00:00 Jerome Powell is speaking not once, but two times this week.
00:07 That and other market moving news is coming to you quick here.
00:11 I'm Gav Blacksburg from Wolf Financial.
00:13 I'm here with Evan from Stock Market News.
00:16 Today we are covering the top stories and news on watch for this upcoming week that
00:21 is going to move the market.
00:22 If you like these videos, make sure that you subscribe to the channel that you're watching
00:26 this on.
00:27 Give us a like, and we're going to go ahead and hop right into it.
00:31 Starting off with the story of the week, Jerome Powell.
00:33 What do we have going on here, Evan?
00:36 Yeah, Jerome Powell will be speaking twice, once in front of the Senate, once in front
00:40 of the House.
00:41 The title of the hearings are the Federal Reserve's Semi-Annual Monetary Policy Report.
00:46 So it's not like he was someone's getting in trouble and testifying in front of Congress.
00:51 This is kind of pre-planned and happens at least twice a year if you listen to that semi-annual
00:55 number.
00:56 So watch out, Jerome Powell speaking twice this week.
00:59 Definitely the biggest event of the week.
01:01 I wonder if we're going to get Jerome Powell from Jackson Hole where he's all depressed,
01:07 or if we're going to get Jerome Powell from the last FOMC meetings.
01:09 But I think this will be the big smart market moving thing this week.
01:14 Yeah, a lot to pay attention to.
01:16 Outside of Powell speaking, we are coming to the end of earnings season, but it's not
01:21 quite over yet.
01:22 The ones that stand out to me this week are C-Limited, Dix, CrowdStrike, Alta, DocuSign,
01:29 and then I know one that you have your eye on is Oracle.
01:32 What day is Oracle reporting again?
01:35 Oracle's Thursday after close with DocuSign and the others.
01:38 There we go.
01:39 You can see it on the middle bottom right right there with Gap 2.
01:43 All right, let's take a little bit of a closer look at the most important ones of the week.
01:47 First, C-Limited, still not profitable.
01:50 We've got some estimates here, though, for Tuesday morning, this is before market open.
01:54 And then Dix, very profitable, estimated revenue of $3.44 billion.
02:00 And on Thursday after the close, the big ones that we're looking at are DocuSign, Alta,
02:04 and Gap.
02:05 You can see all the estimates right here on the screen.
02:08 So just keeping a reminder that as we go into earnings season, to the end of it, companies
02:13 have been really focused on that forward guidance and looking at, hey, how is this going to
02:18 do in the upcoming quarters, upcoming year?
02:20 That's sometimes smattering more than the initial numbers that are being reported.
02:25 Anything else you want to add onto the earning side of things before we move into the economic
02:28 calendar?
02:29 Nope, nothing more for me.
02:32 OK.
02:33 Nothing more for me, sorry for cutting you off there.
02:35 Just it feels like we're almost with the end of earnings season here.
02:38 Yeah, we definitely are.
02:40 It's kind of the dregs of it.
02:42 We had the big names, then last week we had the volatile names, and now we're kind of
02:46 at the end.
02:48 With that being said, though, we already pointed out that we have Fed Chair Powell speaking
02:52 two times.
02:53 So it's Tuesday morning and Wednesday morning.
02:56 And then some jobless claims, an employment report, unemployment.
03:00 Anything else that you want to mention from the week ahead on the economic calendar?
03:04 Yeah, jolts will be a big one, that job openings data on Wednesday.
03:08 I'll be looking for that one.
03:10 And I also find it funny that we had no longer are the weekends free of Fed presidents.
03:17 We had a Fed Speaker, President Daley from San Francisco speak today.
03:21 So they're coming out to every single day now, even on weekends.
03:24 I find that funny.
03:25 But a lot of stuff will be watching.
03:27 We mentioned earlier Jerome Powell, definitely the biggest thing this week.
03:30 Yeah, we need a break from the Fed, but we'll take what we can get.
03:35 All right.
03:36 And with that all in mind, I think we've covered the top major stories of the week, but we
03:39 do have a special announcement.
03:41 Today is actually the S&P 500's birthday.
03:46 What stands out to you that's been accomplished since 1957, Evan?
03:50 A lot of great things since 1957.
03:55 And this kind of goes to it.
03:56 I want to ask you, Wolf, how many internet stocks do you think were in the index when
03:59 it first launched?
04:01 Wow.
04:03 How many internet stocks were in the index when it first launched?
04:06 It's a good question.
04:08 This is 1957.
04:10 So I'm going to go out on a limb and say there were 57 of them.
04:14 It was a trick question.
04:16 There were zero.
04:17 It was 425 industrial stocks, 15 retail stocks, and 6 utilities.
04:22 Internet not being around might have hurt my chances there.
04:26 It was a trick question here.
04:28 I'll get you one that you might know the answer to.
04:30 What was the largest stock in the index when it was first created?
04:33 Oh, it was definitely Tesla, right?
04:35 Oh, there you go.
04:37 No, it was AT&T.
04:39 So still a big name around, a boomer stock.
04:42 But it was the largest stock in the index when it was created.
04:46 False news.
04:47 It was definitely Tesla.
04:48 By the way, quick Google search.
04:52 It's the oldest stock that there ever was.
04:54 Everyone knows.
04:55 God, Elon.
04:56 So, yeah.
04:57 Although it might have been AT&T if you look at Google and all that fake news.
05:02 Wolf, also just throwing this out there, quick Google search.
05:06 When was the internet created?
05:07 January 1st, 1983.
05:09 You did walk yourself into that one.
05:11 Oh, yeah.
05:12 And to be honest, that's the creation of the internet, but there weren't actually internet
05:16 companies until...
05:17 So, some good points.
05:21 All right.
05:22 I think we covered this really well.
05:23 Hope everybody can appreciate my sarcastic humor at the end.
05:26 I knew that the internet was not created in 1957 and that I also knew that AT&T was the
05:32 largest company.
05:33 I wonder how I knew that.
05:35 But with that being said, make sure that you do like and subscribe.
05:39 We've got a bunch of videos that are going to be coming out.
05:41 There's going to be a lot of news story videos.
05:43 Things just keeping you up to date in the market.
05:45 Short quick segments.
05:46 As you can see, we're just at around six minutes here.
05:49 Anything you would like to add before we close out, Evan?
05:51 I'm putting Wolf on the spot.
05:53 Not this upcoming week.
05:54 The week after that will be the start of videos.
05:57 Every single day, Monday through Friday, going through some massive stories the second they
06:01 come out, talking you through what exactly is happening, our quick opinions on them.
06:05 A lot of really good stuff coming.
