00:00 "How did that feel?"
00:02 "Wonderful."
00:04 Welcome to Ms. Mojo,
00:06 and today we're looking at some of our favorite romantic pairings from non-animated Disney movies.
00:11 "Congratulations Wildcat!"
00:13 "What about your team?"
00:14 "We won two!"
00:16 "Yeah!"
00:17 Number 20. George and Ursula. George of the Jungle.
00:21 "Ursula, Ursula Stanhope, who are you?"
00:28 "George. George Primate."
00:30 Tarzan and Jane may be the original king and queen of the jungle,
00:34 but in the 90s they had some real competition.
00:37 George of the Jungle first swung onto screens in a 1960s animated series with a super catchy theme song.
00:44 "George, George, George of the Jungle lives a life that's free.
00:48 "Ahhhhhh! Watch out for that tree!"
00:52 Three decades later, the character was resurrected by Disney as the star of an irreverent comedy movie.
00:58 A send-up of the Tarzan character, George is raised by apes.
01:02 However, when he meets Ursula Stanhope, he gains a newfound interest in the human world.
01:07 Brandon Fraser is perfectly cast as the lovable George,
01:11 and Leslie Mann charms as the object of his affections.
01:14 "I love you."
01:16 "Ursula loved George?"
01:19 "So much."
01:21 "George loved Ursula too."
01:23 It might not be a serious film, but this couple is seriously sweet.
01:27 Number 19. Miley and Travis - Hannah Montana the Movie
01:32 In the seminal Disney Channel series Hannah Montana,
01:35 Miley Cyrus found herself torn between two serious love interests.
01:39 But whether you were Team Jesse or Team Jake,
01:42 Travis Brody was arguably the best of the bunch, played by the perfectly cast Lucas Till.
01:47 "You think she'd go out with me if I asked?"
01:49 "You wanna go out with Miley?"
01:51 "Oh no, you'd be a real prize, don't get me wrong, but...
01:55 Miley...
01:58 I can't help but smile when I'm around her."
02:00 The Hannah Montana film removed Miley from her day-to-day sitcom shenanigans
02:04 and slowed things down a little.
02:06 With the new setting came a new romantic prospect,
02:09 and Travis understood the assignment.
02:11 Unimpressed by stardom, but supportive of her hopes and dreams,
02:15 this laid-back farm boy was just what Miley needed.
02:18 Plus, you can't go wrong with a falling-in-love montage.
02:22 "Oh, you got my head in your palms.
02:26 Oh, you got me thinking out loud.
02:30 The more you think about me, the more that I believe."
02:34 Number 18. Prince Caspian and Susan - The Chronicles of Narnia - Prince Caspian
02:39 In the C.S. Lewis book this film is based on,
02:42 Prince Caspian and Susan Pevensey barely interact.
02:45 However, we can't help but love the addition of this romantic subplot in the movie.
02:50 "Maybe it is time you had this back."
02:53 "Why don't you hold on to it? You might need to call me again."
02:59 The adaptation makes the most of Susan's famed archery skills
03:02 and brings her back into the action.
03:04 This allows for more time with Caspian,
03:06 and the attraction between them is there from the beginning.
03:09 Their romance plays out in a handful of moments
03:12 and doesn't take anything away from the main story.
03:14 But they still make a great couple and their chemistry is undeniable.
03:19 "I wish we had more time together."
03:21 "We'd never have worked anyway."
03:26 "Why not?"
03:28 "I am 1300 years older than you."
03:30 Number 17. Mal and Ben - Descendants Franchise - Descendants
03:34 "We get to choose who we're gonna be.
03:37 And right now, I can look into your eyes and I can tell you're not evil."
03:43 They say opposites attract, but Maleficent's daughter
03:46 and the son of Belle and the Beast?
03:48 That's one Disney crossover we didn't see coming.
03:51 When we first meet Mal, she's ruthless, manipulative,
03:54 and striving to prove herself to her villainous mother.
03:57 But we know that deep down, she's conflicted.
04:00 Ben helps bring out her softer side,
04:02 revealing the compassionate young woman Mal has the potential to become.
04:06 Their story does begin with a love potion, which is fairly problematic.
04:10 However, once Ben is freed from the spell,
04:12 it doesn't take long for real feelings to blossom.
04:15 The duo fast become the "it" couple of Auradon.
