00:00 Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte has been thinking for a long time about the decision to return the confidential funds.
00:08 When the issue of confidential funds grew, as we all know, we saw and our Vice President saw that she became divisive.
00:17 And as she said, she swore an oath to keep the country peaceful and strong.
00:24 And so because of that, she eventually made the decision to give up the funds. It wasn't just yesterday.
00:32 She studied and looked at what is happening in our country because of the discussions on the confidential funds.
00:42 In a short interview in Davao, Duterte defended her decision.
00:47 But she did not answer the question if she will ask for confidential funds in the future.
00:53 In the future VP, are you planning to reinstate the confidential funds?
01:00 That is not something that I can access. Speculate right now because the next budget will be more than a year.
01:08 Of all the civilian agencies that were removed from the confidential funds, the 500 million pesos in the office of the Vice President is the largest.
01:18 125 million pesos in the DepEd that Duterte is also leading.
01:23 Senate Minority Leader Coco Pimentel admitted that there is no guarantee that this discussion will be dead because there is a buy-camp.
01:31 Here, senators and congressmen can change some provisions of the budget bill before submitting it to the President.
01:39 Even so, Pimentel believes that the Vice President has a word.
01:44 We have an assumption that the Vice President is not only a politician, elected public official, sensitive to the sentiments of the people,
01:57 but is also a person of her word. If she said that she will give up, I will not secretly call you and ask you to return it.
02:10 Last year, the DepEd confidential funds were blocked by the minority in the Senate.
02:15 But when it comes to the buy-camp, it was also revoked. According to Pimentel, the situation is different now.
02:20 That would be one of the biggest disappointments and one of the biggest political stories of the year if that happens.
02:27 It's already fixed, but they still disagree.
02:29 Pimentel also insisted that other civilian agencies should also give up their confidential and intelligence funds.
02:38 The President's office, according to him, did not receive the 2.3 billion pesos intelligence fund.
02:45 He is ready to question the Supreme Court and other violations of the 2024 budget.
02:52 If the Supreme Court decides that it is unconstitutional, it can have a reenacted budget or implement the budget of last year.
03:03 The consequence should not prevent us from questioning. Because we should be questioned.
