter what the suspension does.
02:45 I mean, the fact of the matter was we were with
02:47 multi-time Supercross and Motocross champ, Ryan Villopoto,
02:51 and he was riding this thing up these crazy cliffs
02:53 and doing things that most normal people wouldn't be doing.
02:57 And of course, the suspension, namely the shock,
03:00 was a little bit fast in terms of rebound,
03:01 a little bit bouncy on the gas.
03:04 But if you know what you're doing,
03:05 the suspension's not gonna limit you.
03:07 That said, if you really want to maximize
03:11 the performance of this bike,
03:13 a little bit of suspension tuning wouldn't be bad,
03:16 especially if you're a high-end rider
03:18 who really wants to go fast all the time.
03:21 Another really neat feature about this Tenere 700
03:25 is just the durability.
03:26 No one makes them like Yamaha Motor.
03:29 These motorcycles are crafted in Japan.
03:32 Of course, they come with a 12-month manufacturer warranty,
03:34 but really what's impressive
03:36 is just how tough these motorcycles are.
03:39 We covered the maintenance intervals
03:42 in our previous content,
03:43 and these things really go the distance.
03:44 They don't need a lot of work.
03:46 That CP2 engine Yamaha's been building
03:48 for years and years and years now,
03:50 they really have all the bugs worked out of this bike.
03:53 And when you buy a Tenere 700,
03:55 when you're riding in the middle of nowhere,
03:57 you need to have a motorcycle that you can count on.
03:59 You need to have a bike
04:00 that's not gonna have some weird electric gremlin
04:03 where the engine's not gonna start
04:04 or the key fob isn't in range.
04:06 You want a very reliable and solid bike
04:09 when the going gets tough,
04:11 and that's why the Tenere 700 is so awesome.
04:15 Number four, the price of this vehicle, $10,500.
04:20 Yeah, it's about $500 more
04:22 than the original 2020 model year vehicle
04:24 that was introduced into the Americas,
04:27 but still, at $10,500,
04:30 you're getting a lot of bike for your money.
04:32 This is a very capable adventure terrain bike.
04:34 Yes, it's not really well-suited for long freeway trips.
04:38 If you're gonna do a lot of freeway riding
04:40 or a lot of road riding at high speeds,
04:42 this bike's not really designed for that.
04:44 It can do it, but it's not really designed for that.
04:47 It's not that comfortable.
04:48 But if you're gonna be riding an equal amount
04:50 of off-road to on-road
04:52 and not really riding at very high speeds on the road,
04:55 gosh, this Tenere 700 is just a fabulous bike.
05:00 Well, folks, that wraps up our quick,
05:03 condensed review of Yamaha's Tenere 700.
05:07 Once again, if you're looking
05:08 for really in-depth editorial on these vehicles,
05:11 check out the Motorcyclist Meg YouTube channel.
05:14 Check out MotorcyclistOnline.com.
05:16 That's where all of our written content lives,
05:18 and there's a wealth of information
05:19 that you're not gonna find anywhere else
05:21 on the internet about this vehicle.
05:24 Well, folks, that's a wrap.
05:26 As always, give this video a thumbs up if you liked it,
05:28 thumbs it down if you didn't,
05:30 'cause we love to hear from the naysayers,
05:32 and we'll see you in the next episode.