04:18 "I never thought that it could happen to a guy like me.
04:23 But now look at what you've done, you've got me down on my knees."
04:29 Number 16. Kate and Sam - Holes - Holes
04:32 "I'll fix that roof in exchange for three jars of your spiced peaches."
04:41 "It's a deal."
04:42 This Disney adaptation of the Lewis Sacker novel follows Stanley Yelnats,
04:46 a good kid sent to a camp for bad boys.
04:49 The plot is full of twists and turns, and Shia LaBeouf's Stanley is a likable lead.
04:54 However, it's the doomed love story between Catherine "Kissin' Kate" Barlow and Sam
04:58 that lingers longest in our memories.
05:01 "But we loved with a love that was more than love.
05:06 I and my Annabelle-y."
05:09 "Sam."
05:10 In a series of flashbacks, we learn how the former school teacher's romance
05:14 with the local onion seller led her to a life of crime.
05:17 Scenes from the early days of their relationship are tender and heart-wrenching,
05:21 because we know that it can't last forever.
05:24 Torn apart by prejudice, their story ends in tragedy.
05:28 Number 15. Miss Eglantine Price and Mr. Emilius Brown - Bedknobs and Broomsticks
05:34 Disney romance is usually all about young people,
05:37 so it's nice to see a middle-aged couple as the focus of a love story.
05:41 Miss Price is a trainee witch who's been taking a course in magic
05:44 from a mysterious London professor.
05:47 Emilius Brown turns out to be a scam artist and a hack,
05:50 but he's thrilled to meet a student with a genuine gift.
05:53 "If I've been any sort of help to you, I'm pleased."
05:58 "You've been immensely kind. Thank you."
06:01 "I've enjoyed being with you."
06:03 Despite their characters' contrasting personalities,
06:05 Angela Lansbury and David Tomlinson make a delightful team.
06:09 They fight Nazis, dance under the sea,
06:11 and become stand-in parents to three lonely refugees.
06:15 They're both reluctant to commit, but it's clear that they're meant to be together.
06:19 "No, Paul. I realized some time ago that I could never be a proper witch."
06:23 "When was that? Was it that first magic moment when you laid eyes on me?"
06:27 Number 14. Cinderella and Prince Christopher - Cinderella
06:31 "What did you say your name was?"
06:37 "Cinderella."
06:40 "Cinderella. I like it."
06:43 Everyone has their favorite version of this classic story.
06:46 For many '90s kids, Brandi Norwood remains the definitive Cinderella.
06:51 As the heroine of this made-for-TV movie,
06:53 Brandi became the first Black actor to portray the iconic character on screen.
06:57 She starred opposite Filipino-American actor Paolo Montalban as Prince Christopher.
07:02 The two first meet in the marketplace, where the prince is disguised as a commoner.
07:07 The spark is there from the start,
07:09 and it's clear that Christopher and Cinderella are a perfect match.
07:12 With the help of some beautiful Rodgers and Hammerstein duets,
07:15 this charming duo made us believe in love.
07:18 "How are you really as wonderful as you seem?"
07:30 Number 13. Queen Clarice and Joe - The Princess Diaries franchise
07:37 "You've been wearing black too long."
07:40 Whether you're a Michael Moskowitz fan or you're partial to Chris Pine's Lord Devereaux,
07:45 there's one Princess Diaries couple everyone can get behind.
07:49 Queen Clarice and Joe the security chief weren't originally intended to be endgame.
07:54 However, Julie Andrews and Hector Elizondo got on so well
07:57 that the relationship between their characters was enriched.
08:00 Queen Clarice is quite different from her counterpart in the novels,
08:03 and Joe isn't in the books at all, but we love them nonetheless.
08:07 "Well, I thought you'd never ask."
08:10 "Shades, you're in charge now."
08:14 "Good luck with Lionel. I'm going to a wedding."
08:18 Their on-screen chemistry and covert romance help round out both characters,
08:22 and it's obvious that the actors were having loads of fun.
08:26 Number 12. Nick Parker and Elizabeth James - The Parent Trap
08:30 A reimagining of the 1961 classic,
08:33 the Nancy Meyers take on The Parent Trap has something for everyone.
08:37 For the kids, there's Hallie and Annie's fun-filled journey
08:40 from sparring siblings to partners in crime.
08:43 For the adults, it's all about the romance.
