Bengals Rookie Myles Murphy on Role vs Ravens
Transcript
00:00 >> And probably out, you're gonna have a much bigger role this week.
00:04 Are you excited to have a game where you're gonna have more snaps and
00:09 potentially more of an impact in the game?
00:12 >> I guess, really with those two guys, just hoping for the best speed of recovery.
00:17 Literally just text Trey probably like 30 minutes ago, praying for good news.
00:21 Just hoping that he has a great recovery.
00:25 And really just ahead of us with me, Joe, Cam, and this is really just,
00:31 we gotta step up honestly.
00:32 So step up and keep things going as how the defense has been playing, honestly.
00:39 >> Does the way that you approach a week like this, your preparation and
00:42 such, does it change at all?
00:44 I mean, I know it's a short week, but
00:46 just a week where you know you might get more reps in the game, does your prep change?
00:49 >> Honestly, no, I feel like I've been locked in every week going into every game.
00:55 So preparation doesn't change as much, honestly.
00:57 I know the reps possibly may be a little bit different, but
01:03 as far as preparation goes, it's the same thing.
01:05 Get my pass was planned down, know the defense, know the defense is being played,
01:11 studied their offensive coordinator, know what he likes to do.
01:14 So preparation stays the same, honestly.
01:16 >> With Lamar Jackson being one of the most unique talents at his position in
01:21 the NFL, what do you have to keep in mind when you're getting after him?
01:25 >> I mean, of course, knowing who he is, he's a quarterback that if he gets out
01:29 the pocket and starts running, he's a dangerous opponent.
01:31 So we're just keeping that in mind.
01:33 But then again, don't let that scare you.
01:35 So pretty much keep pass rushing.
01:38 Don't be hesitant in your pass rush, still get after the passer.
01:41 So of course, he has his legs, he can make plays with his legs, but
01:45 you just gotta keep getting after him.
01:47 >> What was the biggest message from Lamar to you all today?
01:52 >> Really, you gotta go to next.
01:57 We can't bring last week into this week, honestly.
02:00 That was probably the biggest thing I got from the talk that the team had
02:04 after the game.
02:05 So really just move on, get into this week and focus on the Ravens this week.
02:12 >> I know it's hard to discern emotion through text,
02:14 but when you were texting with Trey, how did his mood or emotion seem to you?
02:19 >> Honestly, good, honestly, cuz I feel like he has trust and
02:24 confidence in me, Joe and Cam.
02:26 So I feel like his, I guess, demeanor was good.
02:33 So he just wants us to stay locked in,
02:35 regardless of the situation, just keep moving forward, honestly.
02:40 >> I was gonna say, big opportunity coming up Thursday, but
02:43 I think yesterday was the most snaps you've played this year.
02:45 How did you feel like it went for you personally yesterday?
02:48 >> Not bad, of course, could have done better, but that's any performance.
02:52 Some good stuff, some bad stuff, but always some things to improve on.
02:55 So one, of course, we all looked at the film and saw the good, the bad,
03:01 and things we need to improve on.
03:03 And just gotta get better with those and bring them into next week.
03:07 >> Are you excited for the chance to really show what
03:11 Miles Murphy in the NFL can be?
03:15 >> I mean, I'm excited for any opportunity, honestly.
03:18 Every opportunity from OTAs all the way up to now.
03:22 So really any opportunity I can put my talents on display, I'm always go for it.
03:29 >> Coming off a loss like Sunday's,
03:31 is there a silver lining to a quick turnaround, like you can quickly wash that?
03:35 I mean, I guess you have to quickly wash that away and move on.
03:38 >> But so we have to, that's kind of the business, that's our job.
03:41 We have to win or lose, win by 30, lose by 30, or lose by a touchdown.
03:44 We have to leave last weekend to last weekend,
03:47 go on to the next weekend, game plan for the next opponent.
03:50 >> You talked about Lamar Jackson.
03:51 Is there a quarterback you've faced in the past at any point that, I don't know,
03:57 you look at as a comparable guy that provided experience for playing a guy like that?
04:03 >> It's hard to compare someone to Lamar Jackson as far as his running ability and
04:09 also great quarterback, just hitting the spots on throws.
04:14 So I'm gonna say in the ACC we have played a lot of mobile quarterbacks with
04:18 Florida State, Louisville.
04:20 But it's hard to compare someone to him in college right now, so yeah.
