00:00 Now it's the sit down.
00:01 Five questions with Sam Heughan.
00:03 Hi, Sam.
00:04 Your highly anticipated book, "Clanlands,"
00:06 authored by you and your "Outlander" co-star,
00:09 Graham McTavish.
00:10 Tell us a little bit about it.
00:11 Yes, "Clanlands of New Zealand," it is our companion
00:15 book to "Men in Kilts."
00:16 We go on an adventure down under to the islands of New Zealand.
00:22 And honestly, we sort of delve into the culture,
00:25 the heritage, the Scottish connection, the food,
00:28 the drink, and of course, the adrenaline side,
00:30 which basically gives me an excuse to torment Graham
00:33 in any means possible.
00:35 Now I know this is your third installment of this book
00:38 series, and of course, you're working with Graham again.
00:40 What's a story about Graham that would shock us?
00:43 I mean, look, you try spending 24 hours, 48 hours
00:48 in his company.
00:49 I mean, the man is a delight.
00:51 But in a cramped confines of a camper van,
00:55 it can be rather challenging.
00:57 But no, honestly, in all seriousness,
00:59 he was a great sport.
01:00 I made him do a number of things that he really
01:02 didn't want to do.
01:04 Like what?
01:05 Well, you know, I mean, from going on speedboats
01:08 to off-roading vehicles to zip lining off 100-meter-high
01:13 cliffs to--
01:14 we actually did the highest bungee swing in the world,
01:17 where we fell upside down together.
01:19 And the man did cry.
01:20 He did cry.
01:21 But he did it.
01:22 And I was very proud of him.
01:24 In terms of traveling, do you have a favorite city?
01:27 Actually, my favorite city in the US would be New York.
01:30 It just-- it's such a great energy there.
01:32 I really enjoy going there.
01:34 And I have a great many friends.
01:35 It has great food, great drinks.
01:37 Yeah, what an amazing city.
01:39 I know that you stay busy.
01:41 You have so many projects that you're working on,
01:43 including Sassanac Spirits, which
01:45 is your gin and whiskey line.
01:46 As the colder months arrive, do you
01:48 have a favorite fall or maybe a winter-inspired cocktail?
01:51 Oh, it's interesting you mentioned that.
01:54 I mean, the whiskey is probably the perfect winter
01:58 or fall beverage to have.
02:01 It's an amazing whiskey.
02:02 It's won multiple, multiple awards.
02:03 But I just made-- actually, on my social media,
02:06 you'll see I made a spiced apple gin fizz, which--
02:11 yeah, it's really delicious.
02:13 Great for those fall evenings where
02:15 it's getting a bit colder.
02:16 Yeah, and you can actually have it warm, I think, as well,
02:18 which would be quite nice.
02:19 Speaking of the weather getting cooler,
02:21 do you have anyone special in your life
02:23 that you want to stay in and maybe share a cocktail with?
02:26 I mean, look, I think it's always
02:28 better to share a beverage than on your own, right?
02:31 And I think, you know, friends, family.
02:33 I might even share one with Graham sometime.
02:35 But I'll wait.
02:37 I'll share one with you, seeing as you haven't tried it.
02:39 We'll share one together.
02:41 Sam, I'm going to hold you to that.
02:43 I know giving back and inspiring others is so important to you.
02:46 Your My Peak global movement has raised over $6 million.
02:51 What do you love about being a part of this movement?
02:53 Yes, it's an online fitness community.
02:56 We've actually raised almost $7 million now.
02:57 But every year, we choose a different charity to donate to.
03:02 And we're really lucky.
03:04 This year, we're working with the Ocean Conservancy,
03:06 who advocate for cleaner oceans, but also
03:09 help movements of getting people together and going
03:12 and doing actual physical ocean cleanups.
03:14 But we're very lucky.
03:16 And our whole community, peakers, as we call them,
03:19 they're incredible.
03:20 They're not only helping themselves by getting fit,
03:23 creating new healthy habits and healthy lifestyles,
03:25 but also helping charities as well.
03:28 And finally, pick one of your many upcoming projects
03:31 and plug it for the next 10 seconds.
03:33 Go.
03:34 Well, I mean, I obviously have Clanlands
03:35 down under in New Zealand.
03:37 I have gin.
03:37 I have whiskey.
03:38 I have tequila.
03:39 I have My Peak Challenge.
03:41 That's more than 10 seconds.
03:42 If I could keep going, it's like--
03:44 Sam, thank you so much for being here.
03:46 Thanks for having me.
03:47 Sorry it's getting dark here in Scotland.
03:48 Winter's coming.