08:46 Strange parental decisions aside, both Nick and Elizabeth are likable characters.
08:51 "Lizzie's fine. My dad still calls me Lizzie. Yeah, I've been terrific."
08:57 "You know, you haven't changed a bit."
09:03 In the original movie, we had our doubts about whether Mitch and Maggie
09:06 were made for each other, despite their chemistry.
09:09 But the remake builds on the parents' relationship and convinces us
09:12 that they should give their marriage a second chance.
09:15 Natasha Richardson and Dennis Quaid are luminous together,
09:18 and the ending is genuinely swoon-worthy.
09:21 "Come on, Nick, what do you expect? To live happily ever after?"
09:25 "Yes. To all the above. Except you don't have to cry hysterically."
09:31 Number 11. Ariel and Prince Eric - The Little Mermaid
09:34 [Kiss the girl, sha-la-la-la-la, the music play, do what the music say, you gotta kiss the girl]
09:43 Although they barely hold a conversation for most of the film,
09:46 this couple has a connection built on more than just love at first sight.
09:50 Even in the animated version, it's Ariel's quirky and adventurous personality
09:54 that charms Eric, not just her looks.
09:57 In the live-action remake, we're shown that they share a love of learning
10:00 and a curiosity about the world around them.
10:03 Plus, they have so much fun together.
10:05 They may not be able to express their feelings in words,
10:08 but Halle Bailey and Jonah Hower King make it easy to believe
10:11 the two are crazy about each other.
10:13 "We still have cause to celebrate.
10:16 Our worlds have misunderstood one another for far too long.
10:20 Your marriage marks a new beginning for us."
10:23 Number 10. Jesse Tuck and Winnie Foster - Tuck Everlasting
10:28 "Well, go on now, get!" "Excuse me, but I own these woods,
10:33 and I'll go on and get when I want to."
10:36 Winnie is the prim and proper daughter of a wealthy and powerful family.
10:40 Jesse is a wild and untamed free spirit.
10:43 But it's probably easy to be such a free spirit when you're immortal.
10:47 When Winnie discovers the secret spring that turned the Tucks immortal,
10:51 she and Jesse are intertwined forever.
10:53 "Jesse, don't let go!" "It's okay, it's okay.
10:58 There's no chance of that, Winnie Foster.
11:01 I'm never gonna let you go."
11:03 She keeps their secret, even at the risk of her own life.
11:06 Coming from such different walks of life,
11:08 they changed each other's views of the world.
11:11 And though they don't last forever,
11:13 what they have together is a beautiful moment in time.
11:16 "Winnie Foster, I will love you until the day I die!"
11:21 Number 9. Roger Dearley and Anita Campbell-Green Dearley.
11:25 101 Dalmatians
11:27 "Do you want another cup of marriage?" "Excuse me?"
11:29 "Tea? Another cup of tea?" "Set marriage."
11:32 They were awfully cute on their own,
11:34 but then throw in the fact that they're raising 101 dogs together,
11:38 and it's just overwhelmingly adorable.
11:41 Their first time meeting is the definition of a meet-cute.
11:44 Roger falls into a park pond,
11:46 and Anita must help him when their two dogs show an affinity for each other.
11:50 "The only part of my body that wasn't injured was my head.
11:53 But now, thanks to you, I've got the complete set of bodily injuries."
11:57 Inevitably, both couples fall madly in love.
12:00 Watching this dynamic duo help Pongo and Perdita keep their puppy safe
12:04 from the evil Cruella de Vil will make you audibly awe.
12:08 "Cruella, the puppies are not for sale."
12:12 "You're quite sure?"
12:19 "Yes."
12:20 Number 8. Anna and Jake - Freaky Friday
12:23 "Uh, excuse me. Is this yours?" "Thanks."
12:28 Though he does have that momentary lapse in judgment
12:31 when he's crushing on Anna when she looks like her mom,
12:34 Jake was pretty perfect for the real Anna.
12:36 "I don't know what's going on here, okay? I don't know what this whole thing is, alright?
12:39 I just... I feel like I know you."
12:43 "I have to go. Really, I just..."
12:46 "Please. Just please. Let me at least give you a ride."
12:51 He was a bit older, but respected Anna's mom's set limitations.
12:55 And though Anna was younger, she was mature, even more so than her mother at times.
13:00 "Do you know him?" "Um, kinda. Uh, that's Jake."
