00:11 Hi, I'm Holly, food editor at MyRecipes.com.
00:18 Broiled flank steak with warm tomato topping
00:20 is what's for dinner tonight.
00:22 This cooking-like recipe takes less than 15 minutes to make
00:25 because it uses a quick cooking technique, broiling,
00:28 to prepare the steak.
00:30 Start by combining cumin,
00:33 salt,
00:35 and red pepper,
00:39 and then sprinkle over your flank steak.
00:42 Rub the mixture over the steak,
00:49 and then spray a broiler pan with cooking spray.
00:52 Transfer the steak,
00:54 and broil for five minutes on each side.
00:58 While the steak cooks, prepare the sauce.
01:03 Heat oil in a large skillet.
01:06 Add garlic,
01:10 and chopped jalapenos,
01:13 and saute for about a minute.
01:15 I removed the seeds from my jalapenos,
01:17 but if you like a little bit more heat,
01:19 feel free to leave them in.
01:22 Next, add cumin,
01:25 salt,
01:27 and tomatoes.
01:29 Cook this mixture for about three minutes,
01:31 or until the tomatoes are soft.
01:34 When the tomatoes have softened,
01:36 remove the pan from the heat,
01:38 and stir in cilantro.
01:40 The red and green colors are so vibrant.
01:45 When the meat is done, remove it from the broiler pan,
01:48 and transfer to a cutting board.
01:50 Let this sit for about five minutes
01:52 to reabsorb the juices.
01:54 That gives you plenty of time to make some
01:56 quick cooking rice, and get everything set for dinner.
01:59 Thinly slice the steak across the grain.
02:02 The jalapenos add just a little bit of heat.
02:10 I love how the cumin and cilantro
02:13 give it a bit of a Latin flair.
02:15 I hope you enjoy this simple dish
02:17 for your dinner tonight.
