How Much Does Bengals' Loss to Texans Impact Playoff Chances?
Transcript
00:00 this Bengals team falls to five and five. I think the conversation does change in the
00:04 division is probably out of reach, regardless of what you do over the final seven games.
00:10 Yeah. If you lose on Thursday, you're going to lose a game in the standings to two teams
00:14 this weekend. I mean, then the math to me, what happened yesterday is more about math
00:21 than the nuts and bolts of winning and losing football. Because again, like they're probably
00:28 not as good as everybody was making them out to be after they won their last two games.
00:32 And they're not as bad as people are going to pretend they are right now. There are still
00:35 a good bet to make the post season, but you know, what if they are five and five and then
00:41 like the margin for error goes away, you know, suddenly you can't afford a slip up where
00:46 the Steelers hang around and they figure out a way to beat you late in the game.
00:50 Right now, you know, that's, that's a hard to watch football team offensively, but hell
00:55 there's six and three, man. So now you can't afford that. And so like I walked away from
00:59 yesterday going, you know, there are some moments that when they unfold, you go, I have
01:03 a feeling we're going to be revisiting that. And maybe it's when it comes down to the venue
01:09 for a playoff game, they have to play on the road because they couldn't win that game against
01:12 the Texans because Tyler boy drops a touchdown pass or they're, they're a wildcard team instead
01:18 of a division winner because that game against the Texans after such a fast start, they spun
01:23 their tires on offense. That's that to me was really what yesterday was all about.
01:30 And then, you know, the, the really troubling part is on the games last play from scrimmage
01:36 before the field goal, when you see Trey Hendrickson down and you're like great double whammy,
01:41 right? A player of his importance when you're already right now playing without Sam Hubbard
01:45 and you've got a short week and you're about to lose it, just, it's such, it's such a gut
01:51 punch that just goes beyond losing the football game. I still think this team's going to be
01:56 okay, but how much is yesterday's loss going to be something we revisit as the second half
02:03 of the season unfolds? That to me was kind of the big takeaway.
