00:40 land of adventure, Africa, the unknown, black, foreboding, mysterious Africa.
00:47 November 24th, we landed on the romantic Ivory Coast.
00:53 Rounding up porters for our safari, we pushed off toward the interior.

01:22 over crocodile infested waters, onward, ever onward pushed our safari out onto the open valve.

01:55 Pitched camp near a waterhole.

01:59 And were swallowed by the inky African night.

02:07 During the night, our waterhole was visited by many strange and interesting animals.
02:12 One, a superb specimen of the heart beast, obviously named because of the unusual design of his horns.
02:20 [ Music ]
02:22 A handsome zebra also became thirsty.
02:25 [ Music ]
02:31 Another rare fellow was the spotted or laughing hyena.
02:34 [ Music ]
02:42 Then came a beautiful specimen of the warthog.
02:47 [ Music ]
02:51 And last but not least, a very rare and unusual species of...

03:20 February 12th.
03:22 Ah, the African sunrise.
03:25 [ Music ]
03:30 At the crack of dawn, I leaped from my couch, ready for my morning plunge.

04:26 Friday the 13th.
04:29 Accompanied by my number one boy, I set forth in search of the biggest game Africa had to offer.
04:36 Suddenly...
04:37 [ Music ]
04:41 I...oh.
04:43 [ Music ]
04:47 Only a tick bird, who always makes his home on the back of the black rhinoceros.
04:52 [ Gasps ]
04:53 Black rhinoceros.
04:55 [ Music ]
04:57 This quaint little fellow pays for his room and board by warning his cumbersome companion of impending danger.

05:39 I drew a bead as steady as my...
05:43 Permit.
05:44 Permit.
05:45 Well, did I have a permit to shoot a rhino?
05:53 It was either him or me.
05:58 It was me.

06:30 And so we broke camp and started homeward.
06:33 Out across the open belt pushed our safari.
06:35 Across crocodile infested waters.
06:37 Up the valley of the Umban Boogie.
06:38 Down the slopes of Mount Makakia.
06:40 Through the forest of Mubasa.
06:41 Back until we reached the ivory coastline.
06:43 Nor did the ocean stop us as we sailed for far horizons.
06:45 Sailed into the tropic sunset.
06:46 Thus we left this land of romance with its beasts of belt and forest.
06:50 Left it for the other hunters.
06:52 And believe me, they can have it.
