How to Make a Show-Stopping Pumpkin Cake From a Box

This show-stopping fall treat starts with a boxed pumpkin cake that's soaked in a pumpkin spice latte and decorated with pumpkin-flavored cinnamon rolls and cookies.

00:02 Welcome to Straight Out the Box,
00:13 the show where we take two cakes that came out of this box
00:16 and turn it into something awesome.
00:18 Let's get started.
00:19 So today we are gonna be working
00:20 with Perfectly Pumpkin Cake.
00:23 We're also going to be working with Pumpkin Box Cookies
00:26 and Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls.
00:29 I laughed my ass off when I found all of this pumpkin stuff.
00:33 So I am super excited for this and also very curious.
00:38 So let's get started.
00:39 So after I baked my cakes,
00:40 I baked my cookies and my cinnamon rolls.
00:42 Now for the cinnamon rolls,
00:43 all I did was follow the instructions on the package.
00:46 Before the cookies, I changed it up a little bit.
00:48 I wanted to make it so that they would all be different sizes
00:51 so I took two portions and created one giant cookie
00:55 and then we have the smallest cookie
00:56 and then I wanted even smaller cookies
00:58 so I cut one portion in half
01:00 to create two smaller cookies.
01:01 All right, and they've been cooling for like a day now.
01:06 I'm curious about these cookies.
01:08 Should I eat one?
01:09 Oh, good job store.
01:13 You did a good job store.
01:14 So now we're gonna create some frosting for our cake.
01:16 First, I'm going to take two 16 ounce packages
01:19 of cream cheese and then add them to a bowl.
01:21 Then I'm gonna add in 16 ounces of butter.
01:23 Now you wanna make sure everything's at room temperature
01:26 so it's easy to mix.
01:28 And once that's combined,
01:29 we're gonna add two cups of powdered sugar.
01:32 And once it's done,
01:34 we're gonna place it into a Ziploc bag.
01:36 So we only have two more things to do.
01:41 We're gonna take our cinnamon rolls
01:42 and we're gonna cut them in half.
01:44 Sometimes when I'm making cakes,
01:45 I like to soak the cake in simple syrup
01:48 but because we are working with all pumpkin stuff,
01:51 I'm gonna soak it in pumpkin spice latte.
01:55 Oh, this is good.
01:56 This is really good.
01:58 I'm gonna take my pumpkin spice latte
01:59 and I'm just gonna pour it into a Ziploc bag.
02:02 Then I'm gonna cut a little bit of the tip off
02:04 just so it'll be easy to pour on top of the cake.
02:06 All right, we can start assembling this baby.
02:09 Let's do it.
02:10 First, I'm gonna cut a hole into our pastry bag
02:12 and then I'm gonna add a dot onto our cake stand.
02:14 Now I've cut our cakes into three separate layers.
02:17 The top layer, I'm gonna save for myself
02:19 and the two bottom layers
02:20 are what we're gonna use for our cake.
02:22 Place our first layer on,
02:23 then soak it in some Starbucks.
02:26 And then pipe out little dots of our cream cheese frosting
02:30 and then add our next layer of cake.
02:32 Then we're just gonna repeat the exact same process
02:35 until we have all four layers stacked on top.
02:37 Now once you're at the final layer,
02:38 I'm gonna soak it with our pumpkin spice latte
02:41 and then cut into our cake just a little bit
02:43 so I know where to place our cookie.
02:45 And I'm gonna place another cookie.
02:48 Then we're gonna dot the top with some cream cheese frosting.
02:51 Add our cinnamon rolls to the bottom.
02:54 Place the cinnamon glaze on top of that.
02:56 Dun-na-na-na!
02:59 And there you have it, your pumpkin spice
03:02 pumpkin everything cake.
03:04 I don't even know what to call this.
03:06 Notice I only used three of the cookies
03:08 and only like one and a half cinnamon rolls.
03:11 Now I'm not really allowed to cut into this yet
03:13 because it's for a party.
03:14 Wait, I got cake scraps.
03:16 I got cake scraps!
03:17 All right, so I've got a cookie with some frosting
03:20 and the top of the cake soaked in Starbucks.
03:23 Let's try it.
03:24 My mouth feels like a majestic pumpkin patch.
03:28 Oh my gosh, soaking it in the pumpkin spice latte
03:31 was the best thing I could have ever done.
03:34 It leaves such a deep flavor in your mouth.
03:37 It goes so well with the cream cheese.
03:39 It's just so delicious.
03:40 I keep eating the frosting from the back of the cake
03:45 'cause I know nobody will see it.
03:47 That's disgusting.