13:05 "No. No. You gotta give him a chance."
13:09 "That is the last thing I'm going to give him. Just look at him."
13:11 They liked all the same music, and he loved and supported her band.
13:15 Even Tess had to admit they were great for each other.
13:18 "Go. Go."
13:21 "Hi."
13:28 Number 7. Belle and the Beast. Beauty and the Beast.
13:32 "You took his place." "He's my father."
13:36 Admittedly, the way they met is obviously not great.
13:39 He was holding her captive indefinitely because her father stole a rose from his garden.
13:44 Not exactly your picture-perfect romantic meet-cute.
13:47 However, the way they fell in love? That is pretty magical.
13:51 There are multiple songs dedicated to showing how Belle and the Beast brought out the best in each other,
13:56 and discovered things in each other that weren't there before.
13:59 "There's something sweet and almost kind, but he was mean, he was coarse and unrefined."
14:06 More than that, they are the personification of the ideal that beauty is only skin deep.
14:12 "Both a little scared, neither one prepared, beauty and the beast."
14:23 Number 6. Aladdin and Jasmine. Aladdin.
14:27 "I thought a princess could go anywhere." "Not this princess."
14:32 This live-action adaptation of Disney's award-winning 1992 animated flick
14:36 follows the titular street rat who falls in love with a princess.
14:40 "I want to thank you for stopping that man." "Uh, forget it."
14:50 When Aladdin first meets Jasmine, she tells him she's the princess' handmaiden.
14:55 But he soon discovers the truth, obtains a magic lamp that houses a genie,
14:59 and uses his three wishes to ultimately marry the woman of his dreams.
15:03 "Hey, can you make me a prince?" "There is a lot of gray area in 'make me a prince.'
15:10 "I could just make you a prince." "Oh, no."
15:13 "Right, you'd be snuggled up with that dude for the rest of your life."
15:16 "Yo, y'all see my powers?"
15:17 Okay, so the tale told in the live-action film is quite similar to the animated musical fantasy.
15:22 However, the reason Aladdin and Jasmine's relationship makes this list
15:26 is not only is he a lot more supportive of her political aspirations,
15:30 but also they work together more as a team,
15:33 which shows great potential for their life together after the credits roll.
15:37 "Do you trust me?" "Yes."
15:45 Number 5. Cinderella and Prince Kit. Cinderella.
15:49 "You shouldn't be this deep in the forest alone." "I'm not alone, I'm with you.
15:53 "Mr. What do they call you?" "You don't know who I am?
15:59 "That is... they call me Kit."
16:02 Like several of the entries on this list, this couple originated from an animated Disney movie,
16:07 but their live-action reimagining developed their relationship more deeply.
16:11 In the more modern incarnation of Cinderella, Prince Kit is a true prince charming,
16:16 and Cinderella is much less a damsel in distress.
16:19 In this one, they actually meet before the ball ever happens,
16:22 and start falling for each other without the need for any magic or bibbity-bobbity-boo.
16:27 "I hope to see you again, miss." "And I you."
16:33 Though not seen by their society as equals in status,
16:36 they see each other as equals, which is way more important.
16:40 "Will you take me as I am? An honest country girl who loves you?"
16:46 "Of course I will. But only if you will take me as I am.
16:53 "An apprentice still learning his trade."
16:55 Number 4. Mia Thermopolis and Nicholas Devereaux.
16:58 The Princess Diaries 2 Royal Engagement.
17:01 Michael saw her when she was invisible, but Nicholas is Mia's first love.
17:06 They start as enemies, then become friends,
17:09 and then the attraction between them becomes too much to bear.
17:12 "I loathe you." "I loathe you first."
17:17 As her coronation approaches, Mia is required to marry to be queen,
17:22 so she's arranged to marry Andrew, but Nicholas is who she really loves.
17:26 Too bad he's out to steal her throne.
17:28 "But it was also a lie, because you didn't tell me who you were,
17:31 and that you were trying to steal my crown."
17:33 "Please pardon me, I just had a momentary lapse of good manners.
17:36 You see, usually when I ask a woman to dance, I always show her my family tree."
17:40 "Oh, well, aren't you just... crafty."
17:44 That is, until he falls for her, too.
17:46 He gives up his shot at the throne for her,
17:49 and doesn't make her choose between the throne and love.
