00:27 Hello and welcome to Full English, which shows that combined politics with not trying to

00:31 replace Rishi Sunak. The same can't be said for Swela Braverman, who is on

00:36 manoeuvres and once again at risk of breaching the ministerial code. Let's get

00:40 into it. This week the Home Secretary sparked fury after writing an op-ed in

00:46 which he called peace marchers pro-Palestinian mobs, compared them to

00:50 Northern Ireland and said the police were biased and ignoring crime. None of this

00:54 is ideal for a Home Secretary or indeed a rational person, but the real issue is

00:59 it wasn't signed off by Downing Street. The Home Secretary has gone into

01:03 business for herself once again and though some MPs are supportive, broadly

01:08 Tories are very very cross and calling for her to be sacked. Not for the content

01:12 of the article, just that she didn't ask for permission. That's the wrong thing here.

01:18 The crucial point here is that the Home Secretary is terrible at her job, with the

01:24 Home Office widely regarded as the worst government department. But Mrs.

01:27 Braverman is in the post for a reason and that's her appeal to the Tory right

01:31 and to help keep Rishi Sunak secure. Polling shows the public doesn't agree with

01:35 her though and she's breached the ministerial code before and famously tried to get

01:39 civil servants to cut her speeding. Now she's so brazenly making a leadership

01:43 pitch, which she also did at the Tory conference, there's a growing belief

01:47 she's outlasted her usefulness. Reshuffle anyone?

01:51 So what have we learned? Firstly that Sweller Braverman might hate party

01:55 discipline more than she hates the homeless having tents and secondly that

01:59 the King's speech was somehow not the biggest story of the week. Probably because
