Cal signs its first player in the class of 2024
Transcript
00:00 Today was the start of national signing period in basketball,
00:06 something that almost slips by you because there's so much activity in the spring
00:12 with transfers in the transfer portal.
00:14 But here we are, and Cal has signed a three-star combination guard named Jeremiah Wilkinson
00:21 from Georgia.
00:22 He played on the same AAU summer team that Jalen Brown once played for,
00:29 for whatever that's worth.
00:30 He is either 6' or 6'1", depending on who you listen to.
00:35 Cal's listing him as 6'1".
00:37 He's probably not that, but he's apparently dynamic and very quick.
00:41 The team he plays for, the Skill Factory in Atlanta, recently went to Taiwan for a tournament,
00:49 the Everglory Cup.
00:51 We don't really know what the quality there.
00:52 It was an international event, and he averaged about 36.5 points, it looks like,
00:57 and was the MVP.
00:59 If he's as fast as Cal is thinking he is, he'll be a big help.
01:03 He can score.
01:04 It sounds like he can play the point or he can score.
01:08 It's just the next signee for the Bears.
01:11 They're not going to live in the portal, but they're not going to go away from it either.
01:14 But they're going to sign some high school guys, and this is the first one
01:18 that Mark Madsen has signed.