17:52 Naturally, Mia takes the throne's sans husband like a boss,
17:56 and gets Nicholas in the end anyway, making the two Genovia's power couple.
18:00 "And I am inquiring if she loves me, too."
18:03 "Do you have a chicken for my table?"
18:09 "No, no, my kitchen is out of chickens."
18:13 "Oh."
18:15 [Music]
18:20 Number 3. Troy Bolton and Gabriela Montez - High School Musical Franchise
18:25 [Music]
18:39 Whether you loved or hated these movies,
18:41 there is no denying that Troy and Gabriela were a great couple.
18:44 They had their problems, like any couple.
18:47 Troy was occasionally selfish, but they always supported each other,
18:51 always trusted each other,
18:53 and had a surprisingly mature relationship for two young people.
18:56 "Suddenly seems like the rest of the school year is coming at us so fast."
19:00 "I wish it would all just stop. At least just slow down."
19:06 In the third movie, the cliche thing might have been for Gabriela to follow Troy to school,
19:11 but that was not even in question.
19:13 They always knew she would go to her school and he would go to his,
19:17 and they would just work it out.
19:19 "But most of all, I choose the person who inspires my heart."
19:24 Oh, and their duets were on point.
19:27 Number 2. Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann - Pirates of the Caribbean Franchise
19:33 From the moment we first saw them meet as kids in the first Pirates movie,
19:37 Will and Elizabeth were clearly meant to be.
19:39 "It's okay. My name's Elizabeth Swann."
19:44 "Will Turner."
19:47 "I'm watching over you, Will."
19:49 One of the best things about this couple is that we got to see them grow over the course of the franchise.
19:54 They're fun, adventurous, always fight for each other,
19:57 and are a clever play on the damsel in distress trope.
20:00 "This is the path you've chosen, is it?
20:05 After all, he's a blacksmith."
20:10 "No.
20:16 He's a pirate."
20:18 For as many times as Will saved Elizabeth, she saved him too.
20:22 And they had a super badass wedding in the midst of one of many battles to the death.
20:27 "I've made my choice. What's yours?"
20:30 "Vamosa!
20:32 Marry us!"
20:34 Before we unveil our top pick, here are a few honorable mentions.
20:38 Lizzie and Gordo, the Lizzie McGuire movie.
20:41 The longtime friends finally got their romantic moment.
20:44 "Gordo?"
20:46 "What?"
20:48 "Thanks."
20:55 Laurie McGregor and Andrew McDewey, the three lives of Thomasina.
20:59 Romance blossoms between the village vet and the witch of the Glen.
21:02 "I'm glad you told me of yourself. And I told you."
21:08 "I... I'm glad too."
21:12 Genie and Dahlia, Aladdin.
21:14 Genie meets his match in the live-action remake.
21:16 "If she'll have me."
21:21 "When do we leave? Also, I want children."
21:23 "Yes, two of them."

21:35 If you're on your phone, make sure you go into your settings and switch on notifications.
21:40 Number 1. Giselle and Robert Phillip, Enchanted.
21:44 Part of what makes this couple so great is that along with swelling our hearts as we watch them fall in love,
21:50 they also poke fun at animated Disney couples.
21:53 "How does she know you love her?"
21:58 "Oh, no, don't."
21:59 "How does she know she's yours?"
22:06 "Don't sing. It's okay. You know, let's just walk. Can we walk?"
22:09 "Okay. Well, does she?"
22:11 "Yeah."
22:12 "How does she know that you love her?"
22:14 "Oh!"
22:15 "He knows the song too."
22:16 But unlike most Disney couples, in this one, it is the princess who saves her prince.
22:21 Giselle is a fairy tale character who falls into the real world,
22:24 which according to Robert, is a world where happy endings don't exist.
22:28 "You were in love."
22:30 "Yeah. Yeah. That was the problem."
22:35 "How could that be a problem?"
22:37 "Because love, you know, the lovey-dovey version that you talk about? It's fantasy."
22:42 But through her optimistic songs, she reminds him of the magic of the real world,
22:46 and they live happily ever after.
22:49 "Is this a habit of yours? Falling off of stuff?"
22:53 "Only when you're around to catch me."
22:55 [Music]
23:01 Which Disney romances are your couple goals? Let us know in those comments.
23:05 "Yes, my dear. I would kneel if it weren't for my knee replacements."
