00:00 I'm Busy Phillips, I'm here with Well Done.
00:02 I'm lucky that I have one daughter
00:04 who's a very adventurous eater and will try anything.
00:08 That's my older daughter, Birdie.
00:09 I was always very proud of myself for that.
00:13 I thought I had something to do with it
00:16 'cause I made her baby food when she was little.
00:18 I don't know.
00:19 Well, I got my second child is the pickiest eater.
00:23 She refuses to try things.
00:24 She's like, "No, I just want macaroni and cheese
00:27 "or plain pasta."
00:29 She will eat some broccoli and stuff,
00:30 but it's always a constant battle with the little one.
00:34 I mean, I did definitely do some Jessica Seinfeld tips,
00:38 I mean, tricks, the Deceptively Delicious cookbook
00:41 that she has where I puree zucchini and stuff
00:45 and add it to spaghetti sauce.
00:48 It's an easy way to get Cricut to get a little bit more
00:50 of the healthy things that she needs.
00:53 And then we just try to make healthy choices
00:56 and swap outs when we can.
00:58 And I've partnered with Tropicana Kids,
01:01 which we're obsessed with in my house.
01:02 I'm obsessed with because it's sweetened
01:05 with real fruit juice, so it's 45% juice
01:07 and then filtered water, and I'm fine with them having it.
01:11 The truth is I'm trying to just prevent them
01:14 from having weirdness with food
01:17 or having any negative connotations with food.
01:20 So I try to not limit them from having a sweet treat
01:25 every once in a while, having dessert if they want it,
01:27 or whatever, and I try not to use food as reward
01:30 'cause I think that can get really messy for people.
01:33 Only occasionally have I regretted allowing Birdie
01:37 to eat something chocolate close to bedtime.
01:40 That's the only time where I'm like,
01:42 "Ugh, I should've thought that through."
01:43 You know, I think everybody has bouts of guilt
01:46 when they're a mom, I don't know,
01:48 unless you're a crazy person.
01:50 I struggle a little bit 'cause I work
01:52 and I feel like sometimes I miss out on school things
01:54 or I'm not able to make it to certain events for them,
01:57 and that's a bummer, but I also love what I do
02:00 and my job affords them a really nice life,
02:02 so I feel like they can talk about it in therapy
02:05 when they're 25, you know what I mean?
02:07 I mean, it's not funny when your kid
02:08 embarrasses you in public, it's sort of humiliating.
02:11 Birdie has thrown a pretty sizable temper tantrum
02:16 in public that was pretty horrifying,
02:19 and I was actually being followed by paparazzi at the time,
02:23 and the whole thing just felt very overwhelming,
02:25 and yeah, that was brutal, that wasn't funny to me.
02:29 I mean, I let them watch a show.
02:30 I think that's the easiest thing to do.
02:32 I'm like, "SpongeBob, are we at SpongeBob moment?
02:36 "Yeah, okay."
02:36 Like, when I've had enough, a show will afford me
02:40 30 minutes of like, (sighs)
02:42 deep breath.
02:45 (upbeat music)
