Detroit Lions Amon-Ra St. Brown joined SI on behalf of Old Spice Swagger. The wide receiver explained to SI host Robin Lundberg that he is not worried about what anyone is saying regarding his team, and instead wants the squad to worry about what is in front of them.

00:00 I'm Robin Lundberg, joined now by Detroit Lions wide receiver
00:02 Aminrod "Sate" Brown on behalf of Old Spice Swagger
00:05 deodorants and body washes.
00:07 And when you talk about Swagger, your team's got some of that.
00:11 You know, do you feel the vibes of the Lions kind of being
00:14 the public's favorite team this season?
00:17 You know what?
00:18 It's tough to say.
00:19 That's for you guys to say.
00:21 I'm in the building every day.
00:22 We're focusing on one week at a time.
00:24 We got the Chargers this week.
00:26 They're a good team.
00:27 But man, so far it's been pretty good for us.
00:30 But we got to continue to put the work in.
00:32 I think the preparation is huge for us.
00:34 That's what kind of propels us each and every week.
00:36 What would your response be to those in the media or people
00:39 like me who would say, we need to see it to take you
00:42 guys seriously?
00:45 You know, we don't have much to say.
00:47 We just got to take it one week at a time.
00:49 You know, the media is funny.
00:51 They like to-- you know, every week there's a new best team.
00:54 I'm really not sure how that works,
00:56 how a team can be the best team one week
00:59 and then not the best team the next week.
01:01 But it is what it is.
01:02 You guys have a job to do.
01:03 You guys got to make headlines, make some stories.
01:05 But for us, man, in this league, we
01:07 understand that it's a long season like last year.
01:10 We started one in--
01:11 I believe it was one in six.
01:13 And we were one of the worst teams at that point
01:15 that you guys said we were.
01:17 And then towards the end of the year, we finished nine and eight.
01:20 And we finished really strong as a team.
01:22 So for us, man, we understand, like I said, it's a long season.
01:25 We got to do it each and every week.
01:27 But the goal at the end of the year
01:28 is to get in those playoffs.
01:29 And once you get in those playoffs,
01:30 it's one game at a time.
01:31 And anyone can win it at that point.
01:33 So that's our biggest thing right now.
01:34 How about your quarterback?
01:36 He's come a long way from being called a poor man's Matt Ryan
01:40 or whatever the case may be.
01:41 Where would you rank Jared Goff amongst the QBs in the league?
01:45 Jared's in bowling.
01:47 You know, I don't really-- I'm not into all the rankings.
01:49 But he's definitely, in my opinion,
01:52 one of the top quarterbacks in this league right now.
01:54 He's playing like it.
01:55 He's showing everyone what he can do.
01:57 And I'm glad to have him as my quarterback.
02:00 He's been so great to me since I got here as a rookie.
02:03 You know, kind of took me under his wing.
02:05 And man, like I said, I'm excited to have him
02:08 out there each and every Sunday playing alongside me.
02:10 Speaking of quarterbacks that have a connection to you,
02:14 obviously USC, Caleb Williams.
02:17 Where do you see him going in the pro ranks?
02:22 I think Caleb is the best player in college football right now.
02:25 I know the record kind of having lost three games.
02:28 USC, he's kind of out of the hydrant race with that.
02:30 But you go look at his numbers right now,
02:32 he's at the top of almost all the lists.
02:36 He's watching him play.
02:38 I mean, I was at the game last week.
02:40 It's like magic.
02:40 He does things out there that you can't teach.
02:44 So I'm a fan of him.
02:45 I'm excited to see what he does at the next level.
02:47 I know he's going to do great things.
02:49 I just can't wait to see where he goes.
02:51 And then just his ascension, his progression
02:55 throughout the league, him just becoming even a better player,
02:59 older, learning more about the game.
03:02 It's going to be fun to watch.
03:03 What was your response to some of the reaction
03:06 about him showing his emotions after that game?
03:09 Yeah, I mean, as a player, I think
03:11 every player that plays this game, that loves this game,
03:14 understands where he's coming from.
03:16 I respect it.
03:17 I've cried after some games.
03:19 But the fact that it was publicly seen,
03:21 people would like to write stories and say things
03:24 and create a headline.
03:25 Like I said, that's your guy's job.
03:27 So for him, it's just him being with his mom,
03:31 kind of letting it out, kind of being where he feels most
03:34 comfortable with his parents.
03:35 But that just shows how much passion he has for the game,
03:38 the love he has for the game, how bad
03:39 he wanted to win that game.
03:41 Because honestly, that was a big game for him.
03:42 If they win that game, things might
03:44 be looking a little different for USC right now.
03:47 But they came up short.
03:48 And I know how much that game meant to him.
03:50 There you go.
03:51 How about Old Spice?
03:53 Why are you partnering with them?
03:54 And what do you make of the Swagger deodorant
03:56 and body washes?
03:58 Yeah, yeah.
04:00 I'm honored to be partnered with Old Spice as a kid.
04:03 I remember watching the commercials,
04:05 being so tuned in.
04:06 I thought they had some of the best commercials out.
04:09 But now, having been partnered with them,
04:11 I've been using Old Spice for a while now.
04:13 The Old Spice Swagger is giving me 24/7 lasting freshness.
04:17 Even their body wash, I love to use.
04:19 So I'm coming out of the shower smelling fresh.
04:22 One thing that I notice is when people might have food
04:25 in their teeth or something stuck in their teeth,
04:27 or maybe something in their hair or on their face,
04:29 it's easy to tell them, you have something in your hair.
04:32 You might want to get it out, or you got something in your teeth.
04:34 But if you're not smelling good, that's
04:36 something that it's kind of tough to tell someone.
04:38 You usually shy away from that because it's
04:40 kind of embarrassing.
04:41 You might step away further away from them
04:42 just because they don't smell good.
04:44 So having this Old Spice Swagger,
04:46 I'm just confident 24/7 that I'm smelling good,
04:48 that I'm smelling fresh.
04:49 And I'm never worried about if I don't smell good
04:52 or what is this person thinking of me right now,
04:54 if I'm sweating a little because it's hot in the room.
04:56 So Old Spice has been amazing.
04:58 I'm honored, truly.
04:59 Well, good luck with the rest of this line season,
05:02 starting with the chargers coming up.
05:05 Appreciate it.
